Yeah I agree with you on that one. While I loved the portability of the air and the form factor, especially when it was released, the display quality quickly became not so great at all once the retina macbooks it the scene particularly with the intro of the 13 inch version.

I suppose that's what the new RMB is all about right now. Think we can kiss the macbook air goodbye from apples lineup.

Not to say the MBA screen is bad for its class, but honestly it's like night and day. Especially with text and photos where everything is so much sharper.

Hi all

Just had delivered an early 2015 13 inch rMBP, 3.1ghz, 16gb Ram, and 512gb SSD from EBay, has only had 9 battery cycles so still ha stage new laptop smell!!

This is replacing a 2012 15 inch retina pro,

Very impressed with it so far, it will primarily be used for Lightroom and image processing, I had a quick go and it had no problem processing some large files. One of the main reasons to purchase it was the ability to plug in 4K at 60hz. I plugged in my Dell p2715q, it worked like a charm, even with some high resolution photos, I couldn't detect any lag with I was pleased about, it was getting warm though.

Certainly looking forward to using this more!
just out of curiosity would you mind telling us how much you saved buying it that way?

No problem- it was £1499 and free delivery, it still had the wrapping round the laptop and the accessories too, I specced up the same one to £1729 from Apple,

James

Replaced my late 2013 2.4/8/256 with a 2015 2.9/8/512, mostly because I found I really could use the extra onboard storage and partly because I had a rMB for a while and completely fell in love with the new trackpad. I wouldn't have done it if I didn't really want the extra storage, though.

Got a great deal! 2015 macbook pro retina 13 inch with 256gb ssd. Open box from Best Buy and 10% off coupon. Grand total: $1288 (tax included). Not a bad discount for a $1,500 laptop! Can’t wait for it to arrive!

Pretty slim if they update then Wednesday as rumored. I just hope that they have immediate availability as I've been waiting for a new MBP for a while with the same configuration as you.

UPS is really pissing me off :( Normally my rMPR 13 early 2015 had to be delivered last Friday! Friday I've got the delay message from ups due to a mechanical failure. Ok then my rMPR stayed for 2 days in Koln (Germany). Yesterday (Monday) I've called ups and they simply said you have to contact apple so they can open a case. So I did that. After 5 min that I've called with Apple I got a new depart scan, 2 hours later I got arrive scan in my country (this all was still yesterday evening)! Till now (2pm on Tuesday) still no movement again! Nothing! I've called apple again and they are going to investigate it. This is really ridiculous! My rmbp is now flying 7 days! 7!!!!

Ordered a new 15-inch rMBP

I just ordered a new 15-inch rMBP. 2.8 GHz processor, 1 TB SSD. I chose in-store pickup, delivery is scheduled for June 3rd, which seems a bit slow.

I noticed that the standard 2.5 model had June 1st, seems quite slow. I guess that will give me more time to deliberate as I will be out of town that week.

How did you get such fast shipping dates? I even payed extra for shipping and it says it won't arrive until the 28th or June 1st. (I won't die from the wait, I am just curious as I ordered the same configuration except not the 1TB storage.)

No idea, that's what it says... I am in Australia though. The status still hasn't changed.

Was really on the fence on about this week's new rMBP, then I saw THIS on the Apple Certified Refurbished site for ONLY $1,999:

15.4-inch (diagonal) Retina display MacBook Pro (Originally released July 2014)
16GB of 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM

512GB Flash Storage
720p FaceTime HD Camera
Intel Iris Pro Graphics and NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M

This has the SAME processor as the just-released model. I decided that Forced-touch, AMD dGPU, SSD boost (to make it faster-than-already-insanely-fast) and 1 hour more battery life weren't worth $500 extra.

Plus, since this model is STILL being sold in the Apple Store (for $2350 ), I haven't purchased an "old, discontinued" model (very important when I need to sell it in the Fall if a Skylake rMBP is released).

(Now to find a used official rMBP box on eBay.)
