I can't get through either. And being in NYC, it's virtually impossible to get one at the Apple retail store since all the "foreigners" from oversees get paid to camp out at every Apple launch and eat up all the stock for weeks. Really hope Apple has a policy in place to prevent that this time (though I doubt it).
I can all but guarantee you that will be repeated.
 
What a horrible problem for a company to have. So many people wanting to give them at least $500 that that can't collect it fast enough.

They should think about adding a few servers to their fancy new data center in NC.

Given that they MUST have more capacity than ever, a melt down to this level must mean unprecedented levels of orders.
 
Why not save all that energy and wait in line a few hours next Friday?

No chance that it will be delayed during shipment or that they'll push shipping dates back a few weeks or you'll be shipped the wrong iPad or that the couriers will sabotage your package...

You already look a fool constantly hitting refresh; might as well set your pride aside and stand outside for a few hours.
 
I was refreshing the app on my phone every few seconds until it went live. Was able to order a 64GB Black Wi-Fi only model. It took like 10 minutes to do the entire process because each screen was loading real slow but it did go through. I got a confirmation email and I have a delivery date of 3/16 :) My credit card account also shows that I now have over $760 less available credit so all seems to have gone through successfully. Hopefully all the problems are sorted out and you all get your pre orders for that day!

You'd think a half-trillion dollar company could do better than this. I think all they want is the publicity because they KNOW they won't lose any sales due to the hassle. And of course when it does come up it will say "Delivery July 1st."
 
If you don't have a confirmation e-mail or you order isn't showing up under your Apple ID....then it didn't.


No confirmation email but I think order went through. I used Amex card and went to Amex site and its showing an authorization from Apple under recent transactions. Maybe I was one of the last because right after I put in my CC card authorization pin and hit place order the screen went white.
 
Got through to Apple on phone.

Store still not up. Not taking orders until website store is active.
 
Even dominos pizza moves there online ordering to azure cloud provider to handle traffic during the Superbowl. Can't apple span horizontally to support the massive fluctuation in traffic....

Everything loaded super fast when I used the app but I took too long typing in stuff and the store went down before I could complete my order. :mad:
 
Keep trying the 800#. I finally got through and am on hold to place my order. Tried about ten times before I got through.

Good luck with that, I was on hold for 25 minutes before I finally talked to the right person and she told me they use the online store and don't have an eta for when it would be back up. That I could just call back later and see if it's fixed.
