Well I'm back from the store with my shiny new iPad Air :D

Started queuing at around 6.30am this morning and was about 15th in the queue. By the time the store opened at 8am there were over 100 in the queue!

Was all very civilised really. The store had Costa going down the queue with a trolley giving out free tea/coffee/cake. Two staff went down the queue asking people what they wanted and giving them a voucher card for it. The vouchers were all in a cardboard box and obviously grouped together by variation. Some of the bundles didn't look very large, including the 64GB 4G Space Grey one I went for. Also got a 64GB Wifi Space Grey for a friend. It was limited to a maximum of two devices per customer.

At 8am the store opened and they started filing people in, fairly slowly I must say. Although I was only 15th in the queue, it was around 8.15 before I actually got into the store, although I was out again inside five minutes with two iPads and two covers and a large dent on my credit card :)

It's gorgeous! So thin, so light! Very happy :)

128GB Space Gray WiFi with a complimentary red Smart Cover.

Just opened up my new 64Gb Silver Wifi Air. It's gorgeous! Went to John Lewis in Cheadle at 7am and was 4th in the queue. All 4 of us girls at the front. They opened at 8am and gave us tickets. A slight delay at the tills as they wouldn't process the bar codes to start with, but the staff were wonderful and came round with tea and coffee and kept us updated.

Also snagged a Speck Style Folio that was on offer for half price (£17.47) when purchased with an iPad Air.

I am in love :)

I went with my existing carrier at&T. T-mobile only had 16 or 32, plus for the same data 2.5gb it would have been around $60 a month, with AT&T got a 128gb white/silver added to my existing line with a mobile share plan 2gb, $60 a month, I pay 70 now for just my phone, with 46.50 a month for 20 months do 106.50 a month so my bill goes up roughly 40 a month for 20 months not a bad deal at all. Can't wait to get it....did'nt want to take a chance with my local store as they never stock the hight size in quantity.

Just got my confirmation that it's ready for pickup as well. We should just drive to the store now and hold a printed copy of this e-mail up to the glass window with a really sad face on.

We're ready for you. Your items are ready for pickup.
Just follow these instructions. We’ll see you soon.

NO... I'm ready for YOU! :D

Ordered at 3:01 am. Received email from apple that it's ready for pick up at around 4:46 am. I'll be at the store at 8 today.

Anyone get the pickup email & actually go to the store yet. I received my pickup email but my store is the dreaded 5th Ave Cube in NYC. Are they going to allow pickups to walk in or are we stuck on a line?

Nah I'm going to show up to the store at around 8AM when they open. But mine is in a mall so in quiet suburbia so I don't think it will be too crazy. Supply is really good so people aren't going crazy like usual. I can't imagine you'd have to wait on line if you already paid for it and are just picking up. If they were cool they would split the lines between pickups & purchases to get you out quicker since you stayed up all night just to reserve it.

I'm in NY also.. but not the city.

Walked into Sam's Club, got the 64gb wifi white model (the only grey models they had were the 16gb for some strange reason).

Managed to get a $35 discount (long story).

They had plenty of iPad Airs available and there was no line.

Got my email that it is ready for pickup at 7am eastern! My hubby is so nice he is on his way to get it for me! I am upgrading from the very first original iPad that I got on day 1 when that first launched! This is going to be sooooo awesome! Can't wait!!! Plus I have the day off of work today!

Enjoy the weekend everyone with your NEW iPad Air!!! :D

PS - One hour later the Apple store was sold out of the 128GB Silver AT&T. Glad I got up and did the order at 3:01 am!

I'm headed to the store now and it's raining. Hoping this process isn't too painful.

I ordered mine for pickup from the cube at 3:06 this morning. Still no pickup email. Assuming my email comes my plan was to go around noon. Any line should be manageable by then I hope.

I changed my mind and I'm going to wait until maybe 9AM or 10AM to go. I'm just afraid that if I get there when it opens they'll force me to wait in line with the people who are buying...which basically defeats the purpose of staying up all night just to do store pickup.

I'm hoping if I go at 9-10AM the rush of initial people will be over and I can get in and out. I also want to totally avoid any of that crappy fanfare where they clap and single you out when you make a purchase or pickup an item.. It's creepy and I hate attention

Ok went to the main apple store cube in NYC. No line outside for the in store pick up. Went inside to a line that was two people deep. I was helped right away. Long story short, was in and out of the store in 15 mins. Great job apple.

Order at 2:02 (central) this morning: Silver 64 AT&T, black smart case and Space Grey 64 AT&T, blue smart case. I got the email its ready at 5:36 this morning. The workers must of had to show up early to get things ready. Store opens in 20 and I'll be leaving in a few to go get em.

I got a 16GB Wifi Space Grey with red smart cover, 8:00am at Best Buy with only 5 people in line.

mine is at processing items

i ordered mine at 2:17 am, don't know why its taking so long to be ready for pick up.

Strange I never received the email that I can pick up the iPad. However if I look at the order status page it says its available for pickup. I guess I will just swing by around lunch time.
