But wouldn't that be copying and Apple never does that ;)

hehe. They are definitely smarter than we all think. That really is their "ace in the hole" so to speak. They waited so long and now tons of people will flock back if they release a larger screen.

I don't think Apple really provided any wow factor past the ip4 days when they had that incredible front/back glass hardware. They just excel at making things work in synergy and not having to tweak or dig around settings to get things to work. While Android has made incredible leaps and bounds it still has a lot of what I like to call "turds" that come up every now and then that need to be ironed out, turds which affect functionality and cause frustration IMO. That's why I still use an iphone as my main phone because I just need to get things done with no messing around. Of course I also carry around a Note 3 as my "play" phone, for tablet use, consumption, tweaking, etc.

A larger screen iphone is going to be seriously powerful in today's consumer market. Samsung and others need to step up their game and introduce something very novel because a large iphone is really going to eat their lunch. I can't see the S5 really competing very well as it doesn't really have anything really "wow" about it. It's a nice phone and it certainly hits all the checkmarks for a flagship, but I can only see it competing in price IMO.
I agree with those comments.......It makes me wonder how Samsung would think the S5 was going to compete against a larger iPhone? Unless their strategy is to release a higher spec S5 with a all metal design phone later this summer to go head to head against a new larger iPhone 6? If they do that...I do not see them winning that battle at all.....

Or hopefully release the Note 4 early. :D

If apple would also let up some on the walled garden (optionally) iphone 6 could deliver a crushing blow. Could be the perfect storm..(I wish, but yeah right)

Apple will need more than just a big screen to make it a phone others should be worried about

I don't think they do. I'd bet a pretty significant number of switchers tried Android because nearly ALL new mid to flagship level devices offer a much larger display. It's only us tech geeks that care about all of the enhanced functionality Android offers. Heck, over in this thread, a majority of responders said they would switch to a larger iPhone--and we're in a sub forum full of tech geeks using Android devices.

Considering we're mostly looking at incremental upgrades from the next gen of rumored Android devices for the next 6 months, I think Apple is in a position to make the biggest splash they've made since the iPhone 4, and I don't think they'll need to do much more than offer larger options.

I think for most of us here on this forum you are correct. It will need some really nice extra features. But the general public that just wants a larger iPhone........ it will break sales records.

Yea agreed it should be the biggest thing since iphone 4. Don't know if I can see myself coming back, it should be interesting. Give us real attachment support in mail at the very least

I disagree, and I'm an Android fan. I think a large screen iphone would be a huge hit, coupled with Apple's pedigree great hardware and their solid OS which gets things done. Apple should have never sullied it's name with the 5C, well at least in the US, in China and other underdeveloped countries it might be more of a hit, but then again the issue with the 5C is it's not that much cheaper than the 5S. Apple excels at the top end of the market where people will do whatever they have to do to get a phone. Then again we have pretty awesome plans like the Next plan where you get a 0% loan and don't even have to sign a contract or put down a down payment anymore so everyone can have their iphone.

The more I have smartphones, and I buy a lot of them, the more I realize there is so that we "think" we need in a smartphone, but really don't need those things or end up not using them. Really the only advancement I care about these days is something that would allow me to only carry one device, and really the only solution for that is going to be a fully foldable device.

In all honesty I can't think of much, if anything that I'm missing on iOS that Android has. Now on tablets that's a MUCH different story, but IMO both Android and iOS are incomplete OS' for tablets so it doesn't matter there. But in terms of a phone if my iphone were larger then I'd be set and only have to carry around one device.

1. Fingerprint "Sensor"
...
I work with fingerprint sensors every day and they are extremely inconsistent because most scan the surface layer where dust and dead skin are. The standard procedure is to wipe your finger down before using the sensor several times and then maybe it works 50% of the time.

During An average day at work I can encounter up to half a dozen different fingerprint scanners of differing brands and do not have the troubles you do. Maybe you are using cheap and nasty ones?

The only time I consistently have issues is when my hands are soaking wet.

They have made some nice improvements to the launcher all of which I approve of. :)

Now can we take bets that we won't see the new touchwiz on our more than capable Note 3's ?

The more reviews come out the more people may think this is a good upgrade. Messages look better too.

Samsung unfortunately never usually bring new UI & features changes to their older phones.

What a bummer given that folks have shelled out 500+ dollars for the high end galaxy and note phones..Its like a slap across the face..

That's not true in my experience. I had the original galaxy note and on its last update it got the same UI as the S3, plus the majority of the features from the note 2.
