Mine was in China for 3 days.... Idk why??

Under what status? Shipped? UPS apparently only takes them from the factory on monday - friday. If it misses the friday window, it must remain there till monday.

----------

Today is my 8th day in the processing stage, and I've decided to take a leap of faith. Well not really, more like a free fall with a safety net underneath. I arrived at my local Apple Store 2 hrs early, to attempt to catch lightning in a bottle. If there are phones to be had, looks like I'm first in line.

Wish me luck!

Some info on "Free Expedited Shipping". I just got off the phone with an Apple rep trying to get free expedited shipping, since I ordered on launch day, have been waiting 10 days, and there seems to be stock at AT&T, Verizon, Best-Buy, etc. etc..... long story short, they can't change it, but the rep believes that they may be shipping all orders now as Expedited because we have been waiting so long. I also made a friendly suggestion that they start shipping domestic stock to customers that ordered first instead of filling their Apple store shelves. I told him that it's not fair that people are waiting going into week 2 for online orders, but someone can walk into an Apple store (or even order online from Verizon and AT&T) and get it quicker. He said he understood, blah blah blah.... so here's to hoping that Apple at some point gets enough complaints about their backwards system and starts to streamline this process in the future. *end rant here*

How did it go!

Well, Lady Luck was not on my side today. The Yorkdale store (where I was first in line) didn't receive stock. The Sherway Gardens store got some stock... but only silver, and 32 GB. Back to the waiting game I guess. Next weekend I'll probably go hunting again. :(

Somebody on one of the 5s forums mentioned that Apple produces 200,000+ phones a day. Where the hell are all these phones going, when orders aren't being completed?

FYI, ordered my gold 64gb 5S from tmobile on the 20th and received it today (when I ordered, the Apple site gave an estimate of "October" for delivery). I was given free overnight shipping for some issues I had while ordering. Hopefully the 16gb gold 5s I ordered for a family member is on its way too.

I guess it really depends on your luck. I thought by the one week mark, mine should have been coming over. Maybe tonight it will change...

Well damn. T-Mobile's web site had an estimated delivery of late October before Apple's site did for the Gold 64gb, so I ordered from Apple (which said October by the time my checkout was complete, doh). Ah, hindsight... guess I'll keep waiting another week or 2 for my order direct from Apple.

I actually wished that I ordered directly from Apple in the beginning, but I'm happy about my phone (though I'm not using it until I get a case and screen protector, which I'm ordering from Amazon asap). The thing that annoyed me, though, is that I didn't even get an alert that it was on it's way. My assistant just brought me a random nondescript package. It's not bad because I'm at work...but the other phone is going to my house (bc the tmo rep for THAT order didn't confirm shipping address), so I need to know what it's coming so that someone can sign for it. Sigh.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I was able to get an iPhone 5s 32gb Space Gray from Best Buy on opening day. Then on that Monday, 23 Sept I went to my local AT&T store that evening and ordered a 5s 16gb SG for my son. It shipped on Saturday (28) and we received it today. I count us lucky with all the delays.

You ordered over the phone?

I did order a space gray 64gb from T-Mobile shortly after launch (around 12:13am pacific) via their web site for another line of mine, and I got shipment notifications both via SMS and e-mail-- it shipped that same day, actually (the 20th). I imagine if I'd ordered the gold as well then I'd have it in hand already.

Can you check the order status via T-Mobile.com? That's really strange that you got no notification whatsoever.

Stopped by Best Buy to pick up the only 5S they had for VZW. Told me it was silver and I was fine with that. Ended up walking out with a gold 16GB 5S. Gold is nonexistent in West TN minus 1 or 2 randomly at the Apple store in Memphis. Pretty funny. eBay and Swappa here I come lol

Yea, I ordered over the phone because I had an old mytouch plan that needed to be switched plus I needed to add a line (the whole process was ridiculous and took 3 hours. I've had tmo for 8 years and never had an experience like that before, I was so pissed). I checked the status for the other phone today and it still says it's being processed. Sigh.

I'm going to call tmo and ask about the notification process or, in my case, the lack thereof. It can't happen with the other phone.

made a thread about this, but I got a text from AT&T today offering me insurance for my "recent phone purchase." But I'm still stuck in processing (apple.com) and my card has not been charged yet...

Well everyone, I'm officially snakebitten. I have struck out on attempting to get that free expedited shipping. Three swings and misses... can it get any worse? :(

And apparently Apple does not feel as if they are accountable for having my phone delivered ASAP, because they gave it an "October" date. What a flimsy excuse.

Finally moved to the "preparing for shipment" stage

For the east coast USA and expedited shipping, what is the average time frame from entering the prepare stage to signing for it at the door? Apple still estimates Oct. 7-10. Is it really a week to 10 days? I thought I remembered closer to 4 or 5 days when I got my 4 from Apple, but it's been a while.

Mine is a 7-10 day 16 GB Silver for AT&T ordered through Apple 4 hours after going live (12 hours after I waited in line unsuccessfully). Today it switched to Preparing for shipping! Hopefully it comes just as quickly as my Apple case that prepared on 9/21 and got here on 9/23.

I chose the quicker shipping (applied to both), so hopefully that will factor in.

Got confirmation that my gold 32GB for AT&T shipped this morning and will receive it on friday. Ordered September 20 at 3:01AM.

Are we serusly not even past 3:01 yet?

I believe we are past 3:01 EST, at least for the gold 32gb AT&T phones (which is what I ordered from Apple.com). Check out the recent posts in the "7-10 business day thread"...there are a number of gold AT&T orders that were placed around 12:10am PST / 3:10am EST that are now preparing to ship. So we're not much past 3:01, but at least there's some movement...
