Really now? Is that as specific as you would like to be or would you rather disprove me? I would like that add that this is now the dumbest I have read this entire month. Congrats!

Facts:
1. There are tons of stories about Walmart customers not getting what they expected.
2. It has happened to me 3 times, which is why I will never shop at Walmart again
3. There is a reason people love Walmart's return. They will accept anything. They employ bumpkins who know nothing about electronics. I can go to Walmart right now, buy a brand new SATA HD and return an old IDE hard drive. Tell them it was incompatible with my computer and guess what they would do. Put it back on the shelf.

Go try it yourself and tell me if you ever want to purchase electronics from Walmart, or any B&M for that matter. I took a jab at Walmart since that was the topic of this thread.

Thanks for putting your foot in your mouth though. I am sure many others will come and laugh at your moronic comment.

I also enjoyed reading this gem from you:

Not sure really how this forum thing works; but in your defense, got an Ipad for Christmas today, (that was purchased from Walmart), opened it only to find paper cut to fit the weight and size of the Ipad that should have been there. The box was wrapped neatly in cellophane as if it had never been opened- not sure how they would have known either, but we are still sad and VERY unhappy campers.

I am typically a Walmart Hater for different reasons, nothing to do with *what* they sell. I just wanted to say that I made a trip to Future Shop (BestBuy is half an hour away and the nearest AppleStore is a good hour away), to purchase 2 ipod touch 4s before Christmas as gifts for my boys.

i was taken aback by the sheer number of salespeople in view all over the store, tons of them all over the floor, others congregated in swarms amongst themselves in corners just laughing and gabbing away, not working. All I could think of was how much markup there had to be on FS products for them to be able to be profitable wasting money on allllllll those salespeople, and it turned me right off of buying anything from there. I was bugged by a different vulture every 2 steps I took, even within the same little departments I would look in, by offers of 'assistance', one after another. 'No thanks just looking', over and over and over again, ... one even asked after being told 'no', if he could 'help me look'.. in my world, 'no' means NO.

I overheard one of the vultures trying to sell a customer who was buying an ipad, a FS warranty.. guy asked if it would be covered if it gets dropped and breaks.... um noooooo.. then what is that warranty covering if Apple already covers the product themselves??

I left FS because I couldn't stand it. I had some other stops to make.. went to a game store.. and while there, decided to stop at Walmart just because it was convenient and in the same parking lot. I was so happy when I saw they had the ipods I initially came out to buy.. piles of shiny new ipods of all kinds locked up in a cabinet, smiling at me with no humans forcing them to do so.. same price as everywhere else.. and the staff were actually working instead of jumping on people.. I had to ask for assistance.. which is personally how I prefer it, because if I want help, I WILL ask for it, and I'll even be happy to wait for it if I have to (up to a point). I was told if there is an issue within 30 days the item is simply exchanged for a new one.. after that I deal with Apple directly.. which is also how I would prefer it... they aren't going to bother with some geek in the back who may or may not be qualified, pretending to fix it.

Walmart got my money that night, .. $319 x 2 of them plus some add-ons and some other things since I was there anyway and had several things on my to-do list.. I wasn't pressured into buying a useless warranty. I became a hypocrite for shopping there... but people will do what they have to do to get their stuff done so I have no apologies to myself.

If Apple stands behind their product, (which, as I understand it, they do), what difference does it really make where it's purchased, at least when it's an off-the-shelf product with no customization options and no expertise required to sell it? If they're selling ipods, why not also sell ipads? I can still purchase the Applecare warranty if I want to.. and my shopping experience was simple and to the point, I'm happy, my kids are happy, yay!

Oh and PS... there were actual ipods IN the cases when they were opened on Christmas morning.. not sure how a paper can be cut to be the same weight as an ipad tho... ?? Confusing!!!!

Actually the most common and known issue with bricks and rocks being in boxes did not start with wal-mart at all, so I am not even sure what you are talking about. The original stories had to do with a General Merchandising Company out of Minnesota who has a big red bulleseye as a logo.

Your interference with this stupid idea that any noticeable percentage of wal-mart items are replaced with rocks is ignorant.

Hmm...do you actually have any proof of that? Or are you just spouting things out with nothing to back it up? Either way it's irrelevant, for we aren't talking about who started it, we're talking about how wal mart is doing it now. Frankly I would never consider buying anything from electronics at wal mart - I just don't trust them. Why by there when you could get a MUCH higher average satisfaction rating over at your neighborhood apple store for only a few bucks more?

However - I'm sure that wal mart will now be spending some money on advertising for the iPad. Getting the word out with everyone else is a good thing.

Wal-Mart and Apple has confirmed iPad will go to the discount store at the end of the week. It is a big step that will bring the tablet PC, once considered a niche device, hundreds of windows across the country and put the total footprint to more than 2,300 iPad locations.
