Changed my order to an i7 :D

I bought a 15-inch, 2.6 GHz, 16 GiB RAM, 512 GB rMBP

Delivery: Oct 29 - Oct 31

I placed my order yesterday afternoon, just a few hours after the announcement. I got:

15-inch Retina MacBook Pro
2.6 GHz Intel Core i7, quad-core, turbo boost up to 3.8 GHz
16 GiB RAM
512 GB PCIe SSD

Because I got the 2.6 GHz processor, it will ship in "2-4 days". I coughed up the extra $15 for 2-3 day shipping, although the website estimates it will only arrive 1 day earlier. I probably would have paid even more money for overnight shipping if given the chance.

What I am most excited about:

8-hour battery life. I am currently living with about 2 hours.

USB 3.0, which will mean faster Time Machine backups.

802.11ac gigabit wifi, which I intend to use in my apartment. It won't matter for the internet, because that is only about 50 Mbps on a good day, but it will matter when I transfer video files between my laptop and my media server. I used to plug into Ethernet just for that. I am hoping those days are over.

I am sad it is not available with a matte screen, but I will see how the glossy screen is, and then I will probably buy an adhesive film to stick on it.

And the wait continues.

Does anyone know if changing the shipping address before entering the preparing shipment phase would affect anything? Probably not, but thought I'd ask anyway.

I am surprised that a first world country and a centre of international finance and commerce - Singapore, is not getting the new MBP till mid November.

I'm so glad I didn't buckle under pressure and buy an air, this new pro makes a mockery of it! If you bump up the 13" air to a 256gb drive and 8gb ram then it is only like £50 cheaper. £50 for beefier processors, better graphics and a screen that ****** (poos) all over the air's. Plus it only weighs around 200g more. Basically, buying the 13" air is now madness.

Just picked up a 13" i5/256/8GB from my local Apple store here in the UK, loving it!

:apple: iPhone 5 32GB White, 13" rMBP i5/256/8GB, iPad 3 16GB, iPod 5.5G 240GB, Shure SE425's :apple:

Best part of it all is that I opted for the quicker shipping. Figured I was already spending a boatload of money - do I really need to worry about saving $15? The order page showed Monday the 28th as my delivery date. But I got UPS tracking confirmation early this morning and it will be here tomorrow by end of day! Best $15 ever. Can't wait!

Sorry to tell you, but normal free shipping in a lot of cases are getting here tomorrow as well (including mine, New York). I was expecting that to happen, a lot of Apple's launch day releases are done with pre-setup shipments (usually pallets in Louisville) and they just have a system to slap addresses onto the boxes and get them out of there quickly.

That said, in the past some people have had success at getting Apple to refund the expedited shipping cost if they point out that the free shipping option at the same fast speed.

Mine's coming all the way from China, so I doubt it would be here tomorrow if opted for the standard shipping. In all likelihood it would be here Friday in that case (which is still pretty good). But I'm still very pleased with my decision. Enjoy your new MBP when it arrives!

Newest Apple Convert!!

:apple: Today is the day my life changes. :apple: I just ordered 15 in Retina Base Config! This is my first Mac! I been reading this site for 4 years and just joined today for my first post!

Windows 8 just pushed me over the edge. I was waiting months for the refresh. The time is NOW!!!

Wow - they are sending these out quick. I ordered a new Macbook Pro Retina 13" last night and it has already shipped for delivery tomorrow :D.

I'm in the UK and normally have to wait 10 days for it to get from China - but it seems this time they must have stock in the UK !

Apple shows my package as already being in the Netherlands, so I guess they must have shipped a bunch of them in advance.

I selected standard shipping. It is on it's way from Shanghai with a delivery date of tomorrow.

Got mine today from the App Store in London

Hi Guys,

Just got back from the Apple Store with a maxxxed out 13 incher. Was worried the 2.8 might bring the battery down quicker than the 9 hours stated but the Apple rep said it only goes to 2.8 when it's needed so that made me bite the bullet. Wanted to get the 256GB but there was none in stock, however really happy now considering I will be using it over the next 3 uni years.

Hope to see some reviews soon

What's the consensus on the base 15" model? Good enough for everyday stuff (no video editing/phptoshoping/hardcoregaming) I don't think I can afford the upper tier. That's $600 I can put into the next purchase in 4 years. Everyone seems to say the iris pro is not as good as last year's 650m but it's good for battery right?

Too bad I have to wait until 10/30 to receive, but it's coming.

Hi,
I ordered my mac on 10/22 around 4PM. Middle base 13/8GB/256Gb. I receive the notice from UPS which is delivery scheduled for 10/24. Is it kind of weird? How 2 days transmit possibly from china to US?

Doesn't Apple say Built in California? Also, it's not as if they offer so many unique options. They probably have a few pre-configured units that will meet BTO specs. Either that or it's air freighted from China with is only about 12 hours.

----------

My rMBP is listed as shipped but the tracking site is offline. Hopefully it'll show up tomorrow.

I bought the 15" 2.3 / 16 / 512 / 750m right when the store opened yesterday. I received tracking information that shows that the computer left Shanghai at 9:17 PM on 10/23. Has anyone looked to see what flights the computers are on?

It looks to me like this might be the one:

UPS 81 in route to Anchorage, Alaska with a landing time of 1:50 PM AKDT (which I think is 4:50 PM CDT).

Ordered the exact same model with the education discount last night and it shipped out this morning. I found it strange that on the main MacBook page, it mentions the NVIDIA card, but then on the page where you can select your options and in the order confirmation email it doesn't show that on the spec list. Odd.

I'm upgrading from a 2008 black MacBook as well. I think we'll both be very pleased :)

What the hell! Where's my shipping notice. It seems the 2.3 were already pre-configured whilst the 2.6 were not - that's what I get for going OTT.

Damn, you sure spent some money! I see you ended up going for the 2TB Time Capsule instead of 3TB.

If I hadn't gone i7 on my 13-inch, then I could definitely be having mine this week. Oh well, it's worth the extra 4-5 days wait.

Exact same dilemma here :D
After I hit that 'place order' button, I was wondering if I ordered the right one I put in my cart a night ago.

Bought this yesterday! cant wait to get it friday! kind of wanted the 2TB Time Capsule, but I already have a 1TB WD my book, so is it worth it? or? This is my first laptop! So I am super excited! my poor 2007 iMac core2duo won't be getting any love. :p anyway i'll prob post pictures of the sleeve in the case/sleeve thread. :apple:

i ordered mine this morning before the stores open as ship to store. When they store opened they inventoried their stock. apparently if you ordered ship to store, they do not back fill the order, you actually need to wait for your computer to get there from china. lovely. ill just sit here adn twiddle my thumbs

I don't have many possessions but this is perfect for me.

Mine is with the courier (picked up today for delivery tomorrow) and originated from Hinkley in the UK, so guessing they must have storage facilities there with stocks of standard configuration MBP's for quick dispatch :)
