Spectre camera does 3s for free. If you pay for the full version, you can get over 30 seconds.

The iPhone isn't going to die based on the camera app. Virtually no one cares about shutter speeds and long exposure. I understand them and don't care.

For those that do, get an app.
Shutter speed is important for pros and we might want more than 3s and also how do I adjust the iSO bro ??

Yeah the iPhone is a forever product at this point man. I don't even see a future Apple product being able to cannibalize it like the iPhone did the iPod. It is going on 20 years and it still dominates in several markets (NA, Japan, UK, etc) and it doesn't show any signs of slowing down.

It's important for Pro(fessionals), but it's not import for Pro phones. Every iPhone in my office is a Pro, but almost no one there can even tell me what model of iPhone they have, not the version (15, 16, etc.). They just wanted a big screen and cameras.

Which is exactly what OP said people should do on that other ridiculous thread they started. So it was a solution there but not here.

Whatever it takes to get attention, I guess.
True. In post #26 they imply they are a pro photographer (use of “we”) but although I know pros that do use phones, I don’t know of any that use only a phone.

So in the big 2025 we cannot control the iSO and shutter speed of the iPhone Camera while you can on android??? YOU NEED TO PAY ON THIRD PARTY APPS??? Damn this is sick… So yeah I’m going to take this problem seriously and if Apple doesn’t release an update or an app to control ISO, focus, shutter speed and WB… Well I’m going to make one…

Personally I would prefer that Apple makes one because it could be more native but yeah otherwise I will solve this problem.
Well, here we go again …
If Apple is so disappointing for you, maybe look at Samsung

Damn! This entire thread feels like having been transported to r/<fruit things> or discussions.<fruit>.com which kinda explains why Apple doesn't do jack anymore, because they don't have to. Heck, they don't even have to ever apologise/explain for anything because they have the millions of those -ists to do the fighting :D

The first round of Project Indigo has been pretty solid. I like the more DSLR-like shots I get with it. Some complain of overheating, and there's no way to adjust aperture/no portrait mode, but supposedly Adobe is working on more features.

It's free for now, but my fear is Adobe will slap a subscription on it once it's reasonably fully baked.
I would like to try the app but it is only for iPhone 12 Pro and newer. I can't use it on the iPhone 11 Pro Max even though it is currently running iOS 18.6

The app runs on all Pro and Pro Max iPhones starting from series 12, and on all non-Pro iPhones starting from series 14.

Requires iOS 18.5 or later.

A lot of pros do use a dedicated camera - why don’t you?
Because those are very expensive and you can get similar results in x1 shots… Dedicated cameras can win in the zoom but not everyone needs zoom… it depends on the type of photo that you take…

So yeah am I going to pay an extra 1000$ to have a big heavy camera when I can get a bit better results ? No…

But I bought a drone and an action cam? Why, because those can take pictures or videos that the iPhone can’t !!

Sorry my friend, but I cannot give up my Mac and my iPad !! Those are great and I have nothing to say (well umm bring back slide over and Split View, but Samsung is not doing better)

Well Samsung has it… like come on apple. Even the s25 base… bruh bruh bruh

So if ISO, focus, shutter speed and white balance are so important to you, and you don't want to spend $1000 for a dedicated camera, yet you spend hundreds on a drone and action camera, and yet you are too frugal to spend $50 on an app like Halide, or use Project Indigo for free?
You are making your typical (non)sense...

Oh, and to the title of your thread, of the 1 Billion or so iPhone users, 950+ Million don't care about anything you complain about - so yea, Apple is doomed, There you have it.

Why should I spend 50$ on an app when I can make one my self... I already started the project like a month ago, just waiting the event to see if Apple releases an app or not.

Because $50 is nothing for a feature complete and well functioning app compared to the amount of time and effort you’ll flail around while trying to build something even marginally comparable?

Maybe it was a rhetorical question…

If you want to take professional photos you could, I dunno, buy a camera?
That was a meaningless comment. Already own top Nikons and lenses and a photo backpack to cope with the size/weight. The discussion is about optimizing the iPhone Pro camera I carry in my pocket that costs less than 10% of what the Nikon system cost and does not require a vault for secure storage.

And FYI yes it is possible to make pro grade captures using an iPhone Pro.

Because the 100 hours or so you spend on developing your own app, you could easily use that time to take photos, learn and improve your skills, your time would be better spend on that as well as spending less time on social media...

Bro it's ok, people will like my app (since no one offers this free) and in the future I could add a pro version idk and get some money or just leave it 100% free and people will like me ? + It's not that complicated to do... I'm gonna do something similar to Final Cut camera but for the photos !!

No it wasn’t meaningless. The camera in your pocket is a phone not a professional grade camera, how many users want to be able to control the exposure, ISO etc?

Don’t bother replying because I’m sure you’ll just continue to try to be patronising.

100h? Lol it can takes me a few but not 100h for this an app similar to Final Cut camera lmao

The iPhone isn't going to die. That is BS. The problem is, though, it will not change much more. However, it does make you ponder about how much more major innovation can really happen because they are already pretty advanced devices. We have really only gotten incremental changes the last several years, so are we at that point?

"Lack of innovation" is really a dumb statement; the wheel is round and you cannot innovate much more with it. I guess you COULD call them "Space Black" one year, and "Super Un-White" the next. Then, look at the "Double-Tap" feature on AWU2 that doesn't work on AWU1; it has been in Accessibilty settings and I recently discovered this so it is now on my AWU1...the watch that "doesn't support" Double-Tap. WTF?! How is that a "new" feature?

I think what WILL happen is that increasing prices and the walled garden will drive away users to other platforms; I think it already has and that movement will grow. It is certainly on my mind and I am looking into options. Also on my mind is the constant legal issues and bullying by Apple, but I guess when you are dining with the Litigant-in-Charge who leads by example you can get away with it. I am sick of the false ethics bragging coming out of CuperTimo. Maybe if they do the right thing to begin with they wouldn't be wasting money paying for lawyers and having customers subsidize their legal bullying.

With regards to the walled garden, why does it matter to ANYONE what I put on MY phone? This really pisses me off. I am the one who bought the damn thing. If I have the ability to put any app on it and it is a security/operational issue then that is MY problem to deal with; it doesn't affect anyone else's devices. But, I guess that only matters if it is a Chinese app...unless it is TikTok.

I don't want to hear "well go to Android, traitor!". That is more BS along with telling someone to use Gmail or WhatsCrap or any other app with lack-of-privacy issues (which, BTW, are on the App Store...). I honestly think all devices and apps should be interoperable for at least basic functions. It sucks that I am stuck with Apple because of a few things like Messages but I am looking at alternatives. FFS...my hearing aids will not even auto-switch when going from one device to another. If I take those out and put in my AirPods it magically works. But then I cannot hear.

The prices WILL continue to go up even if they automate every step of the process and make more and more profit (and they still won't repatriate manufacturing and their tax burden). That is why I think we need interoperability - I want the option for using another phone by any manufacturer I choose, to do with what I want to do, run any apps I want, and save some money.
You can use your AirPods Pro as hearing aids since last year. More information here

The argument that if you don't want a walled garden you should get an android is true though, no matter how "********" you find it. The market is organized that there's a closed system and a system that likes to pretend it's open. Choosing the closed system and then complaining that it should be open seems like a bigger amount of BS than others then pointing you to the other one...

I'm sorry, if you are going to pretend that you're pro, and at the same time don't want to pay for an app that does what you ask for, how are we to take you seriously? Pro's pay for good equipment because it's what they make their living from. Pro photographers pay thousands of dollars for lenses and a camera body, and you can't pay a couple of dollars for an app and claim the iPhone will die if apple doesn't provide it because pro's need it?
Come on...

We agree on most of this I think; we may just be lost in the semantics. Sorry but as long as you suggest iPhone Pros are not capable of "professional grade" captures, I will not stop replying that you are wrong. Obviously, a smart phone camera is not capable of all the same things that a full-size camera system is; but the smart phone camera fits in your pocket.

Just go look at Apple's "shot on iPhone" marketing if you doubt that iPhone Pros are capable of "professional grade" captures. Note also that pro image usages have changed. What 30 years ago was 95%+ hard copy print is now less than 20% [I am guessing at the percentages] hardcopy print. Any professional photographer knows that usage is overwhelmingly relevant.
