Or get S-off with revone (as you will lose any chance of doing so after 4.2.2 update if not done prior regardless) then change CID to superCID and install an official 4.2.2 RUU ?
You have more patience than me, though I'm not sure how US dev variant is compatible with European official RUU's.

I very recently purchased a HTC One, solely on the fact that I could convert to the Google Play Edition fully and get rid of Sense! I had Sense on for a couple of days while I figured out how to do it (Android n00b) it was alright, BlinkFeed annoyed me though. But since putting the GE on there I'm a happy camper, enjoying it thoroughly.
The loss of the IR and Zoe didn't bother me as they were never any reason for me to purchase the phone in the first place 😉
I like the freshness of Android, I think being on iOS for the last 4 - 5 years has made it a little stale for me (looking forward to what iOS 7 and beyond may bring). Although I do miss iMessages as most of my friends have iPhones, trying to convert them all to Whatsapp 😀

I had read that they may be putting the driver in for the HTC One for 4.3.
I'm waiting to see if the OTA updates will work for a fully converted One via the RUU with matching MID and CID.
Could the delay in the US be because HTC are looking to jump straight to 4.3?

I'm far too new to even post in those sections. But like any forum you take the good with the bad. I really only used the OP post and the links provided to do what I needed to do.

Yup. Asking a simple question is too much work and anti-development in their minds, but littering the thread with pats on backs and silly comments around is perfectly fine.
I especially get kicks from tasks thread for aokp "have fun in this thread". He has time to crack ios jokes but if someone asks something all of a sudden he has a wife kids and full time job and no time to even say yes or no.
Nerds are nerds I guess.

Yeah if your comfortable with terminal commands should be possible, I wasn't and just followed the easiest looking guide so used Bootcamp instead. 🙂

You are right about that. You would not want to try it without being comfortable with the terminal. I also had to search in multiple places to get all the correct information/files when I made sure that I could revert back to stock.
To those of you who're thinking of flashing the Ge Rom, what's your motivation for doing so? On the GS4 I understand, but Sense 5 is the closest skin to stock I've seen in terms of performance, so I don't get why so many want rid of it.
And if you only want it because you're fed up waiting for the US 4.2.2date, you do realise that the dreaded menu bar is still included!

I prefer stock android. I had been using a Galaxy Nexus from the play store and liked the "pure google" experience. I was going to buy the Play store HTC one, but when I saw that I could "transform" an ATT HTC one into the GE, I figured I would try that since I was able to get an HTC one for $50 plus $325 etf. The real test will be if I get OTA updates.

I prefer stock as well, but mostly I'd like to do away with Blinkfeed. For the time being I have another screen tagged as my home screen. I DO use the IR, it's convenient since both my televisions are Vizio and I only had to set it up once. 😎

Yeah I decided even though I downloaded modoco switch, to just to stick on Sense 5 & 4.2.2 for that reason. 🙂

Been debating on and off to try out the Google Play edition ROM, but I've never rooted/flashed an Android before. Think I've finally decided to man up and give it a go. Been watching plenty of youtube guides etc.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the general steps are:
1. Unlock bootloader at HTC Dev. This will apparently wipe everything.
2. Flash a custom recovery like clockwork.
3. Apply a su zip file to root it (do I actually need to do this or can I go GE without root? - Would like to continue to use SkyGo and the like if at all possible)
4. Apply the GE ROM from a trusted XDA thread.
At which point do I make my nandroid backup? I assume after putting the custom recovery on?
If I want to go back to stock again I believe I just apply the RUU file to revert back?
Sorry for the noob questions. Safer here than XDA and I'd rather not end up with a £400 paper weight 🙂

This video was very helpful for me in flashing my first custom ROM , as I did last night, obviously it won't answer all your questions but just thought I'd share.
Also I'm currently using Cyanogenmod 10.1, can anyone who's ran both the GE and Cyanogenmod tell me if there's a clear advantage to using one over the other? I know it's most likely just preference but just wondering if there's any main differences besides of course the GE being an official release.

Yep! I had a One for 2 days then got an S4 and now I want a One again! I'll probably keep the S4 in case the One doesn't work out again 😛
