The thread title, and the news article, are misleading. We don't know how many iPhone 6+'s were available for preorder vs iPhone 6. Without knowing that it is impossible to tell if the 6+ has so far outsold the 6.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't both models still available ? It's just that the most popular size and models are now pushed back delivery wise... So customers can still buy if they want.

Cheaper base models like the 6 always outsell as they are made for the masses. Premium models like the 6+ are in lesses supply due to the $100 increase in price will lower peak demand.

1080p has 2x more pixels than 750p.

426 DPI has 30% more pixels in the same area as 326 DPI.

It's small, but it's not that small.

More pixels means more ACTUAL screen real estate, it's not just about what your eye can see. You are absolutely correct-750p is quite inferior to 1080p. My old Galaxy S3 from 2012 had a 720p screen, and it is way lame compared to the 1080p one on the S5 when held side by side. It just is.

401ppi vs 326ppi (which I think are the actual numbers) will be hard to notice, but you will be able to tell the difference . both will look great, but the 6+ will be sharper...

Both of these factors together = big difference. Anyone telling you otherwise(or calling you slow:rolleyes:, is just trying to feel better about buying a 6.

My biggest issue with the 6+ is it feels compromised. The 1920*1080 screen isn't correct in the iOS world, and needs to be scaled. I'm assuming its successor will be a proper 2208*1242 resolution.

This is so overblown. 400 ppi is enough pixels to do very high quality downscaling (most of which can run efficiently on the GPU), it's not going to be an issue. I bet you even the upscaling from un-updated iOS7 apps will look pretty good. Phil Schiller even made a point of emphasis about the quality of the scaling they are using.

We're in a transition right now, eventually we developers will stop worrying about pixels and trying to make perfect pixel-aligned lines. We'll just provide high-res artwork and it will get crisply scaled to whatever size is needed for the current application. This is that start of that.

Also bad battery life, a craptastic cellular connection, and a shoddy Wi-Fi connection. Nexus phones are good, but after use, it becomes obvious where Google has cut corners to keep the price down.

The iPhone 5 has bad battery life, a craptastic cellular connection and shoddy WiFi connection...
I also expect that the Nexus 6 will address battery life, just as every flagship Android device has done. Sure you can see where they've cut corners, such as the general build quality and the camera, but the Nexus is still a cracking phone and especially so for the money.

The iPhone 6 isn't a 'base' model. It's the main iPhone upgrade. The 6+ is for a smaller market, not a premium market.

Being sold out doesn't make it MOST popular

- The fact that the Plus is back ordered so much, so quickly, tells us nothing about its popularity.

- We don't know how many Apple made. Rumor was leading up that production of the larger phone was delayed. They likely launched with a small number.

- Polls of people on boards like this are interesting, but not useful in the macro. We are all nerds. We skew. The iPhone's appeal is almost impossible to comprehend. The question isn't what people on tech sites want. It's what our Moms, Uncles, teenage cousins... (Snip)... Rabbis, and dog catchers want.

- When you look at the success of the Samsung Note and the like it's not surprising that people would want a device this size. I'm not saying these phones won't be popular, I'm saying you can't guess that they are most popular based solely on wait times.

- One of the things that Apple has been hit on from Wall Street is the average price of the iPhone has been steadily falling for years. It seems like it will sky rocket this year. People buying the bigger phone and people who usually buy the 16 GB popping for 64.

The Nexus 5 does have all those problems. Also a terrible camera

No it doesn't, I have one, I'm definitely qualified to answer that.

This is the best phone I've ever owned and I've had all the iPhone up until the 5, windows phones, earlier android phones (they were crappy) and now on the Nexus 5,will get the Nexus 6 when released.

Definitely doesn't have any of those problems
