I love the macbook so far! I jsut wish it would stop mooing every 5 seconds!!!!! It's driving me nuts!!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Thats not normal:confused: . All I can hear on my MB is the fans running when it gets really hot. I think I heard them running 4 or 5 times in the last 20 odd days. That too only for 30-40 seconds before they go silent again. Also it`s just regular grrrrrrrr kinda sound than mooing. Get it replaced.

iBookAdam is (weep) dead!

I bit the bullet 2 days ago and bought the Black MacBook, 100Gig HD, 1 Gig RAM. I'm sooo excited that my heart is going to jump out of my chest.

I'm upgrading from a 366MHz graphite iBook (Rev. A) that I bought before my freshman year at college, so I'm jumping into the future, not from the present, but from the past.

Now comes the hard part - waiting the two weeks for it to arrive!

And now my screenname has become a casualty of my happinness.

But don't cry for me, for my BlackBook will show no mercy.

I'm loving it.
I've only had one laptop before and that was a horrible desktop replacement... this thing is a work of art in comparison. Brilliant design. I think people (myself included) can sometimes worry too much about the details of components like the graphics cards, without realising that the computer should also be designed as a whole, to work well as a whole.
My only gripes are with OSX as I'm still getting used to it. It's only be a day though ^___^

Ahhhh.... Last time I checked, data transfer rates from my Bluetooth Phone(Sony W550i BTW) to my iBook G4 was 50Kbps. I was transferring some MP3s to my phone. So IMO even if your 3G phone gives you high Bandwidth, you`d be limited to 50Kbps in your MB as bluetooth will be the bottleneck.

I m saying this only coz of my experience with Sony W550i and iBook G4. I dont know if the bluetooth of either of them is slow or something. This might not be a problem if the new phones have a faster bluetooth connection.

Ah, Thanks for the info Vikas. I never thought about the bluetooth being a bottleneck. I get about 370kbps with the 3G EDGE data card. I seen some little card reader type things that take a PCMCIA card and connect to the laptop via USB, but they seem really expensive for what they are (like.. $290). I'll probably still get the white 2.0 Macbook at some point over the summer. It's damn hard to resist it (even with it's mooing... Hell, I like cows :D ).

Thanks again

I Love the Macbook, wish i had one. :(

Me too. I was gonna say "I love my MacBook, and I don't even have one yet" but you beat me to it. I'm still getting by with an iBook G3/600MHz, so I can only imagine how fast-like-lightning the MacBook will seem, plus there's all the extra features. I'm stoked for all kinds of little stuff, like scrolling trackpad, more vRAM, etc, not to mention the big stuff (screen, iSight, etc).

I'm as sure as I can be about anything that I'm gonna buy one eventually, so I keep asking myself: why not just buy it now so you can start using it?!? But for some reason I just won't pull the trigger. I wish I knew what I was waiting for, because I really love my new computer that I don't even have yet.

maybe not?

Adam,

When I ordered my BTO MacBook, the response was about 2 weeks as well, but I got it in less than 1/2 that time. Don't mean to give you false hope, but keep an eye on your e-mail for shipping data...

Mine was a 120Gig BTO with standard memory.

Its just not fair, I've got to wait till July for the UK student deals!

Hahahahaha. Although i'm in the Uk, from the beauty of pcwb.com, i can get a blackbook and a 2GB nano for £908 which still saves £120 off the student offer!!

Yup, I love my Macbook.
It's only been 24 hours, but the fans have gone on only once, for about 10-15 seconds the first time I used the combo drive. Otherwise silent. Screen is lovely. A subjective opinion of course, but I love the keyboard. Running right now at 58C according to Core Duo Temp. I am admittedly a very light user, and haven't given the machine anything substantial enough to make it "moo", but as far as I can see it's flawless. I'm even holding off a week or two on the RAM, as for surfing, email, Word, I haven't once needed a speed boost.

I ordered a White MacBook 2 Ghz, and it's been "shipped". The only problem is it's a long weekend now so I have a tense 3 day wait at least

I was seduced by the "darkside", and paid the xtra $150 for the color job.

the only downside is that it doesn't wanna wake up from Carbon-freeze(Hibernation)?

Why not get a USB data cable for your 3g phone and connect it to your MB. The usb cable wont even cost you 20$. Or in case your phone has WiFi(quite a few phones are shipping with Wifi Built in) then I guess you can connect using WiFi too(havent tried it. But I guess it should work).

I thought there was only 1 fan?

Vikas Soni-- and anyone else who has moved from a G4 iBook: what do you think of the wide screen? I dont watch many movies on my G4 ibook and I think I would miss the screen height, particularly in web browsing-- does the resolution upgrade make up for that? I've never been much of a fan of widescreens on laptops-- thanks

My iBook G4 is 1024 x 768. I think that's standard for iBooks.

The MacBooks are 1280 x 800

So even though it's a widescreen, you're still getting an extra 42 pixels of height (along with an extra 256 pixels in width). I would say yes, the resolution upgrade more than makes up for it.

White 2.0 Coming Tomorrow!

I'm sure I'll love mine when its in my hands tomorrow along with my discounted White 30 GB iPod with Video!

a week ago I didn't know a thing about apple....went to the apple store to look at the nano and was amazed w/ the technology of the mac computers. Walked out with a 1.83GHz White macbook. Why white? Cause black laptops have been around for years...i think the white one stands out so much nicer :) But to each their own. I wish, now, that i would have ante'd up for the 2.0GHz...but this suites my needs just fine.

hey guys. for those of you who ordered online, i'm curious as to how much time elapsed between when you ordered your macbook and when it arrived. also, was it cto? i ordered mine on saturday, and i really hope it arrives before this saturday (it could be problematic if it doesnt). it still hasnt shipped :(

I ordered mine on May 20, it shipped May 23, and arrived in Tampa May 26.

By the way....

I love my Macbook so much more than my MBP 15". It's just sooo cool. I can hear the whining on occasion if I stick my ear against the comp, but if I can't hear it when I'm working, is it really a problem?

Mooing, on occassion. Only when temp is borderline fan on/fan off apparently. Too cool, nothing; too hot, fans on.

Quietest, best computer I have ever used.

I love my MacBook! If it were not for this website I would be stuck with an iBook and I would hate all of you and the iBook. Well not really hate the iBook but I would just be jealous from all of the MacBook owners. :D

yeah my MacBook is sweet!! i have no mooing dont even know what it sounds like so if i do have it, i dont know about it and its not bothering me! it doesnt get too hot either.
loads of software which is great
the screen is sooo bright compared to the previous iBook!
anyone waiting trying to decide, get off your butt and buy one!!! you won't regret it. But get more than 512MB of RAM....

Just got mine. Unwrapped it to charge it before i got to work. I'm actually more excited about playing with this than i was the MacBook Pro i returned. Well no that's a lie although i do think the white is a lot nicer than the dull metallic grey.

Yeah, received mine 4 hours ago, so not really used it loads. Can hear a whine, but I own the Intel iMac and this seems to be normal with the Intel machines. It is barely noticable and I should know because I use the iMac for audio production (this little beauty will be my DJing tool, hahaha!!!).

No moos yet. Again, don't think it will be a prob. I've got 1.25gb of Apple ram in here. Used Orcalogic for some ram for my iMac (maxed it with 2gb), and swapped the Apple stock 1gb stick from the iMac for one of the 256's in the macbook. It seems to be flying, but I have yet to try it with Logic Pro etc.

Gonna buy a 7200 HD before I do too much more with this machine thou, but first impressions, for the money, 10 out of 10, can't fault it.

Oh and the Airport is better than the iMac!!!
