finally made the switch

PC user for over 20 years. Today is the day I made the switch. After a long time waiting for the refresh I bought the MBP

2.66GHz Intel Core i7
8GB 1066MHZ DDR3 SDRM - 2X4GB
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200
SuperDrive 8X DL
MBP 17"HR Antiglare WS Display
iWork preinstalled

Can't wait for it to come and also waiting for Photoshop CS5 update!

Ordered a base 15" with hi res glossy can not wait for it to arrive 22-23 April. I am so excited as always hated the old res on the 15" as it always felt wrong.

Help me config my MBP for photography

I'm most likely going to get a 15" with either the i5 or i7.

I plan on running CS5, and lightroom with this. I do concert and wedding photography so I'm going to be going through and editing lots of pictures.

Not currently but within a year or two I will be doing light video editing(shot from SLR).

Do I go with the i5 or i7 and do I bump it up to 8gb of ram or will 4 be enough?

I def. going to be getting:
500gb 7200 HD as I cannot afford SSD.
15-inch Hi-Res Antiglare Widescreen Display
Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter(to plug into my 22" monitor)

Any light shed would be much appreciated!

new 15" with HD display

• PROCESSOR 065-9134 2.66GHz Intel Core i7
• MEMORY 065-9135 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRM - 2x2GB
• HARD DRIVE 065-9140 500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200
• DISPLAY 065-9149 MBP 15" HR Glossy WS Display

Any news on the HR (hi-res) display? I upgraded to get "30% more pixels", but I haven't heard much talk about it.

Posting this on my new i7 17" MBP and couldn't be any happier with it! Gonna have to get used to how large this screen is and this trackpad!

Just ordered mine as well...

15" i7 with the HR display option. Was hoping the local store would have them in stock, but alas no. Selling the 2006 Mac Pro and the current 13" MBP to help fund it -- haven't needed a desktop in quite a while, so the MP is just collecting dust right now. Time to put it to work one last time!

I ordered a:

4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRM - 2x2GB
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200

i also just ordered:
2.66 GHz Intel Core i7
8GB Ram
500GB Serial drive @ 7200
15" HR Glossy

sending my MBP 3.06 back tomorrow morning for full credit without restock fee...lol

I had to call customer service as I entered the wrong pin on my cc. Was on hold for 20 minutes, rep informed me they were experiencing a high call volumn due to the release of the new MBP. she informed me most of the calls today were for the MBP...

See Steve, we told you give us an update and we would buy....

Ordered the base 15in MBP..says delivered by Apr14-19..cant wait to get it..
Made switch after 10 yrs of PC use.

Hi everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster.

I have been ready for the move to a Mac for a while, but have been actively "waiting" since December when it was supposed to be a Christmas gift and decided to hold out until the mbp line was updated.

I was one of the fools who waited with anticipation so that I could get my hands on an updated 13" mbp only to end up disappointed.

Anyways, I played right into Apple's hands by ordering the base 15" :) I didn't upgrade anything because going from the 13" to the 15" is already a pretty huge upgrade!!

Anyways - just wanted to contribute since I've lurked and learned from others' contributions so much.

Ordered mine earlier today....

2.66GHz Intel Core i7
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRM - 2x2GB
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200
SuperDrive 8X DL
MBP 15" HR Glossy Display

....got a printer as well. :apple:

Wooo replacing pre unibody 15"(want not need lol, the thing still goes great)

From the confirmation email
With the following configuration:
PROCESSOR 065-9133 2.53GHz Intel Core i5
MEMORY 065-9135 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRM - 2x2GB
HARD DRIVE 065-9139 500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400
DISPLAY 065-9412 MBP 15"HR Antiglare WS Display

Got a 160GB X-25M G2 coming from local shop ready to throw in the bad boy!

What comes in the "accessory kit" that my order has under "Items in Your Order"? Is that just the backup disk and charger?

After waiting 2 months and going to 2 stores today, I am the proud owner of a new high end 13" MBP. I'm kind of disappointed with no Arrandale, but it's fine for what I'll be doing, which is DJing with Serato Scratch Live.

Ordered a stock 15"/2.4GHz few minutes after the online store came back up last night (MYT) and expecting it to arrive earliest on 15th (tomorrow!!) .. Status now changed to Prepared Shipment.

Finally, the 6+ month wait paid off. I can finally retire my blackbook.

I returned my ipad today and got:

13" high end
24" cinema display

and also 60GB SSD boot drive (to put in place of the optical).

Cant wait!

I'll be getting a 13" either this weekend or next.
I know A LOT of you are not impressed by the 13' update but to be honest, the last gen model would have been fine for me. I just waiting because I didn't need it at the time. So all the spec increases is a great bonus. First Apple Laptop. Can't wait. I hope my iMac will get a break now!

i'm pretty sure i've waited for a year already. Although the update was nothing spectacular, I went ahead and bought my first MBP anyways! Can't play the waiting game any longer..

I got a 17" Antiglare display
2.66 GHz i7
4GB ram
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200

Want to get purchase 8GB but sooo expensive. I'll have to decide once i see how performance is with video editing.
