Sweetwater has told me that Apogee quoted the 31st of this month as being the day they'll get their first batch from Apogee. They have a big list of people who made pre-orders and there will be a lot of people that wont get one in the initial batch. It looks like other retailers in the US will be getting theirs on that day too, at least that's Guitar Center has quoted that date as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if the date changes again though. This is the first date I've been given from Sweetwater. They were very hesitant to give me the date, but before it was only a date range, which had fluctuated a number of times.

I still can't believe it, plastic!!!
It's basically like the apogee one with Silver paint all around :/

Oh, plastic is bad news. My Apogee ONE is covered in scratches just from sitting on my desk.

Honestly, I really wouldn't hang on this plastic/bad build quality thing - to me it looks and feels solid and durable, and I don't see any issues with it. It has a good weight to it and the materials don't feel cheap...
I think the OLED screen is inevitably going to pick up hairline scratches along the way, just as any touchable device would. I do agree with kokako to consider leaving the film on the screen if you want it to remain flawless for as long as possible... I haven't noticed any dust in the screen and to be honest I can't see how that would happen?
At the end of the day it is a BEAUTIFUL device, and more importantly it is an AMAZING device. Enjoy it.

I'd still love to have one even if it scratches. My ONE is great despite it's scarred face ;)

Off course, i still Want it, been waiting for 2 months...
But i hate plastic so much...and i hate leaving the film on it too...
The design was too good to be true...

just cancelled my pre order and picked up the duet 2 in new jersey :D

great way to start the weekend. pictures and commentary to follow

Who would have guessed that Apogee has pushed back the shipping date for the Duet two again. At least that's what Sweetwater.com has said yet again. I've been told sometime next week, with no set date. It's strange that such a big reseller of Apogee's products would be so low on the supply chain.

Since apogee has discontinued the Original Duet they must be struggling to keep up with demand. It appears that it has been a semi-international release for the Duet 2, so perhaps it really is an issue with demand and supply. I just wish there was more evidence of people getting them in the wild. Sweetwater had taken just under 300 pre-orders. And none have been filled at all yet, but Amazon.com has them in stock (http://www.amazon.com/Apogee-Duet-P...A6/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1306957554&sr=8-11). Frustrating!! I don't feel confident in purchasing from RECORDING STORE even though they seem to be a reputable reseller, but they are giving a list price of the Duet 2 as $1030.89, which is kinda weird. They say You Save: $435.89 (42%) on your purchase

USA DUET 2 Delayed until August......Just Kidding

That's a bummer that some you guys in the USA still haven't received yours, hopefully you get them soon, guess it's another runaway success for apogee.

I wouldn't mind Mic (that USB microphone they've created for iPad) if the mics like ONEs that'll be a handy little notepad paired with iPad.

Anyway must go now and play with DUET2...sorry.

A plastic top on the new Duet 2? Dust under the screen? grrrrr. For anybody that already has the unit, please tell me this is a joke. This is exasperating news if it is true. kokako, hopefully you received a beta version of the Duet 2. Just kidding.

There are a few brief Youtube video's out there. I'm trying to hunt down some reviews for this bit of kit, but it's about as rare as trying to find a Javan Rhinoceros.

All Right!! Mine Shipped today! It's been a long wait, way too long. Anyone else get there's? It looks like Apogee is picking up the ball on shipments to resellers. Most local places, where I live, have them on order with tracking numbers. So hopefully more people in the United States will be getting their Duet 2 in the coming week.

I've been keeping up with the posts on that thread almost everyday. Most of the negativity comes from people that are disappointed that the Duet 2 doesn't sound like the Duet Classic. Why would it ever? It makes sense that it wouldn't, it's a completely new product internally and externally. I do realize most people are saying that when compared to one or two audio samples that have been provided, but that's all it really is: one or two samples. I do however really like all the input people are giving, be it negative or positive.

If mine sounds bad I'll just return it and look into something else. I hope I like how it sounds though. Admittedly there has been a good bit of negativity from a few users that already have theirs, which has made me question my purchase a little. When all is said and done it really depends on the individual and their own ears and gear they use with it. But now that I have something to base my decision on it will help me a lot.

I'm also extremely interested in how things will pan out in some of the reviews (hopefully unbiased) it will be getting.

hi, a gentleman explained the possible reason for the difference in post #816, 820, & 821. If this is the case then i can totally understand that

I'm also interested in how the reviews will be done. I have a hard time believing that the distributers of this product along with the major publications are unbiased, after all, they are trying to sell a product whether it be the actual duet 2 or their publication. Plus it would be naive to think that apogee doesn't pay for these reviews to be done. Product reviews are pretty much advertising space.

The real unbiased reviews will come from third party websites and blogs that have no behind the scenes intentions to fluff up or slander unjustly the duet 2.

Apogee listened to us about what we wanted changed on DUET....

......We didn't mention Build, we had no reason too.

Forget what I said about build because soundwise it's beautiful, you will not be disappointed, you're going to be coming up with fresh new original compositions and feeling really inspired all over again like when you first bought DUET home to meet the family.

In 2007 I bought one of the first DUET's based on ...looks, there were no reviews at the time - luckily it sounded amazing too, I jumped on forums here and there and raved about it and how truly great it sounded with my Shure SM7B, I started that DUET/SM7B revolution I reckon.

Apogee listened to our DUET problems and addressed them with DUET2, we had no DUET1 "build" problems so they didn't address that, instead some of you using outdated macs complained about latency problems, latency really ? hands up who had latency probs ? time for a mac upgrade man, we never did, so maybe they got to bogged down on latency and didn't think build would matter too much, so I blame you latency folk...just kidding, the build is good still just not as good.

Anyway Apogee are a great company and will listen again when we mention these build woes, so Apogee if you're listening, I love this unit and will swear by it again but I'm not going to "big up" something just because I'm stuck with it so I'm going to be honest and say - plastic doesn't belong on this unit, will it scratch over time, sure it's plastic and plastic scratches and this time around we're looking at the unit more because it has a display so this time we'll notice, glass it should have been.

Dust on the OLED is a problem and hopefully Apogee will address this before the next "batch" are off the conveyerbelt because dust seeps through where the plastic top slots into the aluminium, this needs sealing, talk to the apple ipad team don't talk to ROLAND/EDIROL.

Spray painting this silver to give us a "sheen" look is not a great decision, keep it solid, keep it raw like the DUET, I want a "carved from a solid piece of aluminium" Macbook Pro/duet illusion - why then spray it silver.

Lastly I want a perfect "cut" where the plastic top drops in, a couple of my corners don't match up, I want a precision robot building DUET3 in China next time around maybe in Foxconn.

DUET2 doesn't need any work in the sound department but it needs some fine tuning in build, it's still a top product and if you don't own DUET or they're no longer available or want to keep up with the joneses then buy it.

IPAD AND DUET2 YEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAA

and personally having used this extensively for 2 weeks I think if anything this sounds better, warmer and so close to that Apogee DUET/ENSEMBLE sound that it's hard to tell the difference so much so that I don't even think about it, it's just DUET again with a different face, a dusty beautiful face, scratchy and handmade but she sounds great, she sounds better, when dust takes over her display and she doesn't quite shine as she once did I'll sell her on Ebay and because resale on Apogee gear is so great I won't lose much, I can buy a new one (a new face) every 6 months.....or 4 weeks depending how fussy I am....I'm being stupid here.

DUET became a monster so this has alot to live up to, APOGEE were always on the map but the DUET was their iPod they're a big player now we expect alot from them.......

******** GROUNDBREAKING UPDATE - Wondering why Apogee included a power adapter with bus powered DUET2 ?, because this baby works on iPad/2!!!!! amazing man so far only 48kHz ! but who records past that ? no one !

What app are you using to record with on your iPad, is it a iPad or iPad 2? Perhaps it would work with Garageband? I would love to test this on my iPad as well when I get my Duet 2 on tuesday.

Works on both iPad and iPad 2, tests done with Garageband and it's sweet!

Sorry yeah it does require the ipad camera adapter.

I recommend anyone that's pre-ordered to not go selling your original just yet (especially if you had the last build of D1 (blue serial port, kensington lock) - compare them for awhile if you can.
