I got an alert on UPS that says there are UNAVOIDABLE DELAYS DUE TO WEATHER!!! What the....
I live not long from Louisville and I don't understand what severe weather your message is talking about. We haven't had any severe weather. At most it has rained a little bit, but nothing "severe." UPS better not make me drive there to break my phone out
I also got a shipping notification from Apple. I have one package that departed Alaska yesterday at 7:23pm and another that arrived in Louisville yesterday at 7:51. No updates since then for either.
Next Day Air Saver is not the same as Next Day Air:
For Commercial Locations:
Next Day Air = by 10:30 (or noon, depending on the location)
Next Day Air Saver = by 3pm (or 4:30, depending on the location)
For Residential Locations:
Next Day Air Saver = by the end of day, typically this means by 8pm, although most people get it earlier than this unless they are dead last on the route.

Ok.. Question.. My Dads name is on the package/shipment because I'm still under my families atnt plan even though I no longer live at home... Is there any way for me to hold at will call and pick up with my id? I believe his name is on the package but I paid for it... It's shipped to him but in the email it shows "shipped to dads name" billed to "my name".... Or do I have to wait it out til 6-7pm.
I'm in the same situation, and unfortunately I don't think you can pick it up unless that person is with you since they require the ID to match. If someone knows of a method, that would be helpful! But I doubt such a change could be made at this point if Apple won't even allow a reroute for shipping (such as having it sent to work instead of your home)....
Same thing happened to me!! I got an email from ups at 12:04.... It said, you have a delivery from apple tomorrow... I almost screamed until I realised that it was Thursday already by 4 minutes so "tomorrow" would be Friday..... BUMMER!!

I think that they need the name on the ID to match the name on the package. Or at least for the address on the ID to match the delivery address.
I just got my shipment notification few hours ago. The tracking number just said label created. Apples site shows it actually shipped on the 16th.. Perhaps the emails are delayed ? If it indeed shipped on the 16 then I have a chance of getting it on Friday, as that is the delivery date mentioned as per apple
As long as the tracking still shows delivery for the 19th, I wouldn't worry too much. I think Apple just sends notification the day before for the phones to be delivered on launch day. It is probably in the states and won't have to move very far. Put your tracking into http://packagemapping.com to see if you can't find out where exactly it is.
Apple sent out shipping notifications this morning a day before arrival, just like every other year.

The address on my drivers license is still for my parents address ( the address on the package ) and obv. My last name is the same. I never updated my id after moving out.
I don't know who on here said it, but someone posted that they spoke to an agent with UPS and the agent said that as long as the addresses match they could pick it up. Don't know how accurate that is since we all know that sometimes agents say stuff that isn't quite true but it makes since that they could release it to someone with the same address since they can release it to anyone in the house if they deliver it themselves.

I do but not the 16th. Mine departed Alaska last night at 7:23 pm. Nothing since then. I still have faith it will be on time though. Once it makes it to Louisville, it only has a 40-45 min drive to get to where I am.
UPS held the 2 phones in Louisville overnight, and probably won't post that they are local until it's too late to attempt to pick them up.
I don't think it would have worked anyway. The shipper requested that they be held until a certain day and UPS has to abide by the contract that they made with Apple. They are more concerned with having Apple's business than an irate customer demanding their package early.
Yes, everybody is. The phones are probably already in KY, they just have not been sorted.
ok, thought i was the only one got scared for a minute! 12 hours ok 20 hours ok but over 24 hours without an update kinda freaks me out
How did you get that bit of info?? My tracking basically says the same thing, but I don't see the delivery commitment.

AT&T initially said expected delivery was 9/19
Updated a couple days later saying expected shipment was 9/23 - 10/2

despite the fact that UPS site only shows "label created" the packagemapping site, shows that my phone is already in Burlington,ON, Canada. Its coming by UPS saver express which is next business day by noon... So looks like I will be getting it here in Montreal by tomorrow noon. Awesome!
yup. primary account holder is my husband so it's always shipped to him but i was able to sign for my iPhone 5.
