News is probably one my most used apps - why would you not want to see whats going on in the world? Genuinely curious. I like it that it aggregates lots of good sources together in one app.. otherwise I'd be typing in various websites in Safari - or worse yet, be lazy and only get news from a single source (which is always, always bad)
Because 90% of news is garbage. 'Events' that literally didnt happen, or is grossly and misleadingly misreported so as to be the opposite of the truth, is transient celebrity junk, or it doesn't matter because it was speculation about something that "would" happen that .. didnt, or it did happen but its been and gone with no effect on anything and thus doesnt matter.

Apple One is unmatched anywhere and has a lot to offer some folks, but it's not for me. The only ones I subscribe to are Apple TV+ and iCloud+. Apple TV+ is the only one that doesn't have less expensive alternatives. And it's worth it for the quality of the original programming! But I don't see myself subscribing to Music, Fitness or Arcade plus. Maybe if Apple were to offer a discounted annual subscription. I really don't like monthly payments.
I believe they do offer discounted annual subscription for both Music and Fitness services with like 20% discount.

I don't subscribe to things. Netflix got me for a year and then they started jacking up prices. That was it for me.
BUT: This is how the system works. Bring in enough cows. Make them feel good. Start milking. Gradually increase milking rate.

It is always interesting to me how it seems just about anyone can be an expert on anything. So in a similar vein, I would never subscribe to the paid version of YouTube. The amount of garbage does not make up for the sliver of stuff that is any good.

If I couldn't share my subscription across 6 different family members I'd say it's not worth it. But all of us use iCloud, Music and TV+, and several also use Fitness+ and News+ - so even with the increase I feel we're getting our money's worth.

I'm even enjoying the News+ stuff for some of the magazines - both Esquire and Rolling Stone have had some interviews that I found to be interesting.

Following the recent Apple One price hike, on this week's episode of The MacRumors Show we take a closer look at Apple's subscription bundle and each of the services within it.

Apple One is a bundle of Apple subscription services available at a lower overall price. The "Individual" plan includes iCloud+ (50GB), Apple TV+, Apple Music, and Apple Arcade. The "Family" plan adds 150GB of iCloud storage and the ability to share with up to five people, while the "Premier" plan adds 1.8TB of iCloud storage, Apple Fitness+, and Apple News+. The recent price rises for the bundles are as follows:
  • Individual: $16.95 per month → $19.95 per month
  • Family: $22.95 per month → $25.95 per month
  • Premier: $32.95 per month → $37.95 per month

We discuss our feelings about each of the individual services included in the bundle, looking at our personal experiences, what we like about each of them, and where they could improve. We ultimately weigh up whether Apple One is worth it and ponder what new Apple services could be on the horizon, such as Apple Books+, Apple Podcasts+, and Apple Health+.

Not for me anymore, €20 pcm gives me 2 TB of iCloud and Music which is what I actually use so...

the problem is - through who’se eyes is the news coming, what is their agenda. regardless of your own political persuasion- its hard to get news uncolored by the agenda of the publisher.

its very easy to miss that agenda and be misled.
But that's not an Apple problem that's a journalism problem

At one time I paid for premier but mid year I switched to Android whilst still retaining some devices connected and dropped down to family, then later individual after moving all my data to other cloud providers.

Having just returned to iPhone I’ve decided against increasing my One tier but rather pay now for added storage atop the 50GB to get 200GB.

That said, I would prefer with One to have the ability to swap out a service for another as I don’t want Arcade, those games within I haven’t found worthwhile frankly.

Imagine if Dan cancelled what he didn’t use and invested that money in the S&P 500.

Now it all makes sense. 🤣

As someone who has used Apple devices since the mid 90s, I just don’t find anything on there that’s interesting. I’d much rather go to to each news site that I like and read headlines from there. Perhaps it’s what I’m used to, but it’s what works for me. I’m not a big fan of having news delivered to me. I’d much rather look for it.

The price hike in the Uk made me look at my iTunes bundle and iTunes Match... I cancelled both as just didn't justify the cost for how much I used it. I get free music with my Amazon prime account so just set that up.

I've been debating on to downgrade to just the Family Plan as we don't use Fitness and no longer use News. But we are right at 300GB now. I've seen others say you can go to the family plan then add an additional 200GB (fro $2.99 more for a total of 400GB), but other's have said that doesn't work and you can only add the 2TB (for $9.99) which then puts you right back at the price of Premier.

Apple One Premier $37.95
Apple One Family $25.95 + $2.99 = $28.94.

Might give it a shot here in the next couple of weeks before my month renews at the higher rate. Worst case is I guess I can switch back.

They put it up a little bit too much this time… just enough to grab your attention and make you think about the cost, and whether it’s still worth it.
If they just put it up a dollar or a pound then most people would have forgotten about it five seconds after reading the email.

I ended up stopping the whole lot, music and all. All i’ve got now is iCloud storage

Easy. Because most "news" out there is either blatantly biased or outright false.
That's one of the most illogical things I've ever read on this forum. And I've read quite a few. This is someone who only accepts what he already believes to be "news," and everything else, no matter how many facts there are to prove it, to be "fake news." And there are some fake news outlets out there. But those are the ones that this kind of person cites a "real" news.

My experience - Very happy with the family version of one. Seamless across devices and gets tons of usage. Hope storage cost per TB to drop at some point though.

The worst part is the Apple One individual plan being such a bad deal. Why doesn’t it offer the same services as the Apple One family plan? 50mb is way too little. It should be at least 1 TB. Currently you can’t get a decent value for Apple services unless you are at least a two person household.
