The iPad 3 is nearly here post some pictures of you and where you are waiting.

From the USA to Japan post a picture of your line.

Let’s Celebrate and Share.

(BTW the picture is not me or my line)

How many of them are baristas?:p

Just got back from my local Apple store to exchange the free Smart Cover I was given after Apple.com screwed up my order (ordered Cream, thought better of it and wanted to switch to Black).

There was zero line, store was normal. The guy helping me said his shift was until 3am to help change the floor stock and signage for the new iPad.

Thinking I may swing by in the morning, I have a feeling there will be a ton of stock. Then just cancel my still-waiting-to-ship Apple.com order.

Line outside of the Apple store on 5th ave and 59th today

iPad may be the most popular tablet on earth. But I don't see it would make the same hype like iPhone could. 4S launch was epic , people waiting in line crazily almost anywhere (some were chaotic rush like in Beijing Apple Store), while iPad launch day has not been able yet to recreate the atmosphere.

By some reports I've seen, the iPad has had the fastest adoption rate of ANY CE gadget in history, even surpassing the lowly DVD player.

Never understood how that many people could have both that much free time and enough cash to actually afford stuff in an Apple Store.

Some lack both the free time and money but make it happen regardless of their position. White lies to get out of work and credit cards make this all too easy in the "gotta have it now" world we live in. I'm not judging or criticizing. I've been down that road. It's easy to talk yourself into something you feel you need.

On the other hand there are many who do very well despite the current economic situation. Good for them.

This is the first iPad release that's got me thinking of buying one. I have the cash in the bank but I'm holding off. No rush, the iPad will still be the same in a few months. Until then I'll enjoy what I have. I may even wait for the next version. :)

What exactly are you doIng between now and 8am that's so important to the world?

I do feel The camping thing is an odd phenomenon but in all honesty then most people are going to watch some tv, eat a cheap meal and then go to bed. So if someone chooses to go camp out then they're probably having a more productive and social night than us because in the morning they'll have a new ipad while others will be hunting for whatever stores Haagen them left.

Well I work for a living...so i will be sleeping so that i am effective at my job.

i agree, ive posted up (not days like that ) for the 360, and halo games. Its fun being around all the people just as excited as you, and a common intrest.
I did it for the Harry Potter books..it's always cool to be around like minded folks cause u can entertain each other, talk about the reasons you are standing in line...you get to meet all sorts of people. I also did it for a chance to see the POTUS speak at a rally in Cali...paid off cause a) got to shake Clinton's hand and 2) got to see current POTUS up close! and 3) I loved all the Harry Potter books! :)

Yes, yes! It's one change you don't feel too ashamed* for being nerdy and having a strange camaraderie with strangers for the single purpose of buying some consumer product. :D

*I wasn't feeling ashamed until the TV camera crew came and tried to interview me waiting in the iPad 2 line.

Wonder if anyone would be cruel enough to go to Wal-Mart, buy at midnight, then give crap to the people standing in line for 8 hours overnight :)

Ran an errand to Walmart. Six people waiting around at 12:05. Manager came out and said No iPads! Check back later. All left mad.
