Didn't get my delivery from TNT Croydon and getting a bit worried due to a few iffy things.

Rang them at around 7pm. Told van broke down and being towed back...

Around 15 minutes before that an unmarked white van had pulled up outside my house. I had been waiting in all day. Seeing this I excitedly looked out, saw a man get out with a parcel so I ran downstairs. Looked out the window, and I see him walking out of someone elses garden and into his van and drive off.

Then the tnt tracker afterwards shows the item as being 'held in secure place'. Does that not mean given to someone else or hidden somewhere you have specifed such as a garage? It also has a spinning exclamation mark next to the consignment number. If they have given it to the house 2 doors down I will not be seeing it. They are a bastard family that cause problems on the street and it will be on ebay within hours. Even if I do get it wouldn't be surprised if they had had a 'play' with it.

Piss poor not getting it today. I'm off on a trip from Monday all next week and it's unlikely anyone will be able to pick up a redelivery if nothing arrives tomorrow. What happens now? Will it go back to Apple (assuming the house 2 doors along havn't got it) and automatic refund?

Yes, if nobody is in to accept the delivery it will go back to the depot. The driver would have left details for delivery. If nobody picks up the parcel it will go back to apple and you will be refunded.

If the driver gave the parcel to another house they are liable, not you. The 'white van incident' is probably irrelevant though.

Ring TNT tomorrow and explain. You might be able to pick up the parcel. If the parcel is not out for delivery when you ring it's unlikely you'll get it tomorrow although you can try. If the van really did break down it's 'force majeure' and not really TNT's fault although you can explain the situation and they might help.

I called TNT late last night, when I could finally get through. The lady I spoke to was really nice. She said I can go to the depot this morning, my local ones open from 8 - 12 (but this may vary from depot to depot) and I need to take 2 forms of ID (one photo, one address) to collect my iPad.
I will complain to Apple about this. If this had been my first Apple delivery I'm sure it would also be my last.

Well I'm not going to bother per ordering again. While I was sat in front of my computer at work tracking my order to see it attempt delivery to then arrange for me to go pick it up at 7pm last night, my friend casually walked in to tesco on the way home and just bought one. He had his before me.

So, I've learnt my lesson. Apple are getting to grips with supply on release, unlike when I got ipad 1 and had to wait 2 months for it to arrive.

Oh well, dead happy. It's so much better than iPad 1 :)

Mine says they (UK Mail) that they attempted delivery at 4.45 and left a card, strange that there was a house full of people and a dog that barks at anyone who comes within 50 feet of the front door, oh and no card left.

Nows says delivery on Monday

I wouldn't mind so much if they just said we couldn't cope with demand, but to just blatantly lie, really annoys me, not a good advert for Apple but I guess with such product demand what will they care...

UK Mail/delivery times.

On their website, UK Mail state that they will deliver during normal business hours. I took a day off yesterday but had to leave my house at 6:30pm. Of course, my iPad arrived at 7pm, with no-one to collect it.

Does anyone know what is considered 'business hours'? I don't think 7pm is, or am I wrong?

I ask as they will now try to deliver on Monday-which would require another day off. I'd like them to give me a delivery window of half day (which they state they don't do)-pref pm, as I feel I kept my end of what was required, i.e. be there for normal business hours.

Regards.

UPDATE: For anyone else experiences with delivery times outside of business hours and is bothered. Rang UK Mail, girl friendly, but refused to give me an allotted time on Monday (so I didn't have to take a whole day off), asked to speak to her manager, explained I felt they had fallen short and their website clearly quotes this:

"Can you provide an approximate delivery time?
Your delivery will be made during normal working hours, dependent on the delivery service specified by your sender. Due to the large number of deliveries made each day by our drivers it is not possible for us to provide you with a delivery time."

He was very reasonable and gave me a definite pre 12pm slot for delivery on Monday-so at least I can get to work in the afternoon. Hope that might help someone-speak to a manger to narrow your delivery, not the *********.

For those of you that are reading this on your Retina screens-I'm well-jel.

Regards.

UKmail said they attempted delivery but that was aload of crap because i was at home downstairs all day waiting for it and nobody came and no card was left.

I'm just going to try get one down pc world or apple today instead.

When i do get it on monday, will i be able to take it straight into the apple shop un-opened and get a full refund asap?

Just came back from local TNT depot. Collected my iPad. Lovely chaps and they know full well the delay.

Worth calling your local depot to see if you can collect it, I think it's between 8am to 2pm.

Disappointed with TNT as a whole though, they even got the wrong number for the depot listed on their website.

Bring two forms of ID + the Apple invoice if your delivery is different from your ID address.

Does anyone know of stock in south London somewhere? The Wifi 64Gb one seems to be sold out everywhere.

Cheers

also, if you are a frustrated UPS "customer" and they didn't deliver your iPad yesterday drop an email to twitter@ups.com complaining. They responded and may even do something, you never know.

Picked mine up from my local TNT depot at 8am this morning. It's a good job I did as the guy had to grab it off the lorry before it left, despite the lady on the phone last night telling me that they wouldn't try again until Monday so I could pick it up today anytime before noon. Glad I went early.

The guy said that there were 60 people queuing up there last night trying to get their iPads, most of which were still on lorries not yet back at the depot. Luckily I was the only customer there this morning.

Apparently the iPads turned up at the depot late yesterday morning. They hadn't appeared at 7am, which is when the lorries usually leave. So they had a choice of making the lorries wait for an unknown amount of time or just go out without them, and decided not to wait as they didn't know when they would appear.

Sounds typical Apple distribution. How can a company that is so good at most things be so poor at getting their products delivered? That is 5 Apple Store orders in a row that have I have had problems with. I'll probably bite the bullet and queue up next time.

Happy days.. I saw a tnt van drive past, turn round stop and turn round.. I've never run so fast. Delivery guy said he would have phoned so I needn't had worried but I didn't want to take any chances. I now have my lovely Ipad all set up :) But.... lessons have been learnt and I will never conisder pre-ordering from Apple again unless they seriously sort things out.

One word. Wow!

I sent Tim a polite email yesterday evening, explaining my disappointment and suggesting Apple should consider their delivery service more carefully.

Guess what? I got a called this morning from a lady in customer relations, apologising and thanking me for taking the time to tell them this. Also assured me they will look into their delivery partners in the future.

I was unhappy yesterday, but a simple phone call just changed my experience with Apple to 100% impressed.

I didn't get a reply of any kind when I emailed... I guess maybe they saw I finally got my Ipad and thought nah, he's sorted now.

Well again, waiting for TNT delivery which was supposed to be made before 12. It's once again "out for delivery".

Well it arrived about an hour ago. Long before tyne 1pm cut off time they said. Still unsure if they even tried to deliver but still.

There has been a mess up but whether it has been apple or the delivery companies remains to be seen.

As an aside, apart from the fact this is taking an age to upload all my old aps and music even just sitting looking at the settings menu is great. The difference in font quality is remarkable.

Just got off the phone to the Apple Distribution Manager. Was on the phone to Apple for about an hour and got fed up and they let me speak to him. So as my delivery didn't come yesterday as the courier service lied about me not being in at the time and not leaving a card, he was really cross with them and spoke to them personally. Then he got back to me saying he has told them they HAVE to deliver my ipad tomorrow (sunday) and if they don't then he said he will refund me (not sure how much yet) for all the trouble caused. So having a go at them seemed to work :)

It's here!

Mine arrived at 8.15am today! The TNT guy said they hadn't actually tried to deliver it yesterday, they had lot's of Apple packages to go out today! At least it's here and up and running! First impressions - the screen is way better than my old 1 gen iPad! :)

Just reading through this.... Did anybody actually have an issue with UPS delivery, because I can't recall too many.

Seems they were better prepared than the others (I know mine turned up in a hire van with two people manning it to make the delivery process as fast as possible, seems like they just invested better and were more prepared for the situation)

I finally got my hands on mine last night at about 7:45. When I got to the depot at about 6:30 there was 1 other guy there, they came back with his & told me the driver hadn't come back with mine and they couldn't get hold of him :(
Got a bit worried then, but an hour later the nice lady at the TNT depot phoned to say "Your iPad is here!". The rest is history :D

People talking about TNT leaving packages in 'safe places' - I very much doubt it.
When I got to the depot the guy on the security gate wanted to know specifically that I was there for an iPad because there were a specific set of procedures that Apple had given them for the whole process. I'm sure this extends to the delivery drivers somewhat, but I didn't see any drivers obviously.

My ipad arrived yesterday morning around 9.15 via UK Mail - maybe it was a regional problem with deliveries. Came in an unmarked van. It is brilliant - no faults that i have found - no dead pixels, yellowing, light problems etc. Glad I am on holiday for 2 weeks now lol.:D

I got mine last night around 6pm, funnily enough it came just as I was thinking of phoning UPS.

It's perfect too. Very, very, very minor, practically un-noticeable backlight bleed is visible in one corner if you turn brightness all the way up and look at it in a dark room with a black screen, no dead pixels, the screen isn't yellow at all and there's not a mark on it anywhere.

In normal usage, e.g. watching a TV show, browsing the net...whatever, the tiny bit of bleed isn't at all noticeable. Very happy!

I dont think i am meant to get an i-pad

After failing to get anywhere with apple on my deliver slipping to 10th April, i cancelled and ordered from tesco online with a promised delivery of today (between 7 and 7).

Waited in ALL day and then at 4pm i get a text saying its not coming till Monday!

You can imagine i was straight on the their customer support, which wa funny cos the guy said he had never heard of a text being sent and that they usually just dont Deliver - What a hoot!

waiting on a reply now as to why - but he suggetsed it may be a glitch and still might be delivered cos his system shows it being out. I even asked if i could just go to tesco and pick it up, but he said i would have to order another one first!

Honestly, i dont think anyone knows anything about customer service!!!

Still Processing!!

My Pre-order:
9th March at ~11am
32gb Wi-fi White
Spalding, Lincs

Apple took my payment instantly but was put back in my account on the 15th but my order is still processing, with est. delivery 30th march. A friend of mine ordered the exact same model as me 3 hours after and recieved his on the 16th!
Any ideas?
Cheers

Rearranged delivery with TNT for today.

Apple's site says out for delivery

TNT's site did say "held in a secure place", but has now updated to "Shipment received at destination depot"

Does that mean it's coming tonight? Or has a day been wasted waiting for TNT to turn up?

Call them but probably means it will come tomorrow.
