Pretty much the same scenario as others...

I took the day off from work. I was up at 3am EST when I started to refresh the Apple web store over and over again. By 3:01 I realized the store wasn't going to come up on time, so I switched over to the Apple Store app. I got in immediately, placed my order for a SS with Milanese loop, and got the initial first-wave ship date that everyone else did.

Yeah, I feel lucky considering that the watch dates moved considerably within minutes of placing my order. Had I gone with a sport watch, I think I would not have made the initial cut.

I know that minutes later I placed an order for an additional sport band and that date was pushed back a bit further. However, some reports suggest that bands will ship earlier than initially indicated.

I was on a train to London at the time and had to rely on a poor 3G connection that kept cutting out... I tried accessing the app at 8:00, 8:01 and 8:02 but it was still down... Then I managed to get online at 8:03 and got myself a 42mm space grey sports watch with the 8/24 delivery slot... So I definitely count myself as a lucky one!

I was very lucky too. I was on the underground and had no signal. Didn't get 3G until 08.20. My order went through at 08.24 but I still managed to get myself a 24/4-8/5 delivery date!!!

But only because three quarters of London's population were also on the underground at the time :D

I was up at midnight trying to order with both my iPhone and MacBook at the same time. I was first able to log on to the Apple Store with the iPhone and ordered mine in minutes.

My ship date is April 24-May 8. Did anyone get a hard date of April 24th?

But isn't that in Apple's famous quote?

"Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The lucky ones. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. . ."

Lucky

I ordered mine through the iphone app. Had saved the watch I wanted as a favorite Space Gray Sport with Black band. No problems placing order. Got the April 24th - May 8th date.

Does anyone think we will get them on the 24th?

I only feel lucky that I am still happy with what I chose to pre-order. I was second-guessing the size decision up until the time my alarm went off at 2am CST.

Went with 42mm and luckily the vast majority of posters with my wrist size have reported that they are happy with the larger size. Had that not been the case, I probably would have been scrambling to trade my pre-order or sell it on eBay, or some such nonsense.

As for getting the 4/24-5/8 shipping date, I honestly just chalk that up to being prepared (multiple devices ready, both app and website, not trying to use gift card or financing, address and payment method pre-entered with express checkout).

That's what Angela said in the memo to the retail staff.

I get where you are coming from. You did put in the 'work' to get it on 4/24 and in that sense you aren't lucky, but earned it. However, there were many people that were also up at that time trying to preorder and the website wasn't loading because of all the traffic, by the time it did the shipping times had slipped. Does that make you lucky for getting through or them unlucky for not? I guess that depends on your outlook on life.

My watch isn't shipping until June. I'm okay with that.

I didn't even use Apple Pay (the only difference was I had to enter my iTunes password instead of Touch ID) and I still got 4/24 at :03am. ;)

So for that reason, yes I feel lucky

I feel sorta lucky, partly because the shipping dates slipped extremely fast (especially for the SG). Another reason I feel lucky was because there was a phone number error when I was trying to check out, and I had to fix it which wasted valuable seconds. Despite this, I still got the earliest window.

Also, I fell for the "Get it faster" button lol!

Sorry...what is the"Get it faster" button?

A previous thread discussed this and from what I saw no one received a hard 4/24 date but only the window of 4/24-5/8.

That's what I did. It literally took me 15 seconds to put in the order.

Me too. It was scary fast. I had to double and triple check that it took because it was so fast.

I definitely feel lucky. Space grey sport 42" first shipping window. Order placed by 302. But I prepared. I screwed up my 6+ preorder and had to wait. This was my vindication. This time I favorited all the models I wanted before hand. Logged in and setup my card and express checkout before hand. Got up at 245 am and had my desktop setup with 2 browsers my iphone on att wifi off ipad on tmobile wifi off and refreshed like crazy. Ipad on tmobile got through using the app first. VICTORY

No such thing.

Actually there was.
There was a button / link (cant remember now) displayed at the time of my ordering to saying get it faster, which I considered clicking but didn't. Anyway as others have mentioned, clicking that link didnt do anything and you had to make your selection again.
I assumed and probably like everyone else, there would be an express shipping option, but I am glad I didnt click it and just proceeded through checkout with standard shipping.

Pretty much the same as you

Thank you Apple for having Favorites and Express Checkout

Got email confirmation at 3:02est for a 42mm SS w/ black sport strap

I'm also from Australia. Ordered at 5:03 PM.
Logged on via the Apple Store app.
Also got the 42mm Space Grey Sport. Made the 24/4 - 5/8 dates.

Now just waiting anxiously for the shipping email...

Wow! you fared better than I did (ordered from the U.S.), about 3 minutes after the store was supposed to go live.
Congratulations on your good fortune :D

I was accused of trolling by the Macrumor admins for posting this. All I did was google apple orders and this came up. Did they overreact? Sound off.

Faked, multiple Apple reps I have spoken with have told me no orders for the watch have a guaranteed delivery date.

I keep hearing that those who got the 24/4 release date are 'the lucky ones', however I can't speak for anyone else but I don't feel lucky. I just feel like I woke up early enough and was quick enough to press "order".

Should I be feeling lucky, is there more to it ? How do you guys feel?

Yep, you are lucky. I got up at 2:30 Eastern to be ready. I had my iMac up and ready, with my watch marked as a favorite, and my iPad by my side running the Apple Store App as a backup. At 3:01, the site wouldn't work for me at all, and neither would the app. I felt "lucky" to get my order placed at 3:08, and even so my black SS has a generic ship date of "June," without even a day range. Clearly there never were any available for launch day. A few people did somehow manage to get May dates. They are the lucky ones.

Everything is relative, my friend! :)

Agreed. This was created by a college student with Photoshop and a lot of time on his hands.

Absolutely a fake.

Not sure I would call it trolling, but this is one of those cases where you probably should have known better. You know, like the advertisements with the woman claiming she bought a 42" flat screen TV for $35 dollars on a web site. You don't really have to do any research to know it didn't happen.
