Yep. underneath is an opaque plastic.
It is possible to chip the chrome paint to reveal the opaque plastic.

Fab pictures by the way :)
I think, it is a chrome painted. I liked the black bezel around screen and charcoal back cover compared to white version. Back cover is actually scratch proof like glossy ones.

When I changed run time to art, it has to update 300+ apps. Phone came with that many apps factory installed. Samsung stuffed lot of hardware and software. It has a sensor to warn for not closing charging port flap. Charging with USB 3.0 is very fast. When not using any app, RAM usage is around 1gb and 850MB of free space. Not sure if it is as expected.

I have M7 with ATT as well. I will post download speeds after checking it out from the same place.

Yep. It is painted.

You guys should see how it looks on my SGS3 after two years... Took really good care of it and now the paint has worn off.

I couldn't resist.

I only have 1 phone so I don't have an auctio

I only have one phone so i don't have an addiction.

It used to be an addiction for me too, but since I got the SGS3 two years ago I don't feel the need to upgrade, or at least I keep telling myself that.

I keep telling myself I don't need a new phone to do the same stuff I currently do.

I don't need more power to use Whatsapp, surf the web occasionally, watch some videos, take pictures, look my calendar, etc.

All these new phones are awesome but I don't see them doing basic tasks a whole lot better. Apps on my SGS3 open in just one second.

I've been able to cool down my addiction :D:D

Only thing I would like is more battery life, but I won't spend 600€ or more on a new phone that does basically the same things as my current one.

I loved my GS3. And your right, it still works(gave it to my Son) but the thing is, .....i upgraded to a Nexus 5. Battery is better but it isnt worlds better. The biggest thing is that my N5 is very fast. No lag at all and still real snappy as Ive had it since early November so i love that things just load faster.
Another thing is, in the sun i couldnt see my screen on my GS3. I can on my N5, so there is two things right there that is an upgrade. Then there is the faster OS updates.

Downgrade is the speaker volume. Ringer isnt as loud and the external speaker playing music isnt as loud and yes many times at work when im not allowed to wear headphones, i use the external speaker. Also you dont get number badges for things like Hangouts which i dont like.

Ive never had more than one phone at a time but i would like to get a Nokia 925 to use Windows 8 on a phone and its going to get 8.1 starting May 31st. They are pretty cheap to buy on eBay so i may get one at some point.....or not.

So what do you think did i make a big mistake:) Do you think i will keep it ;)

I'm surprised to see you got the S5! I'm liking mine so far. I'll see how I feel compared to the M8 after a few weeks.

The fingerprint sensor does seem to be pretty unreliable though, I've noticed that already after playing with it a bit.

That's what I thought at first too. Works about 85% of the time now on the first try.

-I set up my right thumb as print 1 and 2, and left thumb as print 3. Because my right thumb has two entries it improves the odds of a good swipe DRAMATICALLY.

Same trick works on the iPhone 5S, but it has 5 entries so it helps the right and left thumb. The S5 needs 5 entries too or at least 4.

2-You actually don't need to touch the screen for the swipe. Starting from the screen leads to more bad swipes. Start with the base of your thumb on the sensor and swipe straight down. The screen doesn't factor into the process despite what the little graphic might have you think.

-Don't swipe at an angle. Swipe down in a semi quick motion.

At this stage I rarely get bad swipes. My security is set for fingerprint after 3 minutes, so it's up a good amount of the time when I unlock the screen, and it's pretty unobtrusive after getting familiar with the S5.

Thanks for the tips! I'll give the multiple entries for my thumb a try and see if I can improve accuracy. I really would like to use it to unlock the phone, and if it works most of the time it is a nice feature to have.

Yeah you know never say never. Here is my likes/dislikes after a few hours comparing to M8.

S5 screen looks nice seems to have more colour and is bigger, finally a phone i can see with polarised sunnys on, 5S and M8 are bad, its lighter, smaller, thinner, but the chrome bezel feels cheap. Guess you would get used to it doesn't feel as delicate as 5S, M8. Doesn't look as good as M8 on front. The back feels and looks good and no need for a case which i like. I got black.
The keyboard is better i was having problem with the space bar on my M8 big fingers.
Call quality is good and have more bars than my M8 at home. They have a blue tick with Australia's biggest Telco which means they have tested them and approved for better coverage in rural areas, will see.
The speaker is crap compared to M8. For the money you would think they would have a better speaker, slight bit of vibration in the middle back of phone when up full with music on, new all that. can't feel it holding the sides. Fingerprint sensor compared to 5S is crap. I like the dial pad better its bigger and easier to see. the M8 seems to lag a bit when you hit the numbers, the S5 the numbers are instant (can't believe i just said lag and M8).
I seemed to be always accidentally enlarging the folders and hitting the volume button on the M8 too.

I Can't get my Sony camera to wifi more than 1 photo at a time the M8 will do 30 or more. Not sure what is going on there yet.

Any way time will tell. Guess i have to eat humble pie here, its ok.

Android transfer works for drag and drop, wouldn't work on my M8. Can't seem to get NFC to work with my Sony camera if anyone has any tips. Using Nova launcher and seems good, one thing I noticed with M8, Nova seemed to be a touch slower than with Sense.

Have to admit the charge port is not as bad as when I played with one in store. A better speaker and aluminium bezel would make the S5 a winner, then most probably wouldn't care about that.
All the hate about touch wiz doesn't seem to affect me same as when I had a note 3, probably not as tech minded as some.

The thing that really annoys me with the M8 which i didnt know about HTC before i bought it is the notification light only blinks for 5 mins, tried some other apps recommended on here but they seemed to send it haywire. That was a big reason i ditched the iPhone for android sick of pushing the home button to check missed calls/messages when on silent.

A week ago I had security lock set for longer duration to avoid it, but realized that defeats the point of the extra security.

Decided to commit to it, and figure it out, and stop thinking iPhone. I wouldn't regard it as problematic at all currently. Works pretty good once you give it a real chance.

When I got my 5S I couldn't get it to work even half the time, turned it off and then tried a few months later and it worked and was perfect.
Don't think I will use it on this S5.

I just like to sit back, relax and watch all of you guys with your new phones and comment on how good or bad they are :D:D

Yeah, thought I'd gotten to the point where I could do that as well but that damn itch came back and I just had to scratch it...

"Hi, my name's Russ, and I'm a smartphone-aholic"...:D

Sure you are...You know you can't just quit smartphones cold turkey. ;)

Especially with the LG G3 read to come out in a few weeks.

Your stretch beats my best (or worst, depending on your perspective). From May 2012 until April 2013, I went iPhone 4 > 4S > Galaxy Nexus > iPhone 5 > Nexus 4 > iPhone 5 > Note 2 > iPhone 5 > HTC One (M7). And my tablet addiction isn't much better (iPad 3, Nexus 7 first gen, iPad Mini, Nexus 7 (2013)--twice, LG G Pad GPE, iPad Air, iPad rMini).

Geez, I have a problem...

Massive problems there, good to know we are not alone, i have stuck with iPads but sold a 3 for a mini 1 didn't like it, got a 4 then a Air. Would like a retina mini;)

I left my wife and daughter in the car yesterday and went into a electrical store to get some printer ink;) Came out with the ink and a S5. Tried to sell the phone to her when we got home and i set it up and she bolted with her hands over her ears lol:eek:

She doesn't get it:p
