Yes, but I could see that happening either way. Like a scenario where Apple says that M1-M4 chips (and A17 Pro-A18) get Apple Intelligence, but M5 (and A19) gets Apple Intelligence 2.0. Or they’d maybe require 16GB RAM for Apple Intelligence 2.0, which no iPad Air has.

Once Apple figures out Apple Intelligence’s roadmap, they might start figuring out how to release their products more consistently to support it.
This is very possible… and might arrive pretty quickly…

- iPhone 17 Pro might have a ram upgrade from 8 to 12 which might include the compatibility…

- all new Macs are with 16gb of ram now…

- iPad Pro m4 1tb has 16gb of ram… pretty possible we get an iPad Pro M5 with 16gb of ram on the base model by the end of the year…

- earlier next year we might get an iPad Air with M4 and 16gb of base ram probably…

- We will give the base iPad model the compatibility for Apple Intelligence but only the current version…

So my guess is : every compatible products with Apple Intelligence now will get some extra AI features with iOS 19/macos 16… during wwdc26 we might get 12gb (iPhone)/16gb Mac required… M4 chip might be required though (otherwise not enough powerful)

No it was an example : we boost either iPad mini and iPad Air to boost the normal iPad… Why we boost the iPad Air and the mini : because if we boost the iPad… then why would anyone buy the mini or the air ? And why we boost the iPad : to make it a better upgrade from iPad Mini 6, Air 4, iPad 10……
lots of people buy the mini or the air because their use cases are different than yours?

No M4 iPad Air will possibly get 8GB ( or 12GB if Apple unlocks this in 8GB M4 iPad Pro’ in a future iPadOS Update)

good luck getting A16 Bionic iPads the ability to get it. If it did then other 6GB of RAM iPhone Models besides A16 Bionic and A12Z would run it.

Then it will simple : M4 required… that’s it (ok for iPhone it’s another chip)

For iPhones it’s the A18 since the architecture is the same as M4

Also if you’re going to get the M4 iPad next year it will have more changes than just the M4, the big one will be OLED ( alongside the next iPad Mini)😁. Hopefully the next iPad Air gets a camera flash at the back of that iPad ( long overdue lol)

yeah but A18 isn't powerful like M4 so maybe A19 Pro with 12gb of ram

A18’s power multicore wise is equivalent to A14X (M1)😁

A19 Pro will only be more powerful single core wise than M4 but M5 will be based on it though
Yeah M1 will not be enough if the new apple intelligence says m4 so maybe a19 pro 👌

I highly doubt Apple will use an A-series Pro chipset on their “cheap” iPad.

It’ll probably get whatever chipset the iPhone #e gets. Maybe a generation or two older.

I never said that… I just said it will be the requirement for apple intelligence 2.0
