I have a question to those who have owned a macboook air for a while...

Is the Macbook Air as scratch - prone as it is beautiful? Meaning does it really need a hard shell or no? Can I go with a sleeve and a messenger bag or do I need the hard shell. Also what other accessories would you recommend, think are a must have, or are just plain cool! (Keyboard Cover, Hard Drive, trackpad cover, etc...) :D:D:D

It is very sturdy, doesn't need a hardshell at all. One thing though: the screen is plastic, not glass anymore like it was in MB Pro.

You can easily scratch the screen permanently with keyboard if you don't use some sort of screen protector. There are ones made especially for the purpose but even microfiber cloth, like those made for cleaning glasses should do.

First of all, I don't see the point of having a case on the MacBook Air. It defeats the purpose of having an ultra-thin notebook if you're making it thicker!

Secondly, I don't see the point of Jony Ive because he designed the thing and you're covering it with other else's design. Why even hire Jony if you aren't even going to appreciate his work?

I can respect that, the MacBook line up are beautiful (I had to Google Jony Ive  ) but it's also about PROTECTING your purchase.

Especially with Super Phones, I would love to carry/use them without cases because they do look amazing naked. Even screen protectors, I hate but I feel it's necessary it saved me twice.

Just got one of these. Love it!

Then why are you in this thread, since the subject matter clearly doesn't apply to you.

Whilst looking for a sleeve/case for my MBA, I stumbled across a site called Etsy. The site is filled with designers and manufacturers who sell their products.

After exchanging a few emails with a designer, I have just placed an order for this Wool Felt and Leather sleeve.

I love the sleek design and the leather adds a touch of class. I paid £50 all in which includes delivery to UK.

It comes in a choice of colour combinations for the wool and leather. You can also ask her to change it so you can place the MBA in the long side rather than the short side. They do other cases for the MBP and iPhone too.

That I like a lot.

I just got my new MBA 13" and I decided to go with a more stylish and sleek sleeve this time. I used to have a Macbook with a neoprene sleeve. It served me well, but I just got tired of the way it looked and felt.

I ended up purchasing the Knomo Leather Zip Sleeve in black. I'm really digging it so far, it looks fantastic and the materials are great. It offers a nice and snug fit to my MBA and I love the smell of the genuine soft leather.

Here's some pictures of it.

I went with the Sena Folio case for my 11" Air. What I wanted was all around protection as well as convenience. I don't want to have to take my Air in and out of any sleeve, while it's out there's still a chance I might damage it if I bump it into something or slip onto the floor. In a folio it's always in there, well protected 100% of the time regardless if it's closed or when in use. The convenience factor makes it worth it's dime. Yes it's expensive, most I've ever spent on any case, but it's nice insurance to have for the long haul. With this I don't feel I need a messenger bag, I can just throw it into my backpack and I'm good to go for long trips anywhere.

Well, it does say "Bags, Sleeves & Cases". I am looking for a good Bag and a sleeve. But the Cases? Never. If Apple knew their products wouldn't stand normal use, they would have put more protection in it or even ship one with the case.

Cases are pointless except if you're willing to go rugged.

I purchased one similiar but cheaper, i have the same case for my ipad and mba 11"

Im looking for a pretty specific case, most importantly it opens vertically and has a pocket large enough for the power supply. Anyone know something fitting these requirements?
If it has no zippers for the laptop, but the pocket zips or fastens some way it'd be my perfect case. I just can't find it

It seems none of them have pockets large enough to fit our power blocks without cause problems.

Any ideas?????

Well, I got the SevenT7 pack in the mail and it is great I tell you, I really love it.

Mostly keeping my MBA 11" in it with a few accessories, but tonight I discovered I can even keep a 12" Vinyl record in it, plus a pretty fat book - if you happen to be out with your Air for a little shopping...

A very nice backpack... will post some photos of usage soon...
