It's been brought up before and I have to agree, Apple isn't going to abandon the external antenna band that they poured so much time and research into. I wouldn't hold your breath for a super radical new iPhone design.

And where is your proof? Time and time again when leaks of internals have made their way to the public we find out that those leaks are true. All the current leaks have been consistent and could only be the real thing or a prototype.
Even if the iPhone is going to be different than the leaks, why would you say "it is going to be radically different"? I think I know why you're saying it, but I'll let you respond first.
All of you saying that no one believe the Tear Drop design was real... you're wrong because so many people thought that would truly be the new iPhone last year (I do not know why they did, but they did).
People complained in threads about getting the 4S instead of the Tear-Drop design, none of them believed it to be real?
The companies that made the cases for it, they didn't believe it was real either?
I did not believe the Tear-Drop design was real because there wasn't any solid proof. I always assumed we would see the 4S just like we saw the 3GS. I agree that people shouldn't have believed it, but that does not mean they didn't.

Actually, one of the most reputable sources, the WSJ (they apparently get controlled leaks directly from Apple, due to Walt Mossberg's ties to Steve Jobs), confirmed that Apple would be releasing the "iPhone nano" alongside the "iPhone 5" last year. How quickly we all forgot about that! Almost everyone here on macrumors believed there would be 2 iterations of the iPhone. Instead, all we got was the 4S. Rumors are just rumors everybody!

I do not like the new design, but not because it looks like the current iPhone 4/4S design. I love the current design. I do not like it because I think only making the screen taller is a really lame way to give us a bigger screen. I also do not see the point of making it 16:9, but if they must... I would prefer the screen be bigger than 4" (so it is wider and taller by at least a little bit)
Just has they have with the purported/expected new design, they could develop any number of designs that still use the external antenna system. I just do not like how it is only taller.

proof? I do not work for apple so I have no proof. I do remember reading that apple purposefully releases parts for secrecy. And I should of just said different instead of radically different.
No one has mentioned this, so I will. How was everyone "fooled"? Incase OP doesn't remember.. the rumors of last year in September (right before the announcement) was that there would be 2 phones, an iPhone 5 with a bigger 4" display, and an upgraded iPhone 4 called the iPhone 4S. There was even some coding in iOS 5 beta that made references to a 4S. So they didn't fool us, we were only half right. Which when dealing with rumors.. it happens all the time.
That being said, I don't care if they change the design or not.. if this new iPhone has a 4"+ screen and 4G LTE, I'm buying it.

Really don't think Apple will release a new phone based on the 4 and 4s design. They will definitely lose some followers if they do. The phones are fantastic without a doubt but they need a change now. If the iPhone 5 arrives and is physically the same as the 4 and 4s, that's a cop out. They've got to get back on top with this next release otherwise Samsung will be all over them like a rash. Can't wait!
Silently hoping to be amazed but publicly aware that we mostly likely have seen what the next iPhone will look like. I personally think people are taking this secrecy thing WAY too seriously. Do I think it would be awesome if Apple threw us for a loop and nothing about these leaks is legit? You bet! Do I think it's probable? Not really. Possible? Maybe ever so slightly; it's sort of right there with Big Foot, Nessy, etc.
Seriously though, we've had so many "new iphone parts" leak that they've been able to construct the damn phone... as much as a "radical new design" would be awesome, it's just not realistic or probable at all.
And I've noticed a few people making it seem like the "two-tone" back is completely horrendous, as if the colors don't match or anything. We're not looking at pics of a pink/brown iphone here... it's black and gray (or white/silverish for the white version). They match. It's not "hideous" as many are exaggerating it to be.

Based solely on pictures (obviously) the back is the worst looking back of an iPhone to date (IMO). Does that translate to hideous? I don't know. I think the current iPhone back is stunning, so in comparison, the new phone back is ugly, at least.
