No applications running and my S5 is at 1.34GB out of 1.81GB of RAM used. I'm not noticing any lag. /shrug

Why is it so hard for people to understand... Of course you wouldn't notice any lag or stutter if you have no application running....

Test it in a real world stress test of having user apps open and running.

Open a selection of 9 or 10 random apps such as twitter / Facebook / s-planner / s-health / Google play music / watch-on / messages / s-note / Google+ & Samsung Gallery

Then flick back and forth between them and using the multitasking button (see if it has to reload any) and then jump into the app drawer and then through home screens and widget selection drawers, that's where if anywhere you will see if the device stutters under the weight with all the open applications.

Until you give it a dynamic usage test it won't be stressed to tell if it buckles. It will and should consistently remain smooth with no applications open..

Report back if peformance is effected with active applications running, that's the important thing we need to know....

I meant no lag BEFORE I cleared the RAM. I didn't think I'd have to clarify that as it seems like common sense.

I cleared the RAM completely to show you how much was available with no apps. Calm down. If you don't like the phone don't get it, simple as that. Lord knows that's why the make return policies. :p

Sorry for the misunderstanding, your post wasn't clear.

I do like the phone and I'm genuinely interested in getting one (some of the camera samples I have seen are very good), and contrary to your last comment, they don't do favourable return policies here. If you use the phone at all, you can't return it here, it has to be returned unopened or your stuck.

If they have got rid of that hiccuping from the S4 Touchwiz, then I'm pretty much sold on one, and will go and pick one up here as soon as they are in store to replace my GS4 GE... (Likely early next week here they should be in stores).

So no I am not being negative on the device, I'm being very cautious. I hate to spend €650 on a device and it not match the buttery smooth peformance I'm getting on the S4 GE I have currently.

I've had two S4s with Touchwiz before I got my Note 3, the difference in peformance on the note 3 was tangible and when I sold my Note 3 and got a lumia 1520 & S4 Google Edition, I still want to keep that buttery experience I have had in the last 6 - 7 months.

I saw the videos of memory usage and as I have explained several times that I was concerned it 'may' suffer same issues the Touchwiz S4's I had did. If it (S5) does remain smooth with open apps then I would be willing to give it a go, but like I say I just remain weary until it's in more users hands and we get more feedback on it.

I for one don't see you as negative for the device but rather as cautious about Samsung's memory management. I don't think MRU is anti Samsung or Android for that matter.....

I tried another S5 in a different AT&T store this morning and it does stutter when flipping through screens and takes awhile opening applications. I don't have this problem with my Xperia Z2, Nexus 5 and even when I had the Note 3.

It doesn't matter how much RAM is being used or not used, the stuttering is there. Some people might not see it, or have a problem with it - that's fine. But it is really apparent to me and it will be for those coming from another 2013-2014 flagship phone (besides the Galaxy S4).

I am not making this up and have no reason to and I am not saying that the S5 is a bad product as everyone has different needs and tastes. The camera by the way, is awesome.

Thanks Jamezr, at least someone understands where I'm coming from.

Thanks.... yep it looks like I'm just going to have to try and get hold of one and try myself. As much as others may not notice those things, it would wind me up.

I see there was a peformance patch pushed out by Samsung so maybe that improves the situation?

May hold out till end of the month and see what oneplus one also brings to the table. The Xperia Z2 likely won't be here till May...

Good to know.

I just don't trust Samsung when it comes to optimizing their software, updates, etc.

If other manufacturers can make better (more fluid) software (like HTC with their M7 and M8), then why Samsung can't?

Anyway I'm tired of it. The two main and only reasons I want to sell my SGS3 to buy something else are battery and the micro stutters, which are annoying.

It's annoying not having a good software experience.

That's why I left Windows for OS X years ago.

Some people don't care about this. Good for them.

Eh, I played around with the store model and didn't notice any lag, and I'm someone that notices these things. I'm like one of the only people on this board that noticed lags and stutters on my Note 3. Though when I use a phone as my daily driver I do load around 200 apps on it, and that makes it lag and stutter more than when its fresh out the box. So I couldn't tell you if I would notice it if I loaded all my stuff on there.

While not my cup of tea, hope you all are enjoying your S5's, I'm really loving my M8. At the moment I actually like it more than my iPhone.

Sure. So if Samsungs best phone just got better they think the S4 was better than a Note 3. Don't think so. Having to undo the charge port all the time would be annoying, like having a OB or lifeproof on all the time. They are going for $900 in Australia today. Madness.
But just because that would annoy you.......doesn't mean it will annoy everyone else. No one is saying the S4 is better than the N3.....
OTOH paying $900 for a phone is madness....

Cnet are, your link headline was "samsungs best phone just got better", to me that means they think the S4 was better than the note 3. Not sure how you are reading it. Samsung coloured glasses:)

I jus have memories from my life proof cases and charging, least you could take them off.

You have no idea....so don't go there. Why are you trolling in the S5 thread if you have the M8?

Couldn't resist.... Vodafone have them online to order today.

I have a white model ordered with a free galaxy fit and it's expected to arrive Monday :p :D

Will post impressions of both when they arrive.

Nice, I don't want to say that I knew it

But you did :p

Also ordered a SGP Glas.t nano screen protector & Spigen Matte Case (blue) as ideally I would have bought the white front/blue back if it was available. At least in time those backs will make their way onto ebay.

I kew you would get one! :) Lets see if it can live up to your high standards!
You are as bad about getting new phones as I am!

Sorry didn't realise you are only allowed to post in the threads relating to which devise you own.
No don't put words in my mouth. I never said that. But if your only intention is to post negative things about a phone you have no intention of getting then that is trolling....you just want to get the people who own and like the device riled up.....

Happy Galaxy S5 launch day!!! Heading to pick mine up in about 94 minutes.... but who's counting, right? :D
