Not trying to be stupid here, but I really can't see the big deal here:

I buy an album. Ok. A friend of mine asks me to lend the CD to him so he can import it to his iTunes library just for him to listen to it. It's something I bought, and as long as I don't "make illegal copies of the disc" (which is what is written on the CD) I can do basically whatever I want with it. Even eat it.

So, importing to iTunes isn't making a copy of the disc, per se, and if neither my friend or I make any money from it, we are not profiting from someone else's work. So my point is, where is the crime?

You're a terrible person and you should have told your friend to buy his own damn cd. :D
Let's see how long that friendship lasts! Honestly, if a friend told me to go get my own instead of letting me copy his, i would never speak to this person again.

Really, really? I mean think outside of a forum feud real quick. Are you really being serious?

and you wonder why we are saying you are a little kid and have a lot of growing up to do.

No, i was raised not to be a douche bag, share my stuff, and not follow every single rule in the world. It's not a matter of growing up, i will still feel this way when im 40. I think it would be greedy to not let a friend copy a cd, i think most people would agree.

Yes. I wouldn't want a friend like that. It's a sign of greed to me not to share a cd with a friend so he can make a copy for himself. It's wrong, and i wouldn't want to associate with someone like that. That's the same kind of person who would report you to the IRS for not claiming the money you made at your garage sale on your tax forms.

Again, i've never encountered people like the ones on this forum in real life.

Statements like that, in fact, show that you probably do need to grow up. Everybody in their late teens/early twenties says they'll feel the same way when they're 40. Trust me, that isn't always the case. I've yet to hit 30, but my attitudes and feelings about many things have changed in the last 10 years.

Wait until you get out into the real world. You'll find that not everyone shares your thoughts/beliefs. You're living in a bubble right now, and I suspect you'll be unpleasantly surprised when that bubble bursts.

Ok, i need to grow up because i still won't want to associate with greedy people who sit on a moral high horse and have a stick up their ass when i'm 40. Gotcha.

And what bubble would that be? I'm not in high school. I work and go to college. If that's not the real world then idk what is. And i still maintain i've never met anyone like this in real life.

Yes...that's exactly what I said. I'm willing to bet your reading comprehension will be better in 20 years as well.

Sorry, but that's just how i am, and i doubt i'll ever change. I was raised in the the real world where not everyone follows all the rules. Hell, back in the 90's my parents used to have a "hot box" to get free pay-per-view channels and i had all the good channels in my room when i was a kid. If anyone is living in a bubble, it seems to be you.

This coming from the kid who says all strippers are skeezy, drug addicted meth heads...yet hasn't ever actually been in a strip club. You seem to have very set views of the world....and not all of those views are set in reality.

But, yes...I'm living in a bubble.

So I see your parents are thieves. They were stealing a services.

And yes you will change. You are still a baby and living in your little bubble. Get back to us in 5 years after you had some time to be in the real world.

You still live a very sheltered life. You have yet to be on your own at all.

Again, call it what you want. Not everyone is perfect and people do things like that if they know how to.

Ah yes, when i live on my own and have even less disposable income than i already do, then i'll stop pirating.

Yeah i really don't see how my dislike of strip clubs is relevant here. I do have set views of the world, maybe some of those will change. But i'm also a productive person with goals who does live in the real world. Yeah, i like to pirate movies, music, and software. Big whoop. Maybe it's wrong, but we're just going in circles here. I don't care, i'll continue doing it, and it has nothing to do with age. Pirates come in all ages.

nobody feels the same when they are 40 ... you will be suprised how much you grow up by the age of 40 :apple:

I know many of my views will change in that time, but i will never be one of those people who follows every rule in the world. It's just not who i am.

I do not think he under stand how much he will grow in just a few show years living on his own.

The way he keeps battling how it is ok and saying he is all grown up instead he is just proving more and more how little he is.
His parents are thieves and clearly raising another one.
Anyone who does not think like him has a stick up their respective rear. Yeah REAL MATURE.

you never know what life brings you ... some people go through life changing moments where many things change.

You say "its not who I am" ... only time will tell "who you are" when you turn 40+

You call me immature yet you're the one judging someone you don't even know on the interwebs and calling him a little kid. Funny part is, that's the last thing anyone who actually knows me would say about me, so this is just entertaining for me to read and i don't take it personally. It's just blind criticism to me. As for my parents being thieves, far from it. Back to my IRS example, you can call anyone who fudges their income tax forms a litte bit a thief, but chances are you're wrong. You're taking a few things that a person does and using them to label someone a thief, which is very immature of you. But that's ok, you'll grow up, i'm sure you won't feel the same when you're 40. ;)

I mean seriously? Come on. Seriously? :p

Friends are suppose to help and support each other.

Why would I still speak with a person who won't help me. If this is a first impression, I most certainly would hold a grudge against the person and would ignore the person. I care about my friends and I try to help them if I can, I absolutely, absolutely dislike ( hate is over the top) people that think that some people are too good for them. This person seems like that kind of person, self centered, and doesn't bother to help out a friend.

In regards to the "pirating topic" , Yes I do pirate, mostly music that is, I don't see myself spending 500$ in iTunes on 500 songs. Other software is different though, I buy yearly anti virus protections and that kind of stuff.

Yeah so if your friend asks you to steal some jewelry or some clothes from the mall with them and you decline then they should be pissed off at you etc and not the other way around?

Genius!

No I would not necessarily do something that is against the law, maybe speaking to them about it. However I am the kind of friend that will do almost anything to help out a close friend. (really close one though) In this situation I wouldn't steal but I won't mind being a lookout in this but only for a CLOSE, real close friend.

Best post of the thread. Close this thread and send it to wasteland.

To each their own.

No point for me to lie over the internet, if you can't handle comments that are different from your opinions, I respect that, however there is no need to just put away/shutdown something you don't like or agree with.
