2 year gap - pfffft! The Mac Pro wishes it would have had _only_ a two year gap ... And the Mac mini is hoping to outlast the Pro and win the gap crown!

What? I can get an iPad Pro 9.7 with 1 day shipping in any configuration on Apple.com. I think it's likely they'll update the 12.9 with the 9.7's spec but they're sticking with the 9.7 pro for a while.

How about bigger gaps and better updates? I can't believe Apple calls the removal of a headphone jack and a solid home button an "update."

Well you have a point. If Apple would do huge redesign updates every two years instead of a small one every year, I might be able to get behind that. But it would have to be a big revolutionary update though, not 6 to 6s.
 
i like yearly updates at the same time, even if its just a processor why not? there is a certain group of people who like latest and greatest (myself included). i don't think it makes sense to wait for a big update to update it, otherwise it may never happen, and consumers end up buying 2 year old tech (sound familiar?)

the best time to put out a new ipad is nov'ish like when the 12.9 ipad pro came out, then you can include the lastest processor...the only downside to a new ipad pro coming out now is they might not include the A11X because they don't want to rein on the iphone parade. Which i don't get that either, its no secret the new iphone will have the A11 and it doesn't make it any slower to release it in an ipad first, and not going to make someone NOT buy an iphone...

I agree, it's not like the iPad canabalizes the iPhone, it's the other way around.

The iPhone will sell no matta da wedda
 
I thought we weren't going to put ourselves through another "iPad Pro coming soon" thread after the April 14th debacle.

It's NOT coming soon, it won't be here until fall, earliest. Apple won't launch in summer because summer is a very weak shopping season.

It's iPad Pro targeted at higher education business market a late summer launch makes since a normal fall launch would miss out on a lot of the back to school sales they could gain. It would make a lot of since for them to do a summer launch

That's some wishful thinking 😛 they have previously released them in October and March, why would they change that?

Idk why would they show their cards for what they plan to do with mac lineup and admit Mac Pro failed. Apple has been spontaneous so far in 2017 I don't see why they would change now 😉

I'm in this exact market, working while taking a grad business course starting a couple of days on May1. I love, loved my 12.9 AND pencil but sold them off on earlier rumours (thought 32 GB would get heavily discounted in used market). I now regret it terribly as I'm resorting to original Air to do my pre-work and finding it miniscule for this. That pro 12.9 screen is utterly amazing, so the second it's announced, I will chuck vast quantities of cash at Apple to get one pronto. I'm dyin' here - please don't wait 'till the fall to release. I need it now for student work!!

I feel for you man, once you go to the 12.9 inch, the Air 1 feels too small and slow! 🙁

Thanks. I hope Apple does some releases soon, or at least fix the supply chain issue and start selling refurb iPad Pros or something!

You are correct, this site is called MacRUMORS but it is not called MAC-make-stuff-completely-up-simply-to-get-people-riled-up-for-my-own-pleasure.

You seem to imply that all rumors should have the same weight of credibility. The April 14th rumor was completely a work of fiction, from the mind of a single individual. If you want to equate that "rumor" with a rumor from an analyst who has contacts with companies who produce parts for Apple, go right ahead. I've got a big beautiful bridge that I can sell you, real cheap! 😛
