Didn't end up pre-ordering my iPhone this year as I didn't think I was going to upgrade. Walked into my local Apple Store and picked up the 6 around 1pm. They had tons of stock.. I'm loving it so far

The UPS guy that comes to work told me he had delivered about 40 iphones today and had like 10 that people were not home to sign. I feel bad for those folks as I type this using my 64gb gold 6+

T-Mobile off-contract iPhone 6

Well, it turns out my gamble didn't pay off. The iPhone 6, space gray, 128GB T-Mobile off-contract phone may be "off-contract" but it's still locked, and locked to T-Mobile of course. So when I went to the Apple store today for Personal Pickup and talked to them about this, and they told me it can't be unlocked for 90 days. So I canceled the order. I'm not going to just sit around and look at it for 90 days. Besides, I wanted it unlocked in order to use it on ATT. But then I discover on ATT's website that they will gladly sell me an off-contract phone, but it won't ship for 21-35 days, so at least that's better than 90 days. And, I'll get 15-25% off my monthly bill for going off-contract, and have the option of modifying my monthly plan whenever I feel like it.

Second batch of Pluses (7-10) days beginning to ship

Must have just missed the preorder for today (Friday's) Plus delivery. Had a 7-10 day shipment time frame set to arrive Oct 1 to 6.

Changed to Preparing to Ship yesterday, and just got shipment notice (from China) today, arriving Thursday.

This is wrong. If you paid retail price for the T-mobile phone via apple.com or the Apple Store, the phone is unlocked. If you got it from T-Mobile, however, you are most likely locked in.
Bottom line, carriers can't lock you in to any obligations if you pay full ticket for the phone, because the obligations are generally the flip side of subsidized pricing. No subsidies = no restriction. Except Sprint. Sprint sucks.
AT&T Full Price = T-Mobile Full Price. Different part numbers, same model number. A1549 for the 4.7", A1522 for the 5.5". That model number also carries over to Verizon phones, except these add CDMA radios to the GSM radios. Verizon phones purchased at retail are also factory unlocked.

Passed by my local Apple store today. Employees are giving everyone in line free Starbucks Coffee. How nice of them.

I went to the AT&T store for my iPhone 5 on launch day and they had water, burritos (yeah CA), cookies, and all kinds of other stuff, caught me off guard.

Poor Microsoft.

Walked into my local SAMs at 8:30 they had 4 total (2 verizon 1 AT&T and 1 sprint) all iphone 6 no plus she said till next month. My contract was up with sprint so I switched over to verizon she had trouble porting numbers though after an hr I just took a new number

My UPS man just hid it on the porch. Lazy, lazy, lazy. Good thing I ordered pizza and caught it when the delivery guy came or it'd still be out there.

My iPhone 6 just arrived, and I live close enough to the office where I can set it up. My first thoughts:
  • It's bigger, but feels comfortable in hand.
  • I've been getting the silver and white since the 4S, but now that I see it in person, wonder if Space Gray is the best color for the iPhone 6. Without the case on, the proportions almost make it look like the S3. Not really, but just in how it is similar in size and has the same large white face now.
  • Yes, the T-Mobile version ordered from Apple's website is unlocked. My AT&T SIM worked like a charm.
  • The screen really does look better and have better viewing angles, even if it is the same PPI.

Here is my day in a nutshell. I put two phones on pick up from UPS all was fine than one tracking number said it went out for delivery. So I was first when the doors opened at 8:30 but a bunch of trucks still sitting there. So he found both phones and I walked out in 10 minutes. Wow that was easy until I went home and my wife saw my phone so i ran her to work and she sent me on the quest for a phone now she wants one. Here I preordered just to avoid the lines. Well I went to my At&T store at about 11 and thought they would be out of phones but I can get pricing on paying her Next lease off. Pulled in and people in line like 7 folks. I walked up and asked the big question what do you have left if any. Well to my surprise everything but Plus phones which they got none . So I walked out within a hour or so and have my wives phone. Im married 25 years so no guys no freebies for me, if you know what I mean. ROTFLMAO

Congrats everyone and BTW they are all Gold but the are lighter in tone than the 5S units. They get cases so who cares.

My "T-Mobile" version worked with my AT&T SIM without a problem. It's only the T-Mobile phones sold through T-Mobile's stores that are locked. I suggest you try again in the store tomorrow. Just buy the AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile model "device only." Even if they are out of them today, if history is any guide they'll be getting regular shipments tomorrow.
