So it has been spotted, just not 'leaked' 🙂 but yeah as I say I'm sure it'll be out as soon as Google officially unveils / announces 4.3

At that point I'm watching XDA carefully to see if those that converted to the GE get the OTA without problems....

The big question will be when the regular S4 gets 4.3 and when the regular HTC One (or dev edition) gets 4.3.

If I was a betting man, I wouldn't bet on HTC. Just sayin'.
 
I enjoy and appreciate the great resources provided by xda developers site. They've been my source of ROM'S and other tools that have made my experience modifying Android phones for improved performance and speed, for a long time now. Just last week I completed the majority of mods I planned on doing to my HTC One, it's really made a terrific phone even better.

I agree with you, unfortunately HTC is in a precarious position.

It would really depend on what actually 4.3 brings to the table when you factor in manufacturers skin.

For example we know things like camera have had their UI tinkered in 4.3 but this is of no consequence to Sense 5.

Likewise other small cosmetic changes like that will have no tangible benefit for Sense 5 users - therefore other than for having a higher digit in your 'about' page there wouldnt be much need for it.

4.3 won't add Sense features and under the hood stuff may be utterly non-perceivable unless you are running stock android to benefit.

I would rather HTC focus now on getting Sense 5.1 (or 5.5) update ready for KLP with some tangible improvements for all sense users to benefit from, then waste time on an OS update if it offers little benefit once Sense is factored into the equation.

Totally agree and 4.3 does not look exciting at all
 
After owning an iphone for 1.5 years (originally 4s, moved to 5), I have decided to give android a try with HTC One.

I've been using the HTC One for about a week now, and I am very satisfied with the phone. Build quality is on par with what I came to expect with iphone. The screen is ****ing gorgeous, and battery life, while not as good as the iphone, is still more than enough to get me through a 16-18 hr day with my personal usage habits.

I opted to install the vanilla jelly bean 4.2.2 instead of the stock HTC rom that comes pre-installed.

This is my first non apple smart phone, and so far it's been a treat!
 
Glad I got rid of my HTC One.
Pretty sure my Nexus 7 will have 4.3 many months before my ex-One will get it.
Never again an HTC product.

Seems a little drastic - 4.3 hasn't even been officially announced yet. Was there anything other than slow updates that put you off he One?

Yes well i'm sure a NEXUS device would have 4.3 before a manufactuer skinned version of android. If that was a chief complaint, you should have realised that from the outset.

Likewise 4.3 hasn't been announced. We have no information on what extra it will offer that will actually grace Sense 5 owners - chances are very little, so really just having the 'very' latest for the sake of posterity shouldn't be a big deal unless you are running stock android on your device and the newest update is offering features not currently in your handset.

Stock 4.2.2 doesn't provide support for battery percentage indicator, transparent notification bar etc.... All those are manufacturer additions, so having the latest version of android doesn't provide you with these benefits.

You could have alway have chosen to flash the Google Edition Rom onto your HTC ONE and have it running the newest version of android OS ASAP if that rocks your boat, but I honestly do think tooooo much is made of having the very latest OS update - when factoring in a very skinned version of android - that already provides MANY more features than stock android does in the first instance...

everything you said gets very overlooked. Until KLP, I really feel like the incremental upgrades only add things that the carriers may have already built in e.g camera features.
 
After owning the S4 for two weeks now and running a GE ROM on it (played with a few touchwiz custom ROMs too in search of a smoother one, yet even the custom ones lagged), my feeling is that i would have LOVED an HTC One instead, but unfortunately their decision for a 4MP ultra pixel cam killed my interest.

The One had everything otherwise, amazing screen (The S4 has an amazing screen too, but i will always take LCD over AMOLED), great build quality (something i always miss when i switch from an iPhone to a galaxy, still cannot get used to samsung plastic after more than two generations of their devices), and a smooth lag free clean skin which both looks and functions amazingly well.

Funny thing is i wouldn't bother whether i got 4.2.2 or not as the 4.1.2 on the One does more than everything i need in a smartphone, and does it far better than touchwiz ever will for me, but the only problem was that ultra pixel.

I hope HTC revises this decision next year. I am already sick of my otherwise great but plasticky and AMOLED toting GS4 🙁

It seems a lot of people are thinking along these lines. Had HTC included a 13MP camera (or even 8MP) then the One would have been unquestionably THE Andriod phone of 2013. The camera is the only thing the GS4 has going for it over the One, but it seems to swaying a lot of people regardless.

HTC probably will come to regret its Ultrapixel gamble.

Yep... Its the ONLY thing that iritates me too.

Otherwise its such a marvellous handset (button placement never bothered me in the slightest) that if they had just put a 13mp camera in there I'd have had my appetite suppressed completely. Ultrapixel personally for me given I take landscape photos and daylight photos are a poor tradeoff for low light performance.

I wonder however given the fact it s doing so well if HTC will actually realise this? I don't think ultrapixel is going to hurt HTC this year, but it may put folks off next year regardless if HTC manage to bump up the pixel count.
 
I said very early on that the Ultrapixel camera was HTC's biggest decision mistake with the One.

Now, let's see if this Moto X "Clear Pixel" camera is also more hype than glory...

But seriously, if it's ready and rolling out for the UK, why isn't it ready for the US? What in the world is the hold up? Is there like ONE person (get it???) working on updates in the HTC department?
