By that logic, Amazon is in the red and shaking in their booties.

You're hilarious.

It will take Amazon almost 20 years at their current profit rate to make the profit that Apple makes in just 1 quarter.

Amazon doesn't make any money, especially off of their devices, devices that, other than the eInk Kindle, don't sell. And don't give me the millions and millions of Kindle Fires sold BS. They sold well for 2 months then sales crashed. Nobody needs them or uses them.

iPad has 91% of all tablet internet traffic worldwide.

I'm too lazy to send you the link to the Rolling Stones jolly rendition of "Oh No Not You Again" but it's a tempting thought.

We have already seen several iterations of why you think what you think about the mini iPad. So don't get one. Many of the rest of us would like one, and will get one, and use it for whatever we think works well on that size tablet. I'm willing to let Tim Cook deal with the results of this rollout.

Why clutter my brain with wondering whether some CEO made the right decision today? I'd rather focus on making sure I get my own stuff sorted. If I elect to use two different size tablets in that process, bully for me and not bad for Cook either, eh? ;)

And just for Mr. Cook's further edification: the market will likely support nano and monster iPads as well. :) Now I too have repeated myself, to square things up with Sven.

Have fun with your passive matrix Mini display.

You guys do realize Steve was known to make comments that were in the best interests of Apple's(& not always the consumer) pipeline of product releases & updates. Any smart CEO would...

And, by the way, some of Apple's products are 4 years into production, so I wouldn't doubt Steve knew some of the specs incorporated into the mini.

And, I'll say this... Steve knew a iPad mini was needed eventually, he just had to showcase the iPad first to magnify the tablet market he pioneered. This is all Steve still in my opinion, and I would say we won't see the last of Steve's creations till 2015-2016 rolls around. The last thing he did want to do, was make a TV remind you... or should I say, change the TV.

When that happens, I know Apple & Tim Cook will have made Steve proud.

Yes yes, we all know this. Disinformation machine. Confusion... etc. We know we know we know.

No, the Mini is not Steve. The Mini was simply 1 of 126 tablet prototypes Steve and Jony worked with. Just like the current Apple TV UI was a prototype design Steve trashed 5 years ago.

Steve is long dead and the inmates are now running the asylum.

Hello newbie who only joined three days ago so he/she could complain about the iPad mini.

Based on your previous feeling on this subject, I will have to take a pass on your opinion.

You are welcome to restated this opinion in six months to let use know how it turned out.

Thanks again.

Hello MrMoore thanks for chiming in. Nobody cares what you think. Anybody is free to create an account and post here. Nobody needs your permission. And no I didn't just create an account here to talk about the Mini.

For anyone who wants to derail threads and make personal attacks, I have been reporting every single one of those posts, so keep it up if you want it won't get you anywhere.

I actually think quite the opposite. This will be one Cook's greater achievements. Getting app penetration right out the gate will be the number one contributing factor, that's what turned me off the Nexus 7 alone. The $329 price point should have been $299 in my opinion but it won't stop it from selling. Huge win I think for customers wanting an iPad experience without breaking the bank too from an iPad relativistic view anyways.

No Retina display no way. You'll see.

Funny how this product is apples biggest mistake...

I have a sister that is 10+ years younger then me, and she will be getting one from me for xmas, i also do plan on getting my gramps one early next year for his birtday. Now, I do own 1 ipad... and i have only purchased one ipad for my self, however, they have managed to sell me 2 of these ipad minis and thats not even including whether or not i buy one for my self.

Oh wait... how was this a mistake on their end again?

1. You obviously haven't seen how many Android devices have different screen sizes. Also app's are developed based on resolution, not screen size. The resolution of the iPad Mini is the same as the iPad 1/2 so therefore you are wrong.

2. Refer to my answer above, all current apps will work fine.

3. It won't sale because it's too small? Have you seen the sales of the Nexus 7/Kindle Fire/Nook etc? There's clearly a market there for it.. they don't just make a product and hope it sticks normally. They evaluate it from an economical standpoint to determine profits.

With Android developers design for 3 bands, this solves variability.

Have I seen sales of Fire, Nook, etc.? Ya, they're abysmal. But besides that, nobody's using them. iPad has 91% of global Internet traffic share.

You WILL NOT just be able to leave your Apps alone. UI must be tweaked and changed because the pixels are smaller on the Mini and everything scales down. Schiller is full of it. It's not that simple.
I'm surprised that a developer like you didn't see that the combination of 163 ppi and 1024x768 (or 2048x1536 for what matters) would mean that the UI elements, while keeping the same pixel size as the iPad, will be the exact physical size to those on an iPhone, keeping the overall usability standars safe. Therefore, if you created an app for the iPad that wasn't ideal for an iPad but for an enlarged iPhone, then and only then you're gonna have a bad time.

And if you read the reviews today you'd see how people are knocking the Mini because it really doesn't fit in any pocket but some claim the Nexus to be able to do.
I used a Nexus some days ago and it surely didn't fit in any of the pockets I had on me (probably because it isn't made to be exactly pocketable). Probably it could fit in a big coat and it does in a lab coat, but so does the mini.

Cook's legacy is secure. He knew he had no shot of being the cultural industry icon that Steve Jobs was.

So instead he is turning Apple into an even bigger cash cow. Speeding up release cycles, making more incremental increases, finding gravy profit revenue streams (Lightning adapter anyone.)

While people can say he doesn't have the vision or leadership that Jobs had, they will not be able to argue that he didn't increase Apple's already insane profits and market share.

I know you won't see this because are have been banned.. but the Nexus 7's sales were not/are not abysmal. They aren't "iPad tier" but that should be expected.
