This would NOT be hard to do, NFC is a trivial feature, water resistance is provided by aftermarket companies like liquipel that just add a coating to the device, a larger screen would be trivial to add, and Apple already has the production line set up to do a thick sapphire screen, although the rest of the device would have to get slightly thinner internally to support the screen, and stereo speakers would be trivial as well.

You actually answer the question why Apple didn't include NFC, slightly bigger screen and stereo speakers, because it is trivial. Trivial means: of little significance or value.

What excites me most about the 5s is the fingerprint reader. I use a passcode and hate having to type it each time I pick up my phone. I hope that I can use it on all my apps that require a passcode to log on. It's the future. Can't you see ATM's requiring a fingerprint or iris scan to access your money? Anyone that has used GOES system to cross the US Border will experience this. Apple in my opinion is ahead of the game. I love the new Gold color. It's a fresh look after a decade of silver and black.

As far as the 5c, I look forward to actually feeling it in my hand. Plastic is such a broad material. You can have very cheap plastic that can be brittle and slippery or you can have a really nice quality of plastic that is great to hold and feels secure in your hand. I am sure Apple did not say, "Oh lets use any plastic to make a cheaper phone with more profit." I am sure they chose a material that they feel would be something when the consumer holds feels the quality they would see the value. As far as profit, it's crucial for any company to make a profit in order to not only deliver product, but to invest in the future and build a stronger company. Apple has demonstrated this time and time again. Then combined with some of the best customer service any company could have you have success. Ever pick up the phone and talk to tech support? It's refreshing to speak with someone in North America when you live in North America. I'm sure our friends would experience the same thing within their areas of the world. And back to the 5c....different regions of the world see color differently than most. I think India and Asian countries love color and will embrace the new 5c and may even say, they could have been brighter.

My hats off to Apple. The new phones make sense. They don't have to be packed with features that don't work.

I'll be in line Friday morning hoping for gold! Makes me feel like I'm in the olympics. Yeah....right....dreaming again.

What do all the haters really want? I'm probably going to make one of the two new phones my next phone and my second iPhone. I had (still use as my iPod) an iPhone 3G.

Seriously, what do the people want? I see people raging (as in seeming to be seriously angry) that Apple hasn't made some unbelievable step 'forward'. So, tell us, what would make you happy? A tractor beam? A warp drive? A transporter? A light saber? A 3-D hologram generator?

I don't get what makes people get seriously angry about a freaking telephone unless you own it and it doesn't work.

It's a telephone people....

It's a telephone people....

a 700-800 USD telephone.

Subsidized? Try 70-90 USD for two years. How much is the iPhone after all that?

Ok, here's a comparison.

All are premier phones. Buy what u like and like what u buy.

But calling it a telephone is an under under silly statement.

I think the main downfall of the new phones are their styling though. When you release a color (gold) that when it gets leaked blogs think it's a prank or a practical joke or a a fake you've got problems. Then there's the 5C and it's cases.

you obviously werent around with the ip4 got lost in a bar and everybody thought it was fake and apple wouldnt ever make such a phone with a design like that blah blah blah. its all the same *****. you dont know what your talking about or what people want.

I really hope Apple never chases the "giant-ass phone" market. I like my phones fitting comfortably in my pants pockets, thank you very much.

apples and oranges so to speak.

But it's also options.

iPhone 6 has rumors of a larger screen.
iPad has rumors of a larger screen as a new line.

Who knows, right? But Apple IS thinking of this. Why? Because tech evolves and updates very very quickly. Calling minimalist is fine. Have that option. LIke the 5C or 3 or 3S or 4 or 4S. But there's also a line for higher specs. 5S. Other companies have lines for larger screens or with a stylus or with a stronger camera or waterproof or whatever. Thing is....OPTIONS.

I love IOS and IOS apps and Apple products. Got everything cause it's great since a decade ago. But sometimes I crave for a iPad mini with phone capabilities or a slightly larger screen on my iPhone to watch a movie during a conference. Sometimes I dream of a multitasking app capability to play games while sending pics of my achievements to my friends. Who knows.

Have you used AirDrop? One million times superior tech to NFC.

?

Lol. Apples and oranges. Even the names of each imply they are different technologies.

He said NFC was trivial, not the rest.

You must admit that a bigger screen on the current size iPhone is a good idea. The iPhone has one of the worst bezel to screen ratios of any smartphone.

My point is that people get all bent out of shape over a gadget. I get the differences. But folks need to take a chill pill. A telephone (even a smartphone) is not worth the stress some people seem to exhibit.

I freely admit that I concern myself with the little things. I jumped ship from the 4S when the 5 was released. One reason was the odd 1136x640 screen -- IMO Apple should have gone with a more "standard" 1280x720 (or 1920x1080 today) screen. Also, I realized that I needed a phone with microSD and a removable battery. Doesn't look like either will appear in iPhones anytime soon.

Galaxy Note 3 is having a conference and a world wide release on Sept 25.

World wide release right after the conference.

isn't that grand?

no first,second, third wave releases.
no wait one full year yet they still haven't produced enough for a wide release
no keep the same exterior but put in new chips.

Get a feel for the Note3. Not a bad machine.
I think there is such a thing as a phone that is too big. I owned the Note 2 for several months, but I found it too big for my use. Also, while I could fit the Note 2 in my pockets, it feels bulky. I got the S4 Active two weeks ago and I find the size just right.

Right now, this thread is very pointless. Some moderator please close this thread. And to the OP, if you don't like Apple's new iPhones, then don't buy them. Nobody is forcing you to here.
Nobody is forcing you to read this thread either.
