This is very possible… and might arrive pretty quickly…Yes, but I could see that happening either way. Like a scenario where Apple says that M1-M4 chips (and A17 Pro-A18) get Apple Intelligence, but M5 (and A19) gets Apple Intelligence 2.0. Or they’d maybe require 16GB RAM for Apple Intelligence 2.0, which no iPad Air has.
Once Apple figures out Apple Intelligence’s roadmap, they might start figuring out how to release their products more consistently to support it.
- iPhone 17 Pro might have a ram upgrade from 8 to 12 which might include the compatibility…
- all new Macs are with 16gb of ram now…
- iPad Pro m4 1tb has 16gb of ram… pretty possible we get an iPad Pro M5 with 16gb of ram on the base model by the end of the year…
- earlier next year we might get an iPad Air with M4 and 16gb of base ram probably…
- We will give the base iPad model the compatibility for Apple Intelligence but only the current version…
So my guess is : every compatible products with Apple Intelligence now will get some extra AI features with iOS 19/macos 16… during wwdc26 we might get 12gb (iPhone)/16gb Mac required… M4 chip might be required though (otherwise not enough powerful)
