New Hackintosh build

Hi, I'm just starting a new Hackintosh build and I want to install retail Snow Leopard on it. Here's my components, does this look okay?

Asus P5QL Pro
Q6600
4Gb 1066mhz SDRAM
XFX 512mb Radeon 4870
DVDRW (Sata)

I'll have 2x500gb Sata hard drives, one for OSX and the other for Win7. I just need some advice if there's any glaring incompatibility errors please!

Hi,
I really need some help on a hackintosh build, specs as follows:

Asus P5QL-Pro
Q6600
4GB 1066mhz SDRAM
ATI Radeon 4870
500GB Sata HD
DVDRW (Sata)

I've tried numerous guides, but can't get any version of Leopard or Snow Leopard installed. Ideally, I'd love to install Snow Leopard retail but I also have iDeneb 10.5.6 and iAtkos v7 as well as SnowOSX available to me.

Can someone please advise on how I can get any of these installed? Preferably Snow Leopard.

Thanks!!!!

Intel 5100 Wifi Card, Hackintosh Driver/Kext needed

Hello

I am running OS X on a Dell Studio 1537 laptop (don't bother me with your legal chit chat, iv'e heard it all) and have got most of the things I want working on it.
However, I don't have a wireless driver, and I cannot find one online.
I was wondering if one of you could pull something together that i may be able to use for a cash reward.

The specific card type is as follows:

Intel WiFi 5100 AGN

I know that there is a Linux driver available, and thought about trying to port it acorss as I have some experience with Linux programming, however I'm not entirely familiar with OS X so was wondering if I could get some outside help on this one.

Thanks in advance

M61PME-S2P not working with iPC 10.5.6

Looks like I got my new build working. Used iPC 10.5.6. Gotta get lan working, using a USB wifi stick for now. Too bad the LAN on this pc won't even work in Vista. There seems like there is absolutely no driver for it at all.

Dear Aaron,

Please help me. I have the same Motherboard GA-M61PME-S2P. And im trying to get iPC 10.5.6 to work on it.

when i Boot from the iPC DVD the White screen loads with the apple logo but after a few mins i get a small CUT CIRCLE logo on the screen and it just hangs like that with the loading animation still continuing infinitely.]

when i boot the DVD with the '-v' mode. i get the message
"Still waiting for root device"
"Still waiting for root device"
"Still waiting for root device"

and so on. What am i doing wrong ?????? I am really eager to get this working and dont mind even rewarding you through Paypal if i can do it!

anyway here is my Configuration.

AMD 7750+ Kuma (2.7GHZ dual core)
Gigabyte-M61PME-S2P Motherboard
2GB RAM
NVidia-9400GT 1gb Graphics card
250GB SATA HDD
LG DVD writer

could it be a BIOS settings problem or something ???

please help

Thanks in advance

Your only hope is to port the driver or use something else for wifi. Nobody has gotten that card working yet and i dont think intel is going to worry themselves with making an osx driver for the chipset.

Try a different install cd, like iAtkos. The root device error could mean several things, one being that the disc isnt loading the drivers its needs for your sata chipset. I used iPC on many computers and had to use iAtkos on my latest because iPC didnt want to load correctly. iAtkos booted and installed just fine.

Do you think it will be possible to have the Dell Adamo XPS run OSX?

It would look really good on such a beautifull looking pc.

Intel b/g cards are working(iwi2XXX), n cards are still unstable beta(iwi4965, iwi5100). Go look on ebay for an Airport Extreme mini-pcie card and swap it. I got one for 20USD shipped. It's your best bet for wifi

What's the status on the 3945ABG?

happy to see ..

my thread is still alive !! havent been here for a while and kind of surprised it got so big. Anyway I'm writing this on the same mac from the first post of this thread but have made few upgrades like 1.5 and 2T drives, GeForce 9800 GTX+ graphics card, 500w powersupply for the new graphics card.

When the i7 6-cores come out i will upgrade.

After trawling through many pages here over many months, ive come to the conclusion that my hackintosh is now dead, and im looking into building something or buying a descent iMac or Mac Pro, hackintoshing is good, but only if all of your hardware is supported, as ive found out

iStat

I have been wondering if iStat will work on a Hackintosh.
My Snow Leopard Core i7 Hack is a Vanilla install, my 2 Leopard Hacks are not, but they have Intel processors.

iStat Works

iStat works great for me on a Hackintosh running Snow Leopard vanilla (10.6.2) on an intel processor and GIGABYTE GA-EP45T-UD3LR. I even get 2 temperatures from my Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 Yorkfield 2.66GHz and one from my Hard drive.

Has anyone here had the menubar completely freeze up due to iStat? I used to run it, but it seemed to freeze a lot and freeze my date and time in the menubar with it.

What specs were you running: hardware and OS version?
Gigabyte x58- ud5, OCZ Gold 2GBX6 (all work), Seagate ST31000528AS , EVGA 9800 GTX + (512), OS X 10.6.2.
System runs stable, and iStat ran great for a few weeks. I might try running it again.....

EDIT: Oh wait.... Junk..... It didn't KP me, that was something else. What It did was freeze up my menubar....like completely. Id look up and the time would be 2 hours slow.

Since I just got my latest Hack working well, I am going to wait a bit before I try iStat. Waiting for more opinions.

Mine is a Gigabyte EX58-UD3R with a Core i7 920 processor. Probably will work for me.

Insanelymac is the place to get all your questions answered. I would definitely stay away from ati Radeon graphics. They are very difficult to get working.

So I'm a total n00b when it comes to this, (I don't even know if I'm in the right thread:p) but I'd like to build a mini mac pro kinda like this except with raw parts, namely a VIA EPIA Pico ITX board. I'm excited to try something new although I don't know enough about hackintoshing to know that I don't know anything. Anyway, that's why I'm here, I'd rather get flamed by friends than strangers on the osx86 boards.:)

The VIA EPIA P820-12L Pico ITX has specs as follows:
VIA Nano processor 1.2GHz (has x86 architecture)
VIA VX855 chipset
Only one SATA port, I don't know if this is a problem or not

Despite the fact that this board can handle all kinds of things such as 1080p and HD audio  (though not much else with only 1.2GHz on a singe core) it will be used for lame tasks that don't hardly warrant leaving my MBP on all night, such as things I download for days on end, keeping my calendars under control and maybe some brainless network stuff.

So my question is this: will it work? Do I need drivers that probably don't exist for the board? It comes with Linux drivers so I could just install Ubuntu but I'd rather have OS X given its awesomeness.:D

Any help is greatly appreciated.

After searching the OSx86 forums, it seems that your motherboard hasnt been tried to see if it supports OS X, however you could give it a try as it hasnt been tested.

Basically, once you have built your machine, you can then try to install a cracked version of OS X on it.

Many versions are available, from iAtkos to iPC, etc. a quick search of "install OS X on a PC" yields many results.

Even if your motherboard does support OS X, you need to ake sure your wifi, sound and ethernet and besically eveything else can work with it.

Even if your motherboard works, many of the things on it might not. I had this problem when hackintoshing my Dell.

If you reasearch well and choose good components you can build yourself a core i7 mac pro for a fraction of the price that Apple will charge when they finally pull their fingers out.

Hope i was of some help

I'm trying to install OS X 10.6 on my gf's HP Mini 210 and I'm having some troubles.

I have been using this link and several others
http://mymacbookmini.com/guides/hp-mini-1000-2/snow-leopard/

I have created a boot drive using 8gb usb drive and the snow leopard disc and ran netbookbootmaker and then restored the original OSIntall.pkg file.

I plug into the HP mini and hit 49 and I can get it to do the darwin countdown, but when I tell it to use the usb drive it starts like it will go and then i get a message saying;
"You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button until it turns off, then press the Power button again"

I do notice that in the text in the background there is a part that says unsupported cpu.

Any ideas why it hangs at this point and I can't get through to the actual installer?
I have a leopard disc as well but i was really wanting to put SL on since thats what I have on my mbp.

Thanks for any help.. I was hoping after reading the tutorials that this would go smoother (or at least further :p)

What you need to do is, when at the boot loader, type in -X

This will bott you in safe mode, if this doesnt work, try typing -v at the boot loader, this will bott you in (verbose mode?) cant remember the name,

Basically it boots without the pretty pictures and just gets straight to the point.

Hopefully I was of some help
