Here's the Verge take on GS5's fingerprint scanner.

Samsung’s version requires a vertical swipe over the home button to activate the scanner, and we found it to be quite unreliable and virtually impossible to activate when holding the phone in one hand. It can store up to three different digits, but it was very particular about the speed and orientation of the swiping motion used — if we weren’t doing a perfectly straight swipe down, it would refuse to unlock the phone.

This is one thing I love about the 5S. I can activate the phone with one hand, just placing my thumb on the home button which is a totally natural position.

"We are listening our customers" he says....

Sure...

Customers didn't want plastic, hardware home button, touchwiz, etc.

Oh, and NO KNOX!

Well maybe the majority didn't care. Most people don't know what touch wiz is. Not everyone is a geek obsessed with pure android.

If the general public wanted all the things you suggested then the nexus 5 would have sold 40 million units.

My daily driver is an iPhone, but I love Android competition. I'm pretty disappointed by this, was hoping for something a little bit more radical - I'm sure it will still sell like hotcakes though. The hardware got even more ugly this time around, and the software is starting to look pretty dated in my opinion. Let's see what HTC can cook up..

Oh dear, i think Samsung has run into a wall and needs inspiration from its competitors. The fingerprint copy has a predictably terrible implementation.

Nothing really compelling announced thus far. And the keynote is just droning on and on about nothing.

The Sony Xperia Z2 is a more compelling device. Yet i fear it will meet the same fate as the HTC One.

I meant samsung galaxy customers.

I think he was referring to their customers (of the galaxy line), not to general customers.

Ok this made me laugh out loud!

I think its moreso that the majority don't know any better. If they could choose between stock (better performance & without freaking knox) and TW, it would be interesting to see the results.

They seemed to have some great features with the display to the camera to the connections speeds...but they need to present it a little better. But that back plate is awful....

And I'm talking about the people who buy samsung phones. The majority of those 40 million people who bought the S4 probably don't even know what touch wiz is.

Some nice features no doubt, be interesting what they decide with the note 4

Yes there are some.

The camera looks good.
The power saving mode
The payment via fingerprint if it works
The heart rate monitor.

You could say that about a lot of Apple's customers. But at the end of he day people like what they like. That's why Apple and Samsung are so successful.

Except the payment is integrated with paypal not Google play store.

Yes indeed, but Samsung's Galaxy S grew so large with principles that they are now abandoning. Their devices were 'open' and fueled by the 'geek community' and now they are debatably more locked down than Apple.

Apple hasn't really changed. They've always made their users conform to their ways.

So? They have their own (rubbish) App Store. It would make more sense for them to authorise payments for their own stores. They don't own the google play store.

How are they more locked down than Apple's devices?

I really don't understand this statement.

Whatever you want to say about Samsung, through their popularity they have improved the experience of all android users (services, apps etc).

I feel sorry for HTC...once again their device will possibly be better than the S5, but will only sell 1/3 of what Samsung does.

I think this year is gonna be disappointing.

The S5 has really really disappointed me, and the HTC One 2 seems just like a minor refresh.

Not interested in Note 4. LG G3 will be mostly the same with better hardware and that only leaves the Nexus 6, which will again have poor battery and a poor camera, so...
