Question. I guess the draw is random? And not typical of an American tournament ranking bracket system? 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5...

Maybe this is how it's always been, and I'm just not remembering.

Either way, excited to take on my main rivals in the local Houston Texas derby. C'mon you Shrooms!

And here then are the eight – plus the other twelve, all nicely arranged into a little table. :)

As Tilpots indicated, it was he who lost out on this occasion as his Stoplights were pipped to the post by the Fightin' Shrooms and Telford Blues – so congratulations to their respective managers pjlander and Phil A....

...and commiserations to those who didn't make the grade this year.

The draw will be made shortly and we'll find out who the top eight teams will be facing in the Quarter-Finals.

Gah – good job no one noticed that. :p

Just outside. Well played everyone. I bow out gracefully.

Here's the draw for the Quarter-Finals, then...

bru_cores.png

Bayern Bru v Sporting Dual-Cores
A good run of form has seen Bayern Bru qualify for the knock out phase – only to find the Cup holders standing in their way. Will the Bru's sparkling form continue, or will they turn flat and bottle it?

FFM_NoValue.png

FFM v No Value
The League leaders will head into their tie confident of progressing – but is this a banker or will No Value's tactics pay dividends?

Shrooms_Boyz.png

Fightin' Shrooms v Fabulous Boyz
There's more than a place in the Semi-Finals at stake as the Shrooms take on the Boyz in the Houston Derby – local bragging rights are on the line.

Blues_Brainerd.png

Telford Blues v Brainerd FC
The Hoops are looking to make their third consecutive Final – and win their first MacRumors Cup. Will 2012 finally be their year, or will they fall at the first hurdle against the Telford Blues?

That concludes the draw for the MacRumors Cup Quarter-Finals – all ties will be played during Gameweek 36.

Hello! :)

A great week of Cup fixtures, with a couple of closely contest matches...

Bayern Bru 84 - 88 Sporting Dual-Cores
FFM 105 - 86 No Value
Fightin' Shrooms 88 - 102 Fabulous Boyz
Telford Blues 68 - 67 Brainerd FC

The Telford Blues just edged it against Brainerd FC, whilst my own Sporting Dual Cores only got past Bayern Bru thanks to an inspired captain's performance from Papiss Cisse. Unfortunately though the Cup is over for another season for four of our teams, so commiserations to Bayern Bru, No Value, Fightin' Shrooms and Brainerd FC.

That means the Semi-Finals are shaping up something like this...

Boyz.pngCores.png

Fabulous Boyz v Sporting Dual Cores
The Boyz gave their all to defeat local rivals Fightin' Shrooms in the last round – will they have enough left in the tank to get a similar result against the cup holding Cores?

FFM.pngBlues.png

Telford Blues v FFM
League leaders FFM make the journey to Telford for their Semi-Final match – but will the underdogs leave their illustrious opponents singing the Blues?

That concludes the draw for the MacRumors Cup Semi-Finals – all ties will be played during Gameweek 37.

Let's not forget either that there's April's MacRumors Manager of the Month Award still to be handed out. And with 339 points for the month the honour goes to Neutron Heath and their gaffer oscillatewildly.

Neutron-Heath_Home_1112.png

oscillatewildly's boys' form has certainly put their opponents in a spin and – while it's too late to swing the league in their favour – the Heathens are sway ahead of the rest of us so far as April is concerned. Without a doubt they're our top turn.

Well done oscillatewildly. :)

And now we know the identities of our Cup Finalists...

Fabulous Boyz 54 - 63 Sporting Dual-Cores
FFM 60 - 29 Telford Blues

Commiserations to Fabulous Boyz and Telford Blues, who exit the competition at the Semi-Final stage. What this means of course is that this Sunday it will be andrewstephenso's FFM and my own Sporting Dual-Cores who will contest this season's MacRumors Fantasy Cup Final.

Time for me and andrewstephenso to get measured up for our Cup Final suits, methinks. :)

Good luck mate :) the battle will be in the midfield by the looks of it.

I'll be wearing bell bottoms and big collars to Wembley

Still waiting on for the Fantasy Premier League to allocate the bonus points. They'd better get a bloody move on as the helicopter carrying the trophies is running low on fuel.

Mind, it's only really the Cup that there's uncertainty about – it's clear that no matter where the bonus points go that FFM have clinched this season's League title, so congratulations to andrewstephenso on his famous victory. Once we find out where the helicopter is we can award him his hard-earned silverware.

Bonus points are out..

FFM 63 - Sporting Dual Cores 60

Get in! We did the double :D All thanks to my brilliant app :D

My ass was twitching like a rabbits nose!

Congrats FFM on your Double! And your app!

Thanks to Mr Cakes for once again masterminding this whole operation. Well done.

It was fun aging with the rest of you. See you in a few months...

Viva la Stoplights!

Congratulations to FFM and his fantastic season.
Also many thanks to Jaffa for another great fantasy football season, had a blast. Here's to next year everybody!

Hey – what's that sound?

MR_Chopper.jpg

Yay! It's the MacRumors chopper, laden with bonus points and trophies!

First of all, the Cup. As we've heard, once the bonus points were allocated it gave us a final score of FFM 63 - Sporting Dual-Cores 60, which means that it's pale yellow ribbons that festoon the MacRumors Fantasy Cup this season.

Additionally, it's worth mentioning that this is the third season we've staged the Cup and the second time that andrewstephenso has won it, so well done him.

But – prestigious though the Cup is – it's secondary to the MacRumors Fantasy League title itself. And it'll come as no surprise that it's FFM who have done the double.

FMM_Home_Champs.png

andrewstephenso's boys have topped the table for some time now, so his victory is well deserved. Congratulations to him – and thanks and well done as well to everyone who took part in our competitions this season. :)

Here for posterity is the final table...

A few months? I'm sure there'll be a Fantasy Euros making an appearance soon :)
Yep, I'll be looking into a Euro 2012 competition to keep us sharp ahead of the 2012-13 MacRumors season. ;)

It would be really exciting if there were two leagues, and the winners of one were promoted and the losers of the other were demoted! I know this doesn't really make any logistical sense but it would put a bit more oomph into the fantasy football league!

Anyhow, Thankyou very much to Mr Jaffa who organised this all. I really enjoyed this season, and a mid table finish is quite respectable for a relative football newb such as myself. However next year I'm injecting a bit of cash into my Wanderers so we'll bring in some new top flight players and hopefully look for a top four spot!!

As much as I will miss the fantasy league during the next couple of months, I look forward to starting afresh and giving myself a push for the first few games.

Very well done to FFM for clinching the double! But I'll give you a run for your money next season (commence raucous laugher)

I had thought about this actually, if the numbers got much larger (we had 27 teams this time, a record for us). Logistically though it would be a nightmare to organise. One problem is that some teams only appear for a season as their manager posts on MacRumors and then moves on.

I've toyed with the idea of running the Cup myself rather than use the site – I have no control over the fixtures using the site, and at present some teams play each other twice and others only once due to numbers. Maybe draw teams into groups in the early stages and then the top teams would qualify for the knock outs? I don't know, I'll mull over it and see if I can come up with a workable idea that won't drive me mental with paperwork and mental arithmetic. :p

<laughs raucously> :p ;)

Thanks very much Jaffa for organizing the league and cup. Looking forward to next season!
