You can set other browsers as default with a jailbreak app.

This is true. I would still argue that it's not too big of an issue even on a non-jailbroken phone, because you can install the bookmarket. All it takes is an extra click (open bookmarks) or two (click Atomic Browser bookmarklet), which I definitely appreciate is too much work for some people.

You have the choice not to use an iPhone! It seems that you want to use one because your COOOOOOOOL but you can't accept that not everything is like you (and not everyone else) want it. I for example like Safari over EVERY other browser although I do not need the browser that often.

Your a jerk, and you now are a member of the infamous club of my ignore list. Carry on whining.

How about a non-jailbroken phone where my preferred browser is the default and we use bookmarklets to open Safari? Now, wouldn't that be more fair?

How about a non iPhone that does exactly what you want. Wouldn't that be desirable?

I'm sure you heard life ain't fair, and at times, neither is Apple.

What does ULE (User Level Event) mean? How does it relate to Safari and other web browsers?

Why is Safari so bad? Why is Apple not trying to keep their web browsers up-to-date? On my 2007 macbook, Safari will no longer play Youtube videos. The Youtube page will fully display but the video is black with action menu (play, pause, etc.). ...snip

Is the issue with you mention above true for all 2007 macbooks?

That is a Flash/Youtube issue...Do a search, this forum contains many posts/threads on the subject. You can change Safari to 32 bit mode for a fix, until they get it resolved.

It's a shame that there has to be a work around to browse properly on iPhone.

Mobile Safari has been virtually unchanged since 2007.

In order to compete, for starters, Mobile safari needs upgrades like, full screen mode, user agent and text reformatting.

WTF is Apple waiting for?

I agree with the OP, browsing on iPhone sucks!!!

Get Skyfire, it even has Adobe Flash support.

It does not, it converts flash video content into HTML format. Don't give out erroneous information

BTW Skifire sucks because it takes forever for HTML video conversion and it has a horrible UI with no full screen mode like on other platforms.

I love web browsing on my iPhone.

To the OP & JD914, through your many posts pointing out everything that you hate about the iPhone it sounds like you would be better off with some other phone. No one device is perfect for everybody, so it's good we have choices. There are a lot of great phones out there, so perhaps it is time to stop dealing with a phone that doesn't meet your needs. I would suggest the Thunderbolt, Inspire, & Atrix just to name a few.

If you are willing to pay the $2000 to break my 3-year contract (Canada), then I will be happy to stop posting on this forum.

Don't let thinned skinned posters like that get to you. They cant stand it when what they perceive as "perfect" get critiqued and proven to be flawed.

Canada? Isn't that a suburb of NY?

Why not give this one a try:

http://bit.ly/merbro

I just downloaded this and my first impression so far is that it runs circles around the stock browser.

It has:
Full screen mode
User agent
Tabbed browsing
Bookmark folders
Great UI
Easy to use

Text reformat would be nice but you cant have it all.

I'm very impressed, thanks for the info.

Yeah, just tried the Mercury browser and it blows Safari way out of the water. Too bad Apple is even more evil than Microsoft and won't even let you set it as the default.

Thumbs up to people that recommended the atomic browser!

Loving it!

PS- I didnt have anything against Safari, just wanted to try something different.
