Actually at first I felt very unlucky when I saw 4/24-5/8 in my email conf. @ 3:02est. It wasn't until 3:05 when I saw the model I ordered slip to 4-6 weeks that I felt extremely lucky...or extremely prepared. I did all my leg work (shipping addresses, cc info, saved favorites, etc) hours earlier so it was literally a 20 second order process from start to finish on the iPhone app (which I use exclusively).

I guess I thought I was just prepared as best as I could be and quick. But after some of the stuff I've read I guess I was lucky. Two watches ordered in two different orders and both in the first delivery window. And no I did not buy 2 so I can return one. One's for the wife and the others for me.

Same experience. Only I'm the wife in this scenario. :)

I made my own luck, slept in comfortably. I enjoy letting the crowds do their thing all excitedly. Being a spectator has its advantages.

Should the Watch show and perform well, and have a compelling use case I'll consider one. If not I'll just keep enjoying the show :)

Yes, clearly a big part of the luck at issue here is the choice of case and band. Some choices provided several minutes of ordering leeway during which the first delivery period was still available. Others (most notably, anything with the word "Space" in it... as well as, I guess, "Edition") really didn't.

My target all along was the 42mm SS with black sport band. My confirmation e-mail was marked 12:05 PDT; for my Watch choice, that was still early enough to make it into the 4/24 - 5/8 period. It certainly appears that, had I been aiming at one of the Space-colored models, my order wouldn't have been nearly quick enough. I'd say I'm lucky.

"The Lucky Ones" are just the ones that knew to use the Apple Store App from what I have seen.

I went straight to the SS w/ link bracelet at 12:01AM but it already had delayed shipping. I don't think this one ever even had a 4/24 ship date. I ended up buying the Milanese as I already planned on buying it and it had a 4/24 date then ordered the Link separately which arrives one week after my Watch with Milanese.

Thanks to being quick on my feet I was able to get a 04/24 timeframe and get what I wanted. I wanted the stainless steel watch with the link bracelet and planned to get a black sports band separately. When I saw that the link bracelet model was at 4 - 6 weeks as soon as the store came up I quickly ordered the stainless steel with black sports band (I wanted that band anyway), added AppleCare + and submitted my order. I then went and ordered, separately for time efficiency, the link bracelet. Like you, I should have the watch I actually wanted (on the early end) by 04/29/2015. Much quicker than had I actually ordered that model. So I do feel lucky overall.

If you used everything at your disposal you could have purchased any model for the first shipment dates.

Apple Store App + Watch(es) loaded to Favorites + Apple Pay = 0302 EST email.

I guess I was lucky, was really at the mercy of my wifi and if my iDevices felt like loading the Apple Store App.

I'm in Australia and to me it seemed like the servers for the store had to connect in America, on my windows pc, MacBook Air and iPhone constantly refreshing I could only connect via the iPhone through the app after 10 mins the preorder started... I managed to get the second delivery but boy I was a bit stressed thinking the watch would have sold out.

I think most of the "lucky ones" where you guys over in the U.S.!

Anyone on here from Australia?

Ps I ordered the 42mm black sport

I'm from Australia and I am one of the lucky ones :)

I had the Apple store open on my web browser and the App ready to go on my iPhone from a few minutes before 5pm and refreshed both of them constantly until the App managed to load up the order page at 5:03 p.m. I got my order in at 5:04 p.m., and that was just in time for a launch date order for the model I selected. I did have favourites pre-selected and Apple Pay ready to go.

I feel particularly luck because my boss came into my office for a chat at 4:40 p.m. and I thought I'd miss my chance - but we finished by 4:55p.m. :)

Damn!! You are lucky! That would have been one rushed convo with your boss!

I work in the cbd and didn't want to rely on the busy 4g network so I rushed home in time only to find out that I couldn't connect on any device :( I got fibre internet so I thought I was ahead of the game too haha

From what I've been reading I think I was lucky to get in the second shipment

Not so sure about the first part of your statement. To my knowledge, neither of the SS watches with link bracelet had an earlier shipping date than 4-6 weeks.

To answer OP's question though, yeah I do feel lucky. Like many others I prepared ahead of time and favorited the watch I wanted, updated my credit card info and was ready to checkout with Apple Pay. I'm in the US and I tried loading the Apple Store app at 3:01am on the dot and it was still down. I force quit the Apple Store app at 3:02am and opened it again and I was in. Order confirmation at 3:02am and got the earliest delivery window.

I think the key for getting into the app was force quitting it to get it to reload data from the Store servers. I didn't try at all on the website, but what I've seen it came up a few minutes later than the app did.

You make your own luck. Want it on the 24th? You should have set your alarm clock. Same thing with anything else. You want it, you've got to put in the effort.

Setup your credit card, addresses, etc. once it goes live, there's no time for hang-ups.

That may not be a fair statement. There are those who stayed up late or woke up early, only to find that the Apple Store did not show up at the exact time it was scheduled to open. There ARE those who put forth the effort and still did not land in the coveted first delivery window.

Australia here aswell, ordered the Space Black 42mm Link and got a 4-6 week delivery, except its a later date than the U.S

I do realize it's not a fair statement. There are people who work all different shifts and some can't be anywhere near a computer while working.

Chances are, if you're busy with work, you won't miss out on the launch. Eventually, if you wanted one, you will get it. That's the same thing when the iPhone launched. After a while and adoption has matured, you will know if you want one or not. For now, it's early adopters and those who have the disposable cash for it.

I agree taking those actions help, but some people did all of the above and still had problems accessing the system in time to get the earliest shipping range

Every pre-order event I love the ones in these forums who act like the fact that they got their order placed before someone else that they somehow have superior methods of ordering something off of a website than anybody else. Ordering skills, bow staff skills, nunchuck skills. Give me a break.

I stayed up all night and tried to use the website. I realized at 0:03 pass, something was wrong with their site. So I went on the app and everything went smoothly. The website still wasn't up until a few minutes after.

After a while, everyone who wanted one will get a chance to have one. Today, no one really cares that you're day 1 owner of the iPhone and you waited in line. Only you yourself will know and have that memory.

Those who didn't stay up will say they had a good night sleep instead of being up all night. It also depends on which watch you buy. Stainless steel doesn't have April 24 to May 8 delivery date.

Just be happy Apple still let anyone preorder. I'm sure it's all out-of-stock. They just have to make more as I'm typing.

Me too. For me the website came through. I had two watches in my favourites list, and both the app and the website ready to go.

17:01. The app comes to life but makes me buy both watches in my favourites list separately. So I go ahead and buy the first one, a few seconds later an error box pops up.

17:02. I refresh the website, it is there, so are my favourites. I add them both to the cart, and check out. Done. My receipt email is from 17:02:53.

When I sat at my desk refreshing the website at 8:01 BST and having the store not show up, I was starting to tell myself I'll be in the second batch. Imagine my surprise when I selected my watch, placed in the address and payment info, and confirmed the order, I got my selection (SS 42mm black classic buckle) in the first delivery window. Then, when felt even more shocked when the confirmation email said the same dates when it was sent at 8:11am.

Perhaps because my first choice wasn't incredibly popular or automatically delayed at the start (compared to link bracelet, SG sports, leather loop, etc)? All I know is that, like many others around the world, its going to be a long week to three weeks until the watch shows up at my work.

First to order got earliest delivery. Not really luck, though guess you were "lucky" that the watch you choose, Apple had stock for delivey on the 24th.
