If it has the horrible LG skin it on - it rules out the phone despite its specs. Those specs as a GPE would be drool worthy though.....

To me it's just as bad as TouchWiz. None is better than the other IMO.

Last night I flashed a custom ROM on my SGS3 with the new TouchWiz look and hated it.

Also iOS 7 looks terrible for me. Only Sense and stock Android appeal to me.

No, I do not use one handed for everything. Only in some instances, and when the need arises, there is a solution that is literally perfect.
And those Spigen cases are not slim in my opinion. Especially not for a phone this big. That's why I went Ringke
Thanks for the tip. I will check it out one handed operation mode. I got spigen slim case which is exactly llike Ringke.

Is this one handed mode, split screen and toolbox part of kitkat or TW? Lot of stuff to explore on this phone. I just checked out LG G2 in store. It is little more comfortable in hand then s5. But once I put in a case, i guess it will be same story again. Is LG G2 smaller than S5? Can LG fit in 5.5" screen in G2 form factor.

It's part of Touchwiz under settings>device> one handed operation.

Turning on and off is gesture based. Very fast, easy and effective.

Played around with GPS yesterday and left location services on. Wow what a battery drain 7% in 30 mins. Turned it off and did a restart and seems to be back to normal.

Why can't you adjust volume from lock screen?

Did you leave maps open? On my note I have location services always on and high accuracy and only had this problem with widget that was constantly looking for location info.

Not sure.

What's the go when you make a call, takes 5 seconds to ring then screen goes black then another 5 seconds for the next screen with options to come up??

I don't think i understand but I place a call it takes couple of second and a little bep sounds, after that sound I can hear the ringing.

All the M8 camera knockers failed to mention you can go and make a cup of team while this S5 takes a photo indoors. Useless for kids and pets.

Well I have to give you that, as a point and shoot the M8 has a quicker shutter speed.

The speakerphone quality is horrible.

Also, another problem when on speakerphone: if the other person is talking and you interrupt them (or vice versa), they never hear anything you're saying. Once they start talking, your microphone shuts off.

That sounds mad ... Are all s5's like that I wonder. If so that could likely be fixed via software update.

Yeah shutter speed on M8 is crazy fast

Isn't that normal for when using GPS?

Only if screen was on and you were actually using maps/sat nav.

You should be able to enable googles location services in settings and not have it drain badly under normal conditions as it shouldn't use the gps until it actually needs it.

That being said one thing you can turn off is 'location history'.
You can keep location services enabled, but location history is notorious at times for its excessive drain ...

Probably just forgot.

The worst thing about this phone is the speaker, it even vibrates a bit when on full volume when on a call (not speaker phone) worse on it. And its the size of half a pinky fingernail. Try touching it on and off when music is on.

No offense, why are you keeping the phone? You obviously, based off numerous post, don't like it.

I got offered a straight trade today for my M8 for the charcoal black S5 ... I did consider it for a few hours, but in the end decided to keep the M8 ...

If I had not got the Lumia 1520 for my other device / camera - I probably would have traded though.

If the M8's camera was better/ more consistent, I would have really had to think twice about giving the M8 a try but I just need to better performing camera (the water resistance is also a nice touch too, IMO).

Yeah water resistance is no good to me ... it doesn't cover salt water and its the sea if anywhere that I would expose a phone to. Mind i've never dropped a phone in or near water, so to me water resistance whilst nice is certainly far from essential... its like volcano insurance ;) ...

For me it is great! We are always hiking outdoors near rivers and streams. I usually have to put my cell in a zip lock bag so it won't get wet. Then it is a pain in the you know what to get out to take a picture.

Yeah I can see the benefit there alright.. Actually up the mountains here it would be handy alright, as the damp mist & rain can soak you and as you say the zip lock bag is a pain...

So how do you protect your electronics from all that coastal weather?
Do use some kind of LifeProof cases or something like that?
