I use the stock alarm setup with the Harp ringtone.

I use greetings_100, which is ringtone I got off my old Sony Ericcson. It's really loud and totally annoying, but it does the job....wake me up. I don't know how you guys wake up to this light music. One of my beefs with the iPhone is getting it too snooze. Since you're in a fog, it's kind of difficult to remember to select the snooze in time, and usually I just slide it off. I wished you could just touch anything to get snooze, which is how my SE worked.

There is a new app out just today called playlist alarm clock that looks pretty good. You can create a playlist for wake and one for sleep and have them fade in or out depending on the situation.haven't used it yet but I like the way it is set up.

the only problem with these apps is they need to be running ALL night!

What if you put your phone into airplane mode? That could stop the calls and you can leave your fav. App on?

On my Macs, I've been using Awaken by Embraceware to wake up every morning. Set your playlist, set the time and have the music fade in. Simple as.

If only it were that simple on the iPhone.

I tried to use the built-in clock app, but there's no fading options and you can't use your own music either. (unless you use ringtones, but those are 30 seconds max, right?)

Then I tried AlarmTunes, P.A.C., Absalt Alarm Clock Pro, etc etc ... But the problem with these is: if you put your phone to sleep, the app isn't going to wake it up.

The third-party alarm apps are only viable options if you decide to charge your phone overnight. I only use my iPhone as an alarm clock when I'm not at home (because when home, I use my Mac) and I'm not taking my charging cable everywhere I go with me, so this is not an option for me.

Any options I'm overseeing here?
And what are your experience with using the iPhone as an alarm clock?

Is there maybe a work-around to using longer-than-30-sec 'ringtones' to use the built-in clock app ... then my problems would be solved (albeit somewhat unstylish)

AlarmTunes is what I use. It does, in fact, wake up the iPhone when the alarm goes off. Even if it isn't plugged in. I use it every night.

I use my TV and phone to wake me up. I set three alarms and sleep with it in the pillow protector so the vibration wakes me up (I've slept through a fire alarm at my dorm once). The second alarm is 3 minutes after the first and the third is 7 minutes after the second. Each one has a different ring and I wake up every time.
