Just placed a hold for pickup for my package.
UPS guys won't stop by my place until 3 to 5 P.M. -ish most in case, so I decided to place it to be held at the warehouse.
Agent told me that I will be able to pick it up by tomorrow but they are like opening the customer center (which is attached to the warehouse) by 4:30 for pickup.
but I'm still pretty sure that I can just walk in to the warehouse whenever I want and ask them to let me pick it up like last time I did :D

The reason why they go through Alaska is that cost less jet fuel with no critical time addition. cost efficiency is important, as always ;)
It will stop by in Alaska, and then will head down to Louisville, KY, where UPS Int'l hub is. That's where the split happens most in case :D
After then, mine will head down to GA with another plane, hopefully!

Ahh that makes sense, thanks!

I hope this still makes it then. I'm in Canada, Toronto.

From KY, does it usually go by air or ground?

It depends on the distance and the shipping method.
In my case, I paid additional $15 for 2-3 day shipping, so I'm sure that it will transit to another plane.
I think most in this case, they will send it to regional hub near your area by air.

BTW, last time when I purchased my mac back in 2010, FedEX took total 5 days to get to my place, even with $25 expedited shipping. They sucked.

I paid the $20 for faster shipping to but the estimates for the free were: Nov 4th and for paid was Oct 30th so not sure.

Thanks for all the info on UPS btw, makes the wait so much more bare able :D.

Which flight do you guys think it will catch? :p

Okay, I just need some people to talk to. I just ordered the 13" 2.4GHz 8GB 256GB for Uni. It was pretty expensive but I feel like it was worth it, since It'll probably last me through a long time of Uni. All my friends are kind of Apple hating and they tried to talk me into buying a Netbook. I've tried several and they just feel.. Slow and crappy where as the MBP feels fast and solid and just... good. Aditionally It's my first Mac, so I'm really excited for that aswell. I'm sure it was the right choice... Right? Right?

Well most people here will say you definitely made the right choice. I will have to agree with them a perfect choice, fast fluid, powerful, and with a great screen to work on. But mostly as a student you'll love osx, it is intuitive slick and a joy to use it makes work seem just a little less daunting and a little more fun. I'm currently using a 2010 MacBook Pro 13 (ssd and 8 gb ram) and have had 3 years of hassle free computing with the macbook handling everything I've thrown at it even a little light gaming ( KOTOR runs pretty well I have to say and dragon age) yours should run much better with the new specs so enjoy.

Does anyone know if Apple is using Fedex or UPS for expedited shipments to San Francisco Bay Area? I have always received my orders via Fedex, but some people are receiving them via UPS. Just curious. I ordered on 22nd, but it's still processing.

Yeah, San Francisco here, I chose expedited shipping, it's shipping with UPS.

Canadian BTOs?

Has anyone in Canada who placed a BTO moved past the "Processing Items" stage yet?

I ordered about 20 minutes after the store came back online on Tuesday and have probably worn out the Order Status link in the Thank You email by now.

I know I should just be patient, but... y'know... I don't wanna wait anymore!

Edit: It changed to "Preparing for Shipment" as I was writing this post!

California resident here. Ordered the high end 15" rmbp through Bhphotovideo.com because they dont charge tax.

I originally emailed then asking if they price match apple's student rates, which is $2399 for the high end with 2.3 ghz. They said they don't but made an offer of $2550 shipped if I can provide my student ID. I countered with $2500 and they accepted.

So I got the high end rmbp for $2500 SHIPPED NO TAX.

Saved around $400 with 15 minutes of negotiating. I'd say sweet score overall :D

That sounds awesome, didn't know know they negotiate like that. :D

I ordered a 13" BTO and it went from processing to preparing this morning. No updates since. It seems like they're taking longer with the 1TB Flash Storage option than the others (mine was 512). It also looking like there's only one plane a day coming out of Shanghai, and it leaves around 9:26AM EDT so there's still hope for you.

I bought mine in store today! My first Mac. I bought the base 15" Retina Model (2.0GHz, 8GB RAM, 256 SSD, Iris Pro) and I absolutely love it. I got my student discount and the education store Apple Care and it came to £1503 ($2435).

haha, how do you know it is that one? Just curious :p

Just hope it leaves from Louisville on time, else it won't make morning truck.

There's only two active cargo for Shanghai - Anchorage - Louisville route, UPS 80 and UPS 81 (82~87 is inactive for reason that I don't know) ;)
UPS 80 is currently heading back to Shanghai from Anchorage.

and as always, google let me do such things, which I appreciate much! :D

Weird, I thought there was a direct China->California flight too, but maybe I was mistaken. Would be nice if the West Coast shipments got split up in Anchorage and flown down to their Ontario hub, though.

Yeah. Would have got here way earlier too. I see the UPS site now says "In transit to Louisville, KY, US" so it's actually going there. Seems kinda far, but whatever.

I guess the UPS hub is there and then it will split up to the destination. Gets to Louisville near midnight and probably leave near 2AM or something like that for California for us.

Yeah tomorrow doesn't seem like it would be possible now. I guess now I know why it says Monday for me. I don't think they ship Saturdays either otherwise it would have said that.

They finally took off from Alaska with a little bit of delay.

Same departure scan for me. Looks like our rMBPs are on the same plane! :D

ALL international UPS package go through customs in Louisville.

I checked FlightAware for the last couple of days and didn't find any non-domestic UPS flights arriving in Ontario. Wikipedia is either wrong or they're all going through Anchorage first. FedEx was easier since they cleared customs in Alaska IIRC.

anyone have experience with ship to store? how long does that usually take

I did ship to store also thinking it would come fast ...Base model 15" Retina... on 10/23. 7am. Checked back online and saw that store had them in stock around 10am. I ordered a couple hours too early i guess  It says my item is shipping to store now. I wonder if i will be in the next batch that comes or if I have to wait until the est. date of 10/30?
