I personally think it's the best iPhone I've ever had. Everything I liked about my 5s, but with a sleeker design and larger display.

I know that you mentioned that you do not like to use cases but have you tried to use one with the 6? I've used a case on every iPhone with the exception of the 4. The iphone 4/4S was my favorite from an aesthetics/design point of view.

It was interesting to read your opinion on the 6, it's also interesting to read the replies as everyone has a different opinion of what their perfect iPhone would be.

For me give me a 6S with a faster processor, 2GB ram, 1080p screen and no protruding camera then I would be good, assuming no other functionality was lost.

My only complaint with the iPhone 6 is that it's the only iPhone I've had to take to the Genius Bar. They had to replace the screen due to the crescent front facing camera issue. Now I have a lot of complaints with iOS 8, but we're talking iPhones and not software here.

I'll admit, i'm one of the ones who bitter about the size increase - Id have accepted 4.2" because on the debut of iOS7, I'll admit that with the full screen keyboard AND the faster typing suggestions above it, that the 4" screen was starting to struggle. But to be honest, I could live with this now, with Whatsapp web I literally never text from my phone, its not something I enjoy doing so Facebook, Whatsapp and iMessage are all done from the Macbook.

I'd honestly pay £200-£300 more than the cost of the iPhone 6S+ for a 4" phone format with the same specs. I know the real difficulty is making a power house of a phone in a small package. I also know that i'm in a very small minority of people here want the smallest, slimmest phone they can properly tuck into their pockets so it wont fall out and doesn't consume (any) video or media on it.

Sounds like you don't even need a smart phone anymore. What do you use it for other than phone calls and maybe the camera?

Not really, i've written because its 1 year of use - and everyone said "you'll get used to the bigger screen size and never want to go back" well I have - I still feel while I'm holding it I wish I squeeze the thing in a few CM to where it'd fit comfortably. I'll be honest I upgraded it because I buy every flagship iPhone and I thought I would get used to it, but I haven't - however I'm not willing to now downgrade back to a two year old iPhone 5S either, mainly due to Apple Pay and I couldn't bring myself to buy something like the 5C a stripped back so called "budget" phone - thats whats going to annoy me about 4" sizes they'll always be considering second rate now as its basically impossible for Apple to engineer the same power into a smaller frame (or rather not worth their time and effort)

And as for the person who keeps saying my only complaints are slippyness and size, as quite clearly mentioned in the first paragraph, add to that colour, design, antenna lines, protruding camera - so thats only 6 quite prominent things I don't like about and haven't learnt to love in the space of a year.

Its a sad time in my life when i'm going to have to resort to a case to correct Jony Ive's short comings, it really is. I can't stand cases but unless I want this next one to break too, I guess i'll have little choice but to join the swarms of others that cover their phones in cheap silicone.

slippyness and size are valid reasons for complaints. Totally agree with the OP.

While not my favorite design (that goes to the 4/4s), the iPhone 6+ is the best phone Apple has made imo.

Love how this guy says the phone is ugly, but yet he bought it knowing what it looked like.
In the past I referred to the 6/6+ as fugly because of the antenna bands. I still think they are fugly and I hate Space Gray.

But I still purchased a Space Gray 6+ (and got called out on my previous statements). And I still think the bands are fugly. And I still hate Space Gray.

Appearance is a large part of why I buy a particular iPhone, but this time around my desire to squeeze blood from the rock that is Sprint was stronger than my aversion to the design.

My personal list would be iPhone 5 slate, iPhone 6, original iPhone, iPhone 4/4S, iPhone 3G/3GS. Even though it was easily scratched, that slate iPhone 5 is still the coolest looking iPhone ever.

The back of the iPhone 6/6+ are the ugliest iPhones made.

The antenna lines do look horrific. I don't know why as a company they didn't sit around a table and say "hey guys, we seriously can't release it looking like that".

I agree with OP. The 6 is terrible, ugly and maybe I've been unlucky but full of issues.

Almost every one I've owned has had a loose screen issue. The bottom right corner of the screen makes a clicking sound when you press it.

The camera sucks. Has a bad lens flare in pictures at night with light. The clicking is so bad engineers did a capture on my device. Anyways after replacing my screen yet again because my home button got stuck in the phone, now my Touch ID doesn't work. Got an appt at 340 today.

iPhone 2007-0 issues. 2008-0 issues. 2009-0 issues. 2010- antenna. 2011-0 issues. 2012 - chips and scratches. 2013-0 issues. 2014-omg.

I made a similar post in my camera fix thread. The iPhone 6+ was even worse. I can't wait to get rid of it.

Because its still the best phone out there - that doesn't' change the fact its the ugliest thing Jony Ive has been involved with (its still a super model compared to other phones)

(Because buying a case is mentally challenging)

No its not "mentally challenging" as you so politely put it - I stated I don't like cases and i've never had to use one of the first 7 iPhones, so to stop it being hard to hold and falling out of my pocket I have to buy a case which makes it thicker than the iPhone 5 do I? Thats progress...

Despite your dripping in sarcasm reply, I never at any point said anyone had to agree with me and I assumed it would be an unpopular opinion (and yet many have), or that I was right. I'm merely stating an opinion in a detailed way, my thoughts after a year of usage. I just know I don't have the feeling of happiness i've had from every other iPhone - its still the best phone out there, but its losing the magic significantly. I know its the old cliched about Steve not being around, but really he'd have never allowed some of the iPhone 6 stuff through.

I feel like your hate for the iPhone 6 is slightly dramatic, makes me wonder why you bought/kept it if you loathe it so much? You know the 5S is still available?
I totally agree about it being too slippery though, it's the first iPhone I've had to keep in a case the whole time

I hate the 4/4s. I hate the design, I hate the feel, I hate the short, fat, ugly look of it. I hate it worse in bumpers, I hate it supreme in an Otterbox.

It absolutely garners great rage from me to discover that Apple discontinued the iPhone 5 after one year while keeping the 4s around for yet another two or more.

That's ridiculous and over dramatic on my part, but it's how I feel about it.

OP is stating his opinion. It doesn't mean the 6 is crap any more than it means the 4s is crap because I hate the damn thing. Both are still good iPhones - there are just things we don't like about them despite having a specific reason to own them that is entirely separate from the reason we don't like them.

The iPhone 6Plus is indeed the first iPhone I've had that I've broken. It was in a sleek wallet case but was still easy to fumble. I don't think that can be helped much once you get into phones too big to be used one handed.

I honestly thought it was a nice looking phone when I first saw it. One year later, I'm not so fond. I don't think it's ugly either. I think it's just kind of bland. From the front it's rather old and tired, even. It looks like an IPhone 5 rolled under a rolling pin. I am slightly chagrined that imitators have taken the iconic aluminum look and made derivative phones more stylish than my iPhone that I've paid a premium to own. Of course those phones are still crap inside. But it irks me that Apple could have made this generation so much more attractive and still retained that Apple quality.

As for space grey, that appeal wore off fast on me, too. It's a color that really can't make up its mind what color it is. I liked that for awhile. Now I'd like a more definite black shade.

The protruding camera never annoyed me aesthetically. But one year later I notice I'm always having to wipe smudges from it, even though it's in a case. That was never such a problem before.

One year later, the power button position annoys me to no end and I wish it would go back to where it was.

One year later, I am content enough with this design to upgrade to the 6s. But I'm not wowed the way I was when I beheld the 4 and was so happy I skipped upgrading for two years.

The 4 and 4s looks like a shorter iPhone 5 but made of glass. I admit I didn't like the glass part, but it was nice and easy to pocket, which I appreciated. What did you hate, the dimensions? It's the one phone I don't still have so I wonder if I idealized it since I don't still have it around to look at. My husband shattered the back of his.

For me it's one of the iPhone 3's that looked short and fat and squatty. My daughter still has that one. It was plastic.

I waited an entire year to upgrade when Sprint got the iPhone just to avoid getting the 4s.

I don't like the glass, both front and back. I don't like the aluminum band around the phone (although if Apple had made it black I admit it might have attracted me).

Apple had Antennagate (you're holding it wrong) and so a lot of people got a free bumper. Many chose flourescent. It's hideous. And it makes an iPhone I don't care for already even uglier. But people seemed to enjoy them for some strange reason.

Anyway, it's heavy. Compared to my all black (and slate), thin iPhone 5 the 4/4s is chunky. I just don't care for that.

Lastly, at the time I saw a lot of people carrying around iPhone 4/4s's with shattered glass on the back. It seemed to be a thing where I live. I don't get why you'd want to show the world just how clumsy you are with a expensive phone.

It just wasn't for me.

I like this post lots of good points.

The one thing I did like about the iPhone 6 initially is the thinness (pretty much the one thing everyone else moaned about in lure of having a better battery) I did actually for a few weeks look in awe of how thin it was, but now i've submitted to the fact that i'm going to have to put some kind of case on the iPhone 6S i'm going to lose that thinness anyway.

I can't help but think that maybe a bit of Jony I've died inside on this phone - its almost as if he he compromised like he's never allowed himself to do before and by the end just went "well everyone puts a case on my designs anyway, so I might as well design to benefit from one" - that way the ugly back is covered up, the protruding camera isn't as bad and the slippyness is resolved.

Someone, somewhere has suggested that the design team could not solve the protruding camera problem in time to meet production. So redesign was put aside and it was allowed to protrude. I don't know if that's true or not, but I do believe that Ive isn't as wonderful a designer as he's made out to be. He's certainly made quite a few Apple products I don't own because I don't like how they look.

I'm not saying I hate him or that he's a bad designer. I just think, like most things Apple, there are certain qualities or degrees of qualities attached to him/Apple that aren't wholly earned.

To be fair, a lot of finer details, which is what I love Apple for, Steve was responsible for. There is no one at Apple making those kind of demands anymore, even if they were ridiculous - and to be honest "most" customers don't care about them either - as evident by the success of the iPhone 6 anyway.

This whole thing makes my head spin...

I can only assume that one wouldn't want any sort of protective case because they feel the product is inherently beautiful or (and I'm not saying this is true for this particular scenario) they're shallow enough to want to display their goods for all the world to see.

However, assuming neither the former, nor later is currently true anymore, then why not put a damn case on it and call it a day? Especially if it kills multiple birds with one stone?

I know everyone is entitled to their own feelings, but this is some weirdly circular thinking.

Personally, I don't really care what they look like and they've all gone into cases (I'm partial to BodyGloves), so I can't rank them. They are an expensive, fragile tool and should be treated as such. Screen size on the regular 6 is perfect for me, extra real estate is always appreciated for older eyes. Although I will say it's about as big as I can go for comfortable one-handed operation.

I was with you up until this point. "The best phone out there" ??
It's not even the best phone Apple make, never mind the s6 edge or Note 5.

Just because a case will improve it doesn't mean I want one on it either - though I am going to accept that if its going ot keep falling out of my pocket all the time i'll get one for the 6S - one of the reason I don't want one, is as told by a friend whos used a case for the first time ever on an iPhone also for the 6 (the official Apple one) that you no longer get the benefit of the curved glass when swiping in from the sides...and that actually is the best thing about the iPhone 6, so it is is the last reason (apart from still not liking the feeling of a case around a phone at all, any case) that i'm holding back. It's going to be a very sad day to me when i'm holding silicone, plastic or even leather in my hand instead of metal - and for me I can't use the iPhone 6 comfortably with one hand at all, I can barely hold it and I need to double tap the home button on just about every command to bring the screen down so I can access it. Its not a fun experience really.
