New price at www.dv247.com £422 delivered... I just re-ordered at the new price! :)

Thanks for the tip - I was in touch with Music Matter today asking about ETA, mentioned the price at Digital Village and they're gonna price match and refund me the difference!

They also said to stand by for dispatch email as they're expecting them imminently, so hopefully the mid-end of May suggestions may be overestimated...

I've talked to Apogee twice and Sweetwater twice. On all four occasions they stated that Retailers would be getting the Duet 2 around the 3rd or 4th week of May. Most online retailers have changed their date of availability recently as well. If it ships early that would be fantastic, but I don't think it will. I am going to call my rep at Sweetwater tomorrow and see if they have an update.

I pre-ordered mine the week they announced them. A few days after they went up for pre-order on Sweetwater. I'm excited. The first Duet was more than amazing in my book. I'm excited to see that they have reduced latency and added such great features.

Yeah I pre-ordered mine the same week! Pretty excited. The only problem I had was I only had a small window of time to return my original Duet, so I've been without an interface for a few weeks now and it's KILLING me!

Just got off the phone with my rep from Sweetwater. He gave me some bad news...

He told me that they were expecting them the first week of May, but Apogee has now told them that they wont get them until the end of May. He also said that they are all made (manufactured), but they delay is more of a logistics/distribution thing. All retailers should be getting them on or around the same day (within 24 hour period, give or take a little). So if anything changes it will change for everyone not just those that pre-ordered through Sweetwater.

The wait is longer than I'd like it to be, especially since I sold my original Duet days before I pre-ordered the Duet 2, but I'm excited and hope the wait is worth it.

Can't wait for mine too, but I can't complain... I have a duet to use until it arrives!:p

Apogee is killing me right now...

...waiting for the Duet 2, Jam, and Mic to be available.

Also am close to finally pulling the trigger on an Ensemble or Symphony I/O but wanting ThunderBolt!

I talked with Apogee via their online chat on May 2 (I preordered from Musician's Friend, who had that as a shipment day), and they told me JUNE. They said that the Duet 2's are shipping, but that demand was higher than expected and that they are unable to fulfill all orders at the same time. So basically, it's coming, but they're not sure when. :/

(I also got a backorder notification from Musician's Friend, which, after some searching, it sounds like is not too uncommon - but I wrote to them asking exactly how a pre-ordered item could be on backorder? They didn't have a good answer.)

Yeah as far as I know nobody has gotten any shipments of the Duet 2 yet, so I have no idea what is going on. The backorder notification might just be the fact that the pre-order has passed the estimated release date. This is why other stores don't even bother posting their ETA.

Either way the delays are really sad :(

Yeah, I did the 'live chat' thing with someone on the Apogee website yesterday - she too said that a limited number were being shipped with a view to being widely shipped by June. I asked if this 'limited number' were limited to the US or if they were also shipping to UK, she said she didn't know.

AARRRGGGHHHHH!!!

Had mine on pre-order from a UK retailer aswell, I noticed the dv247 price is back up to 444, also they had the Duet 2 breakout box for £25 for around 2 weeks, I meant to order then I checked again and it was £59.00
It's like the GiO all over again, Apogee said back in 2009 it was shipping in August then Sept yada yada yada I got mine in December after preordering way in advance.
I've sold my Duet, using ONE until Duet 2 arrives.
Should be great, I loved firewire but I guess FW is o it's way out.
No latency probs with ONE infact it's been more consistent than Duet, guess USB got better over the years.
Thunderport on a duet doesn't make alot of sense but would have looked nicer, ashame apogee is using that ugly old USB printer connecting style port couldn't they have used the mini-usb on the duet 2, oh well.
As long as there is no plastic on duet2 like ONE I'm happy.

I pre-ordered mine from MF and it's not shipped yet. I will do an unboxing video as soon as I get it. Stay tuned!

I need to wait for it to be released so I can test it against the Sound Devices USBPre 2.
Looks great though- just need to make sure the breakout box works as expected.

update on backorder from Guitar Center

just got off the phone with guitar center and they now said shipments to their distribution warehouse won't be arriving till June 15th (previously they said May 15). The manufacture (apogee) has the right to change delivery times... So now it's looking like the 3rd week of June which is ridiculous.

I haven't had a sufficient interface for my studio since the first week of april. The RME Babyface is looking like it would have been a better decision
:(

BAH! I was checking in here to see if you had any good news!

This really is absolutely ridiculous. It sounds like you're in the same position as me - I pre-ordered the Duet 2 at the end of March (!), had to sell my original Duet to help fund it, and have been without an interface since... I was originally told I'd have it by the end of April, then mid May, then end of May, and now from what you're saying mid-end June?!?!

There is simply no way I can wait that much longer to get up and running again...

Aaahhh what to do, what to do

UPDATE - I've just emailed Apogee and asked if there's any way I can jump on board the Duet 2 upgrade service even though I'm in the U.K. - if they say yes then I'll just re-buy the original Duet for the time being... Ultimately though, they really shouldn't have announced it/allowed pre-orders to happen so early on if they had any idea it was going to take this length of time to actually hit the market...

yeah it seems that the 3rd week of june is now the date

Like i stated before....i bought the Apogee Duet a month before the duet 2 was announced so i returned it, pre-ordered the duet 2 along with paying the difference in price.

The timing could have been worse for me though, like if i purchased the original duet 2-3 weeks prior b/c then it would have not been able to return it.

oh well....i'm just gonna wait it out i guess. Hopefully there isn't any major bugs associated with it when it is finally released

It has been frustrating. I'm trying hard not to get angry over the wait. I was the one that sold my duet before I had the Duet 2 in hand, so my frustration is half my fault. Apogee however is responsible for the rest of it though.

It seems that this is an ongoing trend with most companies now a days. Announce a product. Lie about it's release date to everyone. Change the release date multiple times, while keeping the original info about the release on your website. Lie and say there are a limited amount of units in the wild so it looks like you met your release date and yet, no one can find any evidence of any units in the wild (no reviews, no unboxings, nothing). Hype your product up with making it seem like so many people pre-ordered that you couldn't get them all out. Tell your venders to say that all the units are made, but there is a problem with getting them to all the customers who made pre-orders (this is actually what two separate online retailers told me a week or two ago, they said that this is what they were told by Apogee) All this so everyone wants one because supposedly all the important people got one already, but there is no evidence of this anywhere. Hmm....sad. I hate the way companies market their products so deceitfully.

They either ran into an issue in manufacturing or realized they couldn't meet their publicly announced target release date (perhaps both). Don't get me wrong I love Apogee's products, but I'm just in the mood to vent right now. I'm sure I'll be really happy when it gets released free of issues because of the extra time they spent with whatever they are actually doing.

Could it be a parts supply problem due to the Japan crisis? I have a new car on order and that has been delayed due to paint supply issues, as the paint is made in Japan.

Just a thought.

Mine is arriving tomorrow.

Just got shipment notification from the UK company I bought mine from and it will be delivered tomorrow, so for the UK anyway safe to say we'll all be receiving our pre-orders before the weekend.
I'm excited.
