Exactly. Another thing that will be discussed endlessly for the next month by the usual YouTube suspects and then largely forgotten about. Yet another Touch Bar.

What are some of the other ones?

I feel they could have achieved both a mechanical mute switch and a pressable action button using one mechanism. Something like a vertical mute switch while also being pressable.

It’s worth mentioning that we only have industry standards because of the EU.
We in the US have had industry standard things for a very very long time -- like electrical outlets, voltages, and that's just all I've seen in the last few minutes. The EU didn't invent standards....

Standards by country and by industry are not the same thing. We have different plugs in the U.K. that should have been adopted as a worldwide standard because they’re a lot safer than 2-pin ones for example.

I was only complaining of that particular sentence that basically said the EU created standards for everyone, when that definitely isn't the case.

More like international standards so travellers could still use their mobile phone between borders.

Ooh, I like that. Instant photo button!
It would require a bit of anticipation from the OS. Maybe ML based recognition of raising the phone to start the camera and buffering image data; there is a creepiness risk in having an always-on-camera, but we got used to devices listening to our prompts, too.

Not to me. Titanium has amazing qualities. The periodic table has some fascinating metals if you take a look.
:)

Just not an interest of mine. I can understand strength, weight, and tensile differences, but if it's not to a scale that matters to me, it's just not interesting to me. Unfortunately it's just in the edge, so the weight/thickness difference isn't enough. Now if they replaced all the aluminum and steel in an iPhone, that would be interesting.

I’m not sure if it has been mentioned, but I couldn’t find any mention online of this.

I am wondering if you assign the action button a different function other than ring/mute. How do you then ring/mute the iPhone, is there going to be an option to ring/mute in the control centre?

You can be certain of it. Since the button is no physical switch anymore, it's easy to have this ring mode toggle in the control center even when you can toggle it with the button.

Don't know how I missed this on the Apple website, but I've just looked on now (when tracking my orders) and there's a part where it says:

"By default, the Action button is set to toggle between Ring and Silent modes. If you choose a different action, you can use Control Centre to mute or use Focus filters to automatically set your iPhone to silent"
