in the past how long does the back log usually take?
so if waits are 3-4 weeks today if I pre-ordered in 3-4 will stores have stock or will it be another 3-4 weeks

I wonder if the people in China, who are assembling the phones, realize how crazy we go for the phones...
If you sign up for UPS my choice (free for a year) you can authorize release of the package without a signature.
Same thing happened to me!! I got an email from ups at 12:04.... It said, you have a delivery from apple tomorrow... I almost screamed until I realised that it was Thursday already by 4 minutes so "tomorrow" would be Friday..... BUMMER!!

Ok.. Question.. My Dads name is on the package/shipment because I'm still under my families atnt plan even though I no longer live at home... Is there any way for me to hold at will call and pick up with my id? I believe his name is on the package but I paid for it... It's shipped to him but in the email it shows "shipped to dads name" billed to "my name".... Or do I have to wait it out til 6-7pm.
Well you can release the signature for delivery just go to the ups site and under the tracking info for the package it should say authorize shipment release GOOD LUCK

If they share the same last name probably, usually they don't even check ID if it's not alcohol or any age restricted item. The purpose of signature confirmation isn't to make sure the right person at the household gets it, but so the company has assurance that the person actually got it in their possession, and that somebody didn't come steal it from their doorstep. Also, you can just do the preauthorized release.
EDIT: For the record, UPS guys had me sign for packages to my parents when I was like 12. As long as it's not an age restricted item, they just want a scribble on their tablet thing. They don't give a flying **** who signs for it. Generally speaking of course.
Dead jealous! Mine, ordered through Vodafone is still sitting on the tarmac in Sydney, to make its way to me in Adelaide. Apparently Australia Post didn't get the Adelaide and Brisbane shipments on a plane last night for whatever reason!
Looks like a Monday delivery for me...
Fedex Delays?
My Gold 128Gb 6 is shipping via Fedex out of Neward NJ. Tracking info says it's been sitting there for 5 days now. My wife's Gold 64Gb 6 shipped also via Fedex from Memphis to Portland (where we live) and has been sitting in Portland for 24 hours. There are no more Fedex flights scheduled to arrive in Portland tonight. Anyone else looking like theirs will be delayed???

it got there at 4pm left at 5pm and got there again at 6pm all est

Mine did the same thing in Orlando. But I'm only 20 minutes north of Orlando, so mine doesn't have so far to go.
Mine still says it's in Dallas - I'm wondering if an 18 wheeler took my towns shipment. I'd be shocked if that were the case, though. UPS and FedEx planes are ALWAYS landing at our airport.
Got mine this morning. 64GB space grey from Optus. Rocked up to the store around 7:55 for the 8am opening and there were around 7 people, so got mine really early and I'm now setting it up. The screen in this thing is amazing. It's like the pixels are popping out of the glass or something. The camera also works a treat, so now I'm testing the battery and see how long it lasts at medium screen brightness from the pre-charged 80%.

Apple Store also no longer shows at deliver of 9/19. Just says shipped 9/17.
It is in Louisville, KY and it is going to me in Lexington, which is 45 min away.

Usually some UPS action (e.g. hold for will call) might trigger that message. Check your shipment progress and see if anything new popped up.
Did that in Brisbane. Got there around 7am, maybe 30 people. The Optus store took 270 reservations the past week, but left a few for the walk ups like me.
Got the 128gb Silver 6 Plus, which was the last one there. Really really happy with it. Was out by about 9:10 after waiting. They gave out forms for people to write down the info of what they were doing (port of number/new/existing/ what phone etc) Was quite slow going at the start but picked up.
They hadn't got any Apple Cases, so gotta go back after work and see if they have any.

Mine has said it arrived in DFW since 4pm. It's now 12am where I live and DFW is only 5.5 hours away from me. Same boat as you. I'm wondering if once they get to the same state then they load them onto semi trucks.

Be glad you don't live in Hobart... How long does it take for deliveries there? Does Tasmania take an extra day?
