There's no lag on the 6S+, clean install nor restored from backup. It's just that you have iOS 6 on your 5. That's the difference. That OS is far more simple and doesn't really tax the resources of these devices like iOS 7-9. No matter the power of these devices they won't be quite as snappy as pre-iOS 7 software. The 6S+ is a monster in terms of performance.

Since my clean install, the only issue I am seeing is stuttering in the animations. I also get jerky scrolling. The new app switcher (which sucks) is always stuttering when loading a new app Like its dropping frames per second or something.

I agree with you wholeheartedly on the app switcher.. I think it's absolutely horrible.

I just don't understand why it's stuttering and dropping frames. You'd think with the 2GB OF RAM It has would stop that stuff

There is ZERO lag or stutter on the app switcher on my 6S+.

Sorry you're replying to the wrong person!!! I said I have NO lag at all on my 6s Plus... NONE!!!

What I said was I don't like the app switcher in iOS 9... Nothing about LAG ... At all!!

Me neither, ny 6S+ is great. However, the iPhone 5 on iOS6 was the smoothest of all time. Nothing like it since and even though the latest S models are fantastic, the software has lost that Rolls Royce feeling.

I agree with this. I love my 6s+, it's my favorite iPhone ever, but my favorite iPhone experience ever was my iPhone 5 on iOS 6. Stupid smooth and buttery. I immediately regretted upgrading it to iOS 7 when I did.

The 6s+ however, is a powerhouse of a phone, and so much more feature rich than any other iPhone. The slight trade offs in iOS 9 are very very worth it.

No lag on my 6s+ but because I'm still in 2 week window I Can still exchange my 6S+ i noticed the battery is dropping in 1% on a frequent basis... Usually will hit 4 hour use time at 100%>45% which seems like iPHone 6s behavior [the 4.7" variant]

dont get me wrong i see the iPhone 6s+ as a huge stepup over alot of other iPhone and android imo but I feel the battery seemed weird after 1st charge it had this rapid drop behavior even on low power mode [which was meant to help me conserve batt better usually]...

This 4 hour use time excludes gaming, it would be even worse if i did a few games alot.

There may be something wrong with your device. The 6 plus use to lag due to the 1gb ram but since upgrading to 6s plus I've experienced no lag whatsoever. Very smooth experience and my friends have said the same.

You can view how much battery each app is using.. It sounds like you may have one misbehaving.

Oh and definitely no lag on my 6S+. It's buttery smooth, easily the quickest device I've used.

Perhaps it is hard to witness the absence of lag I had on the 6 Plus.

The touch ID is quicker.

I find it freezes as much as the 6 Plus ever did.

The portrait landscape switch is as bad. Not sure if that is to do with the sensor or the software.

All in all it was what the 6 Plus should have been.

Live photos and 3D touch are nothing but gimmicks for me. Samsung features.

The battery has hardly been tested but it seems to be worse but not by much.

Thanks for the quicktip, I'ma try remove facebook app [and if i need it try log in thru Chrome/safari] and see how that goes for 1-2 days of moderate/heavy use. Realized not using facebook as addictively as I used to be before [we all had our moments].[/QUOTE]

My 6S+ never freezes and portrait/landscape rotation is fine. My 6+ was an absolute dog for all of that.

Seconded.

If these things are consistently lagging for you, your device has a problem. No lag here and the orientation switch is buttery smooth.

First off, I am not new to iOS. I have used it since iOS 4.0. I recently purchased a space grey 128GB iPhone 6+, previously coming from an iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1.4 installed. The experience the 6S+ gives is truly quite awful. I compared both phones side by side and my god, the 5 running iOS 6 was so much more fluid and responsive, compared to my $900+ toy I just got. Better yet, my wife who got the 6S (4.7" phone) has zero issues. I played with hers and the 6S runs circles around the 6S+. It feels so much more fluid and smooth, especially when scrolling.

I did a clean install of iOS 9.0.2 and afterwards is when I had issues, like, very jerky animations, tapping on an app and waiting a few seconds, or the tap not registering, the phone completely freezing, stuttering when scrolling, and horrible performance with the new app switcher. It ALWAYS lags and stutters, unless I turn off transparency. Really? yep.

So how is it Apple could put out a phone that performs this bad. Nothing has improved with yet ANOTHER clean install of iOS 9.1

Sounds like your phone is defective. My first one was like that too... Did everything to try and fix it. But it was a hardware issue. If you have geekbench you can confirm this; the single and multi core scores will be MUCH lower than normal.

I exchanged it with a new one and it's perfectly smooth and fast.

Take it back.

No lag or stuttering issues on my 6S+ (Samsung). 3D Touch and the app switcher are perfect. I do occasionally get the slightest stutter when scrolling on Tapatalk, but I think that's just the app, and it's hardly noticeable.

If you think the 6S+ is laggy, you'd faint if you see the 6+. The 6+ is easily the laggiest iPhone I have ever owned. Apple should be ashamed of themselves for even shipping that POS

Yea the 6S+ apparently drops frames compared to the 6S

Who cares about that, seriously. It's stutter and freezing that should be worrying you. Until/unless Apple specs the Plus model higher than the 4.7" version there will always be performance differences between the two models. They use the same processor, GPU & RAM and yet the Plus model has to downscale a super-high resolution image to HD & on a larger screen to boot. So long as the Plus model doesn't perform badly (like the 6+ did) then it's ok, but if you're going to be comparing UI animation frame rates between the two models then you'll only be happy with the non-Plus phone.

The A9 should have no problems running the +'s resolution without any animation lag, its just subpar coding/optimisation.

The 6+ and the 6S+ both perform worse than their smaller counterparts, although in the case of the 6S+ that 'worse' performance is negligible to most people. How can it be bad coding? One phone simply has more work to do and unless power is unlimited then it's going to show up here & there. It's a case that the smaller phone appears to be the design blueprint and the larger phone makes do with it. Only if things were the other way around would there be zero performance differences between the two models.
