Set you expectations appropriately, the 5G Story will very-likely Run Out of Steam mid-2022.

Then, Apple will be on it's own to try to sell next year's iPhones !

QCOM's 5G chips, & the Cellular Service Providers beating each other up (to keep existing & attract new customers), drove the success of the "12" & "13" iPhone families !

That's out the window mid/late-2022 !

I believe there is going to be a BIG drop-off in iPhone Unit Sales starting mid/late 2022.

Just about everyone who wants a 5G iPhone will have one by then.

And, many of those into Game Apps will hold-off, waiting for Apple's AR/VR device.

In other words, those who have been buying new "Pro Max" iPhones every year, won't be any longer ! ... at least, NOT annually.

"Pro Max" iPhone Unit Sales could Dry Up significantly, starting with the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The 5G Story running out of steam & AR/VR on the horizon are the reasons.

NOT Rocket Science, very predictable !

The last time Apple had a surge in iPhone Unit Sales was with the 6/6+ (2014) & 6s/6s+ (2015), when they UP-sized the display !

On Nov 1st, 2018, just after the XR was released, Apple announced it would NO longer report iPhone Unit Sales.

Just over two months later, Apple kicked off a ramp'd-up Trade In Program, which has been very successful for them.

I suspect we'll ALL see it ramp'd up again, starting Next Sept :)

Unless/Until Tim, Phil, & Matt, get their act together on picking third-party apps, it's ALL Apple has !

Peak iPhone very-likely occurred LAST year, when consumers were more-flush with Coin, thanks to Stimulus !

ALL downhill from there, till Tim Cook is replaced !

I really hope the titanium rumor pans out. I exchanged my 12 Pro for a 12 within the return window because of the weight, and I almost upgraded my 12 to a 13 Pro for ProMotion and the camera improvements, but the weight held me back again. Also, I still prefer the 12 blue over any of the Pro colors. Even neutral graphite doesn’t do it for me like a real black would.

The death of the 5.4" model is a real ****in' bummer.

Guess I'll be picking up a iPhone 13 Mini next September once I've paid off my iPhone 12 Mini and its Applecare lapses. Here's hoping 256GB models are still readily available.

If you curl a 13 Pro Max for 30 minutes a day for 2 weeks it will get lighter.

We're still months away from the launch of the iPhone 14 models, which we're expecting in September 2022, but we've already heard enough rumors about the new devices that we have a clear picture of what to expect.

Rumors for upcoming products can sometimes be hard to follow, so we thought we'd do an at-a-glance rumor summary for the iPhone 14 so our readers can get a quick overview of what we might see without having to delve into tons of reading. We've separated the info into iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro lists, as these models are expected to be quite different in 2022.
iPhone 14 Pro Models

  • 6.1 and 6.7-inch sizes
  • No notch, under display Face ID hardware
  • Hole-punch cutout for front-facing camera
  • 120Hz ProMotion display
  • Triple-lens camera
  • 48-megapixel wide-angle lens
  • Titanium chassis possible
  • iPhone 13 flat-edged design
  • 8GB RAM
  • Less/no camera bump possible
  • Faster 5nm A16 chip
  • Faster 5G
  • Satellite-based emergency features
  • WiFi 6E
iPhone 14 Models

  • 6.1 and 6.7-inch sizes (no 5.4-inch)
  • Notch and standard Face ID hardware
  • Likely no ProMotion, but possible
  • Dual-lens camera setup
  • Less/no camera bump possible
  • Aluminum chassis
  • iPhone 13 flat-edged design
  • 6GB RAM
  • Faster 5nm A16 chip
  • Faster 5G
  • Satellite-based emergency features
  • WiFi 6E
Note that these are early rumors, and some of these features might not pan out or might have to be scrapped if there are manufacturing issues. What we get in September might ultimately look different than what we're expecting in December, but in past years, most early iPhone rumors we've heard have turned out to be accurate.

If you want to read more about the iPhone 14, we have an in-depth roundup that's regularly updated with all of the new rumors.

How about a much longer battery? A newly designed interface? We've had the same one for how long? Remove that stupid shading that you have at the bottom of the screen on the iPhone. The interface just looks old. How about a much better antenna to eliminate bad reception and dropped calls? How about making it damage proof? If you don't have a phone that can break then you don't have a need for a third party Apple repair shop. How about a camera that produces a picture that doesn't get pixelated when you zoom in on it? How about a better material that handles the heat of the phone? Unless you use a case, the phone can get really hot.

The rumor of satellite phone features interests me. Although, I don't know if it's even currently possible, lol

Another year of Tim Cook saying “This is the best iPhone we've ever made. We think you are going to love it.

No, this is the year they are going to get up and say:”Really, this phone sucks compared to last year. Why even bother? Sure it’s faster, better camera — but all you do is scroll Twitter anyway. We’re pivoting to NFTs”

Or maybe not.

would like hole punch camera but if they keep the notch then fine. getting rid of the camera bump is a must. thicken up the body and stick a larger battery in.

will probably sell my 12 pro max for the 14 pro max. i'm just disappointed 6.7" is the largest size. i'd like something a bit bigger. maybe 7.1-7.6" i'd be tempted to grab an iPad Mini if i could use it as a phone!
