iPhone 6 design - yay, or nay?

I like it because its sort of a throwback to the original design with the rounded edges, the first iPhone is still one of my favorites as far as design and feel.

Agree 100%. Whenever I hold my original iPhone it feels perfect. The weight, balance, ergonomics, etc. Can't wait to hold the new 6 and all it's round-ness. Hope it has a similar feel.

*sigh* Another one of those threads...

So, I've seen some threads complaining about the iPhone 6's design... but honestly, I prefer it above the iPhone 5(S) design.

And here are some of my reasons:

- The curved glass looks sleek
- No big bars for reception
- It's not square but rounded

The curved glass looks really sleek and, from what I have seen from the leaks, look like an absolutely stunning detail. Just like the chamfered edges set the iPhone 5's design apart, the curved glass will set the iPhone 6's design apart. While definitely not unique to the iPhone, it's a stunning detail.

While the original leaks with the antenna lines didn't look that fantastic, more recent leaks have shown slightly smaller antenna lines - and they are also coloured to fit with the aluminium. In my opinion, this is much better than the big bars the iPhone 5 design has. Also, since there is no glass at the rear, your iPhone has a bigger chance of surviving the impact.
Note: I get why people might not really love the antenna lines on the iPhone 6, but in my opinion it looks better than those huge iPhone 5 antenna bars.

Third, it's rounded! While the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 definitely look good with its square design, I have always preferred the original iPhone and iPhone 3G(S) - and yes, the iPhone 5C - in terms of comfortability. The rounded edges simply fit the natural curve of your hand so much better.

And on a final note, I get why some people may not like the protruding camera - but I would gladly take it if it means improved camera quality. Also, I don't think it looks that bad. ;)

If this is indeed the real deal, then yes I like it. I like it a lot :D

The way the band is on the back doesn't look bad like that.

Ditto to the OP. I really dig the new look and LOVE the roundedness of it all. It's gonna feel so much more comfy in your hands. Call me crazy I also really like the look of the antenna breaks that everyone else seems to hate.

I still don't think this is the design. It has to be MUCH better then that horrible dated 2008 design.
I mean come on how they gonna come wth that when LG and HTC came with this beauty

If thats the real design apple needs to hire some android designers and give it up.

A physical button in 2014? got to be fake

If I could transplant the guts out of a new iPhone into that I'd love it.

While opinions will vary on looks I don't think you'll see the touch ID button go away until at the very least the iPhone 7. Also other phones like the Galaxy and Note have have a physical home button and they were made in 2014.

The Xoom and then Galaxy Nexus were some of the first devices to not utilize a physical home button and that was back in 2011. So year plays no relevance here.

On that note I prefer on screen buttons, I'm just saying.

I personally love the design. A thin design with rounded edges brings a nice throwback from the original iPhone, whilst maintaining the design premium of 2014.

I can't wait to the phone working in person. :apple:

I like the physical home button, prefer that to androids set up. Esp when in the dark or not looking at you're phone it's ideal.

Yes. I fell in love.

Gonna buy it later this year. Will be my 3rd phone in a year period. :D

There's a good reason Apple uses an outdated mechanical button. They want the phone to appeal to old people that would not understand modern on screen virtual buttons like the Nexus and LG phones use. Apples influence caused Samsung to use physical buttons also cause seniors love that simplicity.

Without the senior market Apples sales would suffer since more seniors buy iPhones than any other kind even plain dumb phones. Old people want to keep up with their kids, so by having an iPhone it boosts their self esteem.

That, and uts better for many reaons. Dfu/recovery mode, precise anount of presses, and no accedental home button press when in an app. Theres a number of reaons why it still has a home button

A new (1080p) video emerged on YouTube. It's in Russian, but it probably gives us the best idea to this date what the iPhone 6 will look like. :)

Holy crap, that looks SO GOOD! I have been getting white/silver phones previously, but after seeing that black iPhone 6, I know that it is time to switch to black/space gray.

I'm not a fan of the protruding camera lense at all. I think it takes away from the curved look of the device, and in reality they could have made the iPhone 6 slightly thicker to accommodate the lense. The only reason I can think they did this is if the camera has an optical zoom feature on it. I do remember awhile back Apple had a patent for interchangeable lenses for the iPhone, and maybe they attach magnetically using that protruding ring. I'm hoping that's not the case cause that'd be pretty messed up to make the camera like that just for an add on to the iPhone.

Not sure why white antenna bands would be used on the black iPhone. The back also looks fairly light, like it hasn't been anodized yet... hope the final model is a darker gray.

Yeah I still greatly prefer a physical button. My Galaxy S4 sometimes feels unresponsive come time to when I have to use the touch keys or whatever they are actually called on the left and right. A physical button is certain that you made an input, and you can actually feel it, too. I bought the phone figuring those touch keys wouldnt be that bad, but I touch them accidentally quite a lot, just like what I was afraid of. Also the lights randomly like to shut off until I restart my phone, I prefer them to be on all the time. By default they go off after you don't touch the screen for a couple seconds, but it seemed that caused a lot of flashing lights in the bottom of the phone and it annoyed me.

Blah, anyway, I just like physical buttons only lol.

I change my mind. I'm actually really liking this design now. The only thing that I'm not too fond of is the protruding camera, if it turns out to be in the final design. But I'm sure there are reasons behind it, so it's not that big of a deal.

If the protruding camera has something to do with Image Stabilization, I'm sure no one would mind.
