Sorry, I should have been more clear.

I meant Macs that are even remotely recent..

The 2012 iMac predates the Apple Watch itself.
I would not expect the Watch to unlock it.

All modern Mac’s do yes. My 2012 iMac is old now and I’m waiting on an update from Apple, which hasn’t happened in 2 years :(

OK, after watching this video, I've decided my next Mac laptop (to replace my late 2009 MacBook) will most likely be the 2018 MacBook Air, but I'll get the 256 GB SSD version and configure it online with 16 GB of RAM...

Yup, dig'n my new MBA 2018/512 ssd/16gb Mem.. I couldn't justify $1200+(w/accessories), on the new iPad Pro 12.9 and my workflow direction. Plus, having a full MacOS.

I got the 2018 MBA last 128 8 last week. I could of got the 256 version. I was kicking myself for not doing so. Now I think the one I have is not so bad. I am digging the Touch ID login. I have a old 2012 MB pro that is slowed down with clutter. It took that thing forever to sign on. the pro stopped charging. I think it needs a new battery, which I bought on amazon, but I have not gone into the back to tinker with it.
For what I do the new MBA fits the bill. I mostly do social media, tweet, you tube watching, nothing major. I also have an 2018 iPad Air 128gb, and an iPhone 8 xs, also 128gb. I plan to keep all the photos and music on the two mobiles and do most surfing on the air.
I thought about crossing over & getting a windows 10 laptop. All my stuff is apple, so I decided to keep it that way.
