Hi everyone. I have been a longtime lurker on MR and the forums gaining loads of info and hints so I felt it was time to register and one, say thanks and two, contribute to a thread.
I tried to talk myself out of getting a wearable when Apple released the watch convincing myself I did not need it. Secretly, my heart longed to have one. My birthday was the other day and everyone I knew gave me Store vouchers. Yes, I am that easy to buy for. I ended up with about £265 in my passbook. So MrsB sent me out and told me not to come back without an

Watch.
Since the launch I had my eyes on the Green Sport 42 version and in the store I nearly took the Space Grey - the sales rep said that if i liked to rotate bands or straps I may have more flexibility with the alum casing so I bought the one I had longed for all along.
Day 1 was pretty good getting to know it. I found it fairly intuitive and done the usual showing it off and playing around. Then by 10pm, the battery died. I was also motivated to do 3 x 2mile brisk walks pushing the Grandson in his pram - the first deliberate exercise I have done in 10+ years.
Day 2 was spent removing useless apps and glances that I had loaded purely to have stuff on the watch - I was still figuring out just exactly what I was using it for at this stage. Day 2 also included leaving my phone in the living room and going into another room and telling my watch to "play a fart sound" - which it did on my phone to everyones amusement.
Day 3 and another 3 x 2mile brisk walks and they are getting easier. I have upped my pace and reduced my time. The fitness function really intrigues me at this point. I have also found that a couple of apps were battery drainers and removed them. I am now less tethered to my 6+ which was never an arms length away from me at any time.
Day 4 and I am comfortable with my watch and my Spigen Rugged Armor arrived. I was wary of dents and scuffs as well as potential theft issues in certain locales. Mind you, having both a bright green watch strap and iPhone case is a giveaway. Only 2 x 2mile walks today but finding life a little more connected and a little less reliant on my phone.
Day 5 Usually I would experience buyers remorse at this stage with something so expensive but seeing as it only cost me about £70, I am happy. I can live with the features we have just now and I am excited for OS2 which should be really fun to use.
So I WILL be keeping my

Watch.
I still have to find exactly where it will fit in my life as a wearable but its fun doing that,
I am glad I bought it,
I am glad I got the case for it,
I will purchase Apple Care in the next 3 weeks,
I will put a 3rd party leather strap on it when I decide on a decent one,
I will use it every day, and I will probably get the next gen.
Some say that in its current form it is simply a dumb screen and glorified notification centre - not me, as with every Aple product it is about experience, ownership AND the future potential of the product.
Now don't get me started on how awesome Apple Pay will be with it.
So thats my first post (rant). Thanks for reading
