Your points you made is she loves the fame and money. OK who wouldn’t love fame and money and what exactly does that have to do with anything? I mean what are you basing that on anyway? Is this just you’re feeling or did she say that specifically?

The second point you made is she has no real attachment or culpability to the people she influences… How is this different from any other YouTuber? Of course you have some responsibility with your family but we’re talking about YouTube reviewers. Also how do you know how she feels about her viewers? Do you know have some sort of comment she made that was derogatory towards the viewers?

What’s sad is I don’t see this amount of hate directed at René Ritchie and he has the same positivity and could also be considered an Apple shill with his connections to Apple. There’s one big difference though with Rene…. It’s pretty sad to see this going on in 2022
Fame and money is of course very hard to turn down. When I say fame it's more like positive exposure, if she was an introvert I suspect she'd have a different job. Not fame in the Tom Cruise sense.
Oh on the contrary, the sheer biblical level shilling from RR was what made me stop using iMore. The guy was just ridiculous. It's not hate, but I will certainly call him out.
Some YouTubers, do feel a responsibility for what they do. Not everybody I'd suggest has an all about me attitude.
I don't know about you but even if a stranger asks me about a product I use/want/have/know, as much as I might admire the brand I wouldn't take her approach.

If anyone gives a positive review on an Apple product they are automatically called a shill by Apple haters and negative Nancy’s.

Apple haters feel all Apple products are bad so if they’re giving a positive review they must be getting paid to do it.

Negative Nancy’s just don’t like anything positive so if it’s positive they’re going to complain. A channel doesn’t have to focus on the negatives for it not to be a shill.

Some people feel that if they don’t like a product or if the product is not suited for them then it’s impossible for it to have a positive review so obviously the review is a shill. It would be like me saying any positive review on a Chromebook is just a Google shill because clearly Chromebooks are trash.

I’m not saying there aren’t YouTube channels out there shilling brands but that term is just overused by people who disagree with the review. I see it all the time in the PC community. Someone will talk good about an AMD computer and all the sudden they’re an AMD shill. How dare they say something good about that!

I think Max tech realized there’s a huge group of people out there that hate Apple and decided they’re going to capitalize on it. It’s doing well for them so I’d say it’s a smart move. When it comes down to it every YouTube channel is entertainment in the sense of you have to get people to watch or your channel is dead. You can make the best and most accurate reviews but if you can’t find and engage an audience then your channel won’t be successful.

It's often easy to see the eye rollingly sycophantic reviews for what they are. Take the M1 MacBook Air for example. I love it. It's perhaps my favourite laptop of all time. BUT, the webcam is unusably bad, to the point where they might as well not have installed it at all. Any review that doesn't point that out, or is such a fanboy that they excuse it, is simply embarrassing. Similarly, £1000 laptops shouldn't come with 256GB SSD's- that's simply Apple gouging a captive audience. Glaring issues deserve to be hammered, but I fear reviewers are scared to do it, less Apple puts them on their naughty list and stops handing them the gear early, thus impacting their revenue. :(:(

This is nonsense. The Verge mentioned it immediately the same day the other reviews went live. Apple even provided a comment for the article.

What's the next excuse?

Did I say The Verge didn't mention it? All the sane reviews did! The point I was VERY obviously making was that you can spot the sycophantic reviews easily. Why would you possibly think I suggested all reviews are bad like that?

Na, not at all.
There are plenty of people that give positive reviews on Apple products, (myself included).
There are some people that go waaaaaay above that a positivevreview and and actively shill. I'd expect it from people like Phil 'Schiller', from others that want to present themselves as someone independent you can trust, no.

A good channel, will focus on the negatives and the positives. Ritchie almost never did that and neither did/does Justine. (I've looked at RR in a minute so don't know if he's still that way).
Again, they have the same 'kind' of job - they are journos in their field but there's a guy called Chris Harris that that drives/reviews/owns cars.
There are cars that he loves, he's perfectly happy to gush and to tell you he loves them and tell you why he loves them and at the same time will point out some awful shortcomings. THAT, is good journalism.
I've never seen MaxTech, I'll give them a lot some time. Typically if I want a product review. I come here.

Your last sentence though might be one of the most important, and in fact before he joined Top Gear, CH was top of the tree for me. These days he's more about silly entertainment which for me is a shame. I don't see what you can't do a good balance.

Sure Richie and Justine are overly positive but I don't think that means they're an Apple shill. With some here unless it's a review that focuses on the negative it's an Apple shill review

Here's a review by AppleInsider. I think it's all positive so I guess they're getting paid by Apple. My personal review is positive and I'm just a normal user and don't have any kind of YouTube channel or website. I just use the thing. Where the heck is my check from Apple because I sure could use the money. It's just lame to see these people who are so negative that insist everyone is a shill. Even the some of the so called shill reviews pointed out the SSD difference with the 256 GB models. No they didn't go full blown Max tech and made whole videos about it but as the saying goes never go full Max tech... Maybe it was something else but close enough.

Yeah, I've had positive experiences with most of my Apple purchases too. Where's my check? Shill reporting for duty!

Your previous post aimed at me was absolutely ridiculous. I wasn't even sure you quoted the right person because your reply was so bizarre. You're clearly angry at someone else. I'm not sure what they said to you, but there's no need to aim your frustration at me.

My reply saying "This is nonsense," was absolutely ridiculous? There's no anger, here, friend. I'm just calling a spade a spade. Reviewers (and more specifically, the ones being targeted in this post), have specifically mentioned the SSD issue. It's a huge non issue for 99% of consumers, but still, it was mentioned by the reviewers, and I'm betting they'll all still be reviewing Apple products come the next release. It's disingenuous to pretend that the more casual, consumer reviewers aren't mentioning anything that could be perceived as negative. They mentioned the SSD, they mentioned that it gets hot under a sustained workload, and many have also commented on the price, and whether or not a MBP 14 makes sense if you're maxing this thing out spec wise. Otherwise, by all accounts, it looks like a fantastic machine. Everyone here is foaming at the mouth hoping that reviewers are going to trash the MacBook Air... for reasons, and if anyone's angry, it's all of you, since nobody's done that.
