I see a lot of people getting the 512GB PCIe-based Flash Storage. Is 1TB too much memory? I starting to regret it now :(

I bought the 512GB because my music library alone makes up over 100GB. Other than that though, I probably have anoter 100GB for school related stuff/documents, so 256GB would not be a good fit for me. 512GB is perfect for my needs since I don't have a lot of other stuff other than those two.

I wonder why its taking until next week to be delivered?

Back to the Mac

Hey all, been lurking since the summer and finally made an account. Just got done ordering the i5 2.4/8/128 13 inch rMBP. Almost went for the mid tier 13 inch, but I've got 4 TB of external storage so I decided to keep the small SSD. It'll be replacing my Asus U56e. So excited to have a Mac again!

I have a 512GB Flash Storage drive in my current computer and using an external drive for photos, music, etc . I look forward to not having to carry around the external drive and being able to put it all on the 1 TB drive I ordered. I thought that I can still use the external drive for backups.:)

I'm stoked! :D

Would the base 15 be better for casual gaming?

I wanna try out bioshock infinite for the mac but will not be a hardcore gamer who games all the time. I just wanna play a couple of games on my mac just because I wanna see how they are on the laptop but console gaming is really my thing.

I already have a windows computer so I will not be using bootcamp at all.

So based on all of this which is a better computer for me. The 15 base or the high end 15 with the dgpu? And if I do get the base model should I get 16 gb of ram or is 8 good enough for the next 3-4 years?

Wondering how you guys already ordered them. I am seeing "currently unavailable" on the apple site

I ordered a 13" Retina MBP with 256GB SSD and 16GB RAM :)

I currently have a 2009 white unibody Macbook that I've been using all day for 4 years. I upgraded it with 8GB RAM and a 240GB SSD so it's still pretty fast - I'm not 100% sure it needed replacing just yet, but well, I guess it's time for it to enjoy a well-deserved retirement in the hands of someone who doesn't use it so intensively!

Name was Albino... now I wonder how I will call the new one :D

UK order

Ordered my Top model 13" retina and 16gb ram!

Order is processing with scheduled delivery monday next week..

Any chance i will get hold of it this week?

Any other uk peeps over here?

Just ordered the 15" retina, 256gb, 16gb ram non discret version.

Can anyone recommend a slick TIGHT fit sleeve for the retina 15"?

BS

I just ordered 13" MacBook Pro Retina, 2.6 GHz, 8GB, 512 GB to upgrade from Early 2011 MacBook Pro (13" / 2.3 GHz / 4GB / 320 GB) :)

Delivery estimate of 30th Oct - 1st Nov at the moment (UK online order standard delivery option).

Does anyone know when the new Speck Shell cases are likely to be available?

Just ordered the base 15" model. A little bit disappointed about the lack of dgpu, but it's still the most suitable model for my needs, and a bit cheaper.

I have a delivery date of Friday (in the UK).

Don't be disappointed with the loss of dGPU. I've bought the base 15" (but with 16GB RAM) too. It's going to be great! :apple:

I got the 750m, but only "by accident" because I went for the top-end model for RAM and storage. The Iris Pro is indeed great, especially for OpenCL in applications like Final Cut Pro X or Adobe's new creative tools. It will also handle the retina display and scaled resolutions. I'd say that you only need the 750m if you want to have the fasted option for heavy real-time rendering (e.g. games) or if you absolutely need CUDA.

Holding a 13" rMBP 2.6GHz, 8GB, 512 SSD in my hands now. Couldn't be happier. Also couldn't believe they have them in stock in Germany today. Have fun everybody with your new MacBooks. cheers :)

I ordered about 10ish last night and have been given a delivery date of tomorrow. 15" 2.3 16GB 512ssd (think this is probably a 'standard' top end configuration so must have got lucky with local stock).
