Aging eyes. Returned the iPhone 5s, and checked out both iPhone 6 and 6+ and found the 6+ was better on the eyes. Nice big display on the 6+. Waiting for the 6s plus now ;) Don't care about what you think is best, as long its best for me.

Two different form factors for two slightly different use cases.

For me, the 6 Plus is easily the superior phone. In no way does it feel like an afterthought. The unbreakable battery life is huge bonus, but for me the real win is the extra screen real estate. I spend a lot of time in email and on websites, and having all that extra screen is significant. Yes, I had to make some one-handed concessions when moving from my 5S to the 6 Plus, but the benefits of the larger device absolutely more than made up for it.

Despite any of our personal preferences here to claim one is better than the other, both are very good phones and do the same thing in 2 different sizes lol. It's that simple really :p
I don't think it's that simple. The iPhone 6+ could be much more optimized and it has some issues that the smaller iPhone doesn't have.
The iPhone 6 is much smoother than the 6+. I don't know what the reasons are, but the difference is there. As I wrote before, the sound of the iPhone 6 is also better, at least on the devices I tested.
Apart from these things, yes, both iPhones do the same thing, only using different sizes.

I have been using an iPhone 6 since day one and I loved it. Some time last December I thought it would be a good idea to get the iPhone 6 Plus to see how it feels, since I wanted to replace a lot of tablet functionality too.
I used my Plus for four months. Its size was never a problem for me. After a short iPhone break to test the latest HTC One (I do that every year) I decided to go back to the iPhone 6 and get rid of the iPhone 6 Plus. The reasons?
  • The iPhone 6 feels much better in the hand
  • One hand usage is much easier
  • The speakers are louder and of better quality (especially important to me since I am really spoiled by the HTC One M9)
  • Apps run faster and everything is generally smoother
  • It feels right, while the iPhone 6 Plus is more of an afterthought.
  • There hasn't been enough apps for me that really take care of the bigger screen.
Somehow I just think that the iPhone 6 is the better iPhone. Apple could have done so much more with the iPhone 6 Plus that I hope they will do now with the iPhone 6S Plus:
  • Optimize apps for the bigger screen estate
  • support split screen multitasking
  • make the phone faster
  • Give the device more RAM
  • Optimize the whole experience
What are your thoughts? Do you also think that Apple didn't optimize the iPhone 6 Plus?
I am not referring to its size. I don't care as much about it..

The 6+ has a way better loudspeaker than the iPhone 6, it's the main reason I still have my 6+! If you're judging 'sound quality' on how much volume it puts out then you should just say 'the i6 gets louder'. The 6+ has a much warmer and pleasant tone to it.
The 6+ also has a much nicer HD display and the difference really is quite telling when you go back to a non-HD display. As well as the loudspeaker and HD display, the battery life is of course also much superior. Other than those things (and OIS), the i6 is a better phone because the 6+ is underspecced and can't cope with the constant non-native resolution downscaling. Neither phone has sufficient RAM.

As an aside, I constantly read that the HTC One M7/M8 has the best loudspeakers. Well my girlfriend has the M8 and we both agree that the 6+ sounds better. Sure the M8 has stereo speakers, which is better, and they go far louder, which is needed for some, but the 6+ loudspeaker sounds warmer and less-fatiguing. It has a lovely tone to it and the M8 is much more boom-tizz, whereas the 6+ has a rolled off treble which really suits my ears. The iPhone 6 loudspeaker sounds bright and brash just like most regular phone speakers.

Both are flagship devices. Both have sold very well in there respective categories... It's not the same as the 5s and 5c...

However from a little experience blue is better then red, but black is the best color of a...

I have used the M8 and M9 extensively and there is no comparison in the sound department. The BoomSound speakers produce deep sounds, where the iPhone loses a lot od sound details. Absolutely no comparison and that is not only my opinion, it's a fact.
I agree with you though that the 6+ has a nicer screen and great battery life.

The 6 plus is better because

  • Better battery life
  • Higher resolution display
  • OIS
  • More real estate

The "battery life" reasons to me are so over hyped. Each user is different so I can never see how 1 phone is better in battery life. Now if your phone is draining in standby mode then u have a problem or cutting off at 20% vs 0%.

Both my girlfriend and I think that the 6+ sounds better, and she has an M8, so how is your opinion a fact? The 6+ has a much richer & non-brash sound than any phone I have owned previously (lots), and it sounds warmer than the M8. The M8 speakers are physically nowhere near large enough to produce deep bass, and as for detail I did say that the 6+ rolls off the treble but then I prefer a warmer sound. I was amazed at just how good the 6+ loudspeaker is because I was expecting just a run of the mill mobile phone speaker.

I'm not disputing that the HTC One's speakers are highly praised and I mentioned that. For me though, if the 6+ had two speakers then it would be a complete winner. I don't care for loud volume and I don't care for bright/brash or 'detailed' treble. The 6+ even as a mono device sounds fantastic to these ears and despite hating this phone, it is the loudspeaker I will be loathe to give up.

It's not even "better", it's the simplicity that the plus is bigger and this has more room for a bigger battery which accordingly lasts somewhat longer than a smaller batter since it's, well, simply bigger in size.

I am pretty sure there is a scientific test that proves what I am saying.

I've had both iphone 6 and 6 +. I definitely prefer the iphone 6+. The screen is bigger and the battery is excellent. The size doesn't really bother me so since i always use two hands to use phones anyway.

Don't have to worry about it bending since it goes in my purse.

However I do agree that Apple could have done a better job optimizing the 6 + for apps and boosting the ram to 2gb.

The loudspeaker isn't too bad on the iPhone 6 however and on the rare occasion I use it without syncing my phone to my Sony wireless system at home, I am always surprised how good it is considering it's coming out of a phone. I don't doubt the plus is better again and I would expect it considering the size of the phone. I don't agree with your comment about the iPhone 6 sounding bright and brash like most regular mobile phones, that's not the conclusion I reached. I've been in situations where I've been with mates chilling in the sunshine and the sound from the 6 has been less tinny than other phones when we've been selecting different songs. Like many of the discussions on here though I often think I must have the best iPhone 6 on the planet because it's never had any of the issues others have lol.

The battery life is one aspect I see so often on here and it's a major pull for those buying the Plus it seems. For me it wouldn't make any difference at all as I charge my phone every single night regardless. They both make it through a whole day on my usage I would have thought. The camera is the same on both apart from OIS on the Plus but again that is pretty minimal I think. Having sorted through photos from a friends wedding earlier in the year I found both phones handle low light situations very well. Unless you have serious handshake I think you can get pretty good results with both devices. It's very different to handling a heavy DSLR that suffers more without the option IMO.

You can't go wrong with either of these devices and to me there is no clear winner because it all depends on the individual. Some will say the HD screen wins for them and they are right. Some like me will say the smaller device wins because it's easier to use and we are right. There is no right answer here and nobody can state as fact whether one is better than the other because it's totally subjective down to the finest of details. :)

I agree, slightly longer. Which is why I said the battery discussion, to me, is over hyped.

Both phones are great. I went from a 5s to a 6 plus and after a week i exchanged it for a 6 because i found it too cumbersome. I loved the 6 but 5 months later, I started to feel that the screen was still a little small for my liking and so i went back from the 6 to the 6 plus and get on much better with it this time and the transition to a larger size wasn't quite so great.
I love the 6 plus with its astonishing battery life and big screen. If they could just reduce the size of the bezel a little, it would be perfect

I switched from the 6 to 6 Plus and have no regrets, I love the big screen.
Yes its not easy to use one handed, buts its a better two hand device then the 6. Its all about trade offs.

My wife has the 6 and now it feels so small, like going back to 5S.

As I wrote in my original post, I don't find the size to be a problem, I just believe that the device is not really optimized as the standard iPhone 6. It's the software and

How so? You can use it landscape and some apps are optimized when in landscape.
