the people which work in apple support I'm sure are not stupid. This is not mistake and we will see mac mini and cheap 27" imac in next 2 weeks. And not in last place, september they open Yosemite, mac mini must be updated before that, because Mavericks now running on mac mini terrible. Cheers! 🙄

Hey guys, this is a connector standard, electrically it's the same thing. Quoting from the announcement, "As the new USB Type-C plug and receptacle will not directly mate with existing USB plugs and receptacles (Type-A, Type-B, Micro-B, etc.), the Type-C specification will define passive new-to-existing cables and adapters to allow users to use their existing products." So a cheap cable from Monoprice will set you up.

Must be your mini. I've got four of them (one the current base model, two four year old base models, and a four year old server model) running Mavericks and they all run fine. All of the new features of Yosemite will work on the current minis, so no need to come out with new ones for that either.

My mini runs about the same with Mavericks. It still boots in less that 14 seconds.

After update to Mavericks my mini (late2012 with 16gb) running very slow. Starting for much more time, thinking for every operation.. This is the fact not rumor. Nevermind.. this is old hardware, it's normal. The most important is to see refreshed mini.

You should consider a clean install. It should not be running slow. I have a I5 late 2012 and it is very fast with Mavericks and faster with Yosemite Beta.
Verify your disk with disk utilities and repair and verify your disk permissions and repair to see if that helps.

I agree 100%. They've gone from focusing on what people need to focusing on thin. When Jobs returned, there was an immediate streamlining of products. Their desktop lines got affordable entry level systems that are user expandable, the iMac came out as an entry level system then eventually the Mac Mini. They just want to sell you a laptop or a laptop for your desk unless you have deep pockets and then the Mac Pro is more for video people because all their current higher-end i7 systems match or beat the CPU power of the 4-core model easily and only some super-geek blathering about memory protection or some ultra-niche data-processing task only they care about would defend the pricing of the Mac Pro.
It should be Hex-core with 16Gb entry level as bare minimum from the start. No quad-core option at all, just a solid 50% more CPU power than any of the i7 Macs below it in their range and even with that spec, it shouldn't be any more than the entry level cost of the 2012 Mac Pro. £2,499 for 12Gb, 256Gb Flash and a quad Xeon is a joke!
I'd take the Mac Mini to i7 across the board myself. 500gb HDD on the entry level, Fusion as standard on others. The idea the iMac is still using a HDD without BTO options is backwards to me too considering how little it would cost to make at least a Fusion drive standard. It adds to the value of the system and the percieved speed of it too.

Things changed a lot since the iphone arrived. Before iphone the Mac business was a large part of apple's business. Now the iphone dominates it all ... so apple couldn't care less what people like us would like future macs to be. As long as they are selling enough iPhones and MacBook airs to the kids

I think the problem is not Apple but Intel and the state of computer development. A new mac mini would be new but as far as advancement all they can do is better graphics. It terms of CPU power a newer chip will not be that much faster. Sure they could put higher clock chips in the minis but would that compete with the iMac. Apple wants to sell you a solution.
If spun out Mac would loose more than it would win:
a. Loose shared costs of OS development with common iOS core infrastructure. Costs go up.
b. Loose placement in Apple stores. Advertising ( 100-1000K per day folks walking through Apple stores ) and retail operation overhead go up.
[ Only relatively recently has Apple even started to run major advertising for Mac again. It went years with no major campaign; just coasting off of 'cheaper' mechanisms for getting word out. When sales started sinking then got back in the game. ]
c. Apple iOS would have far more vested interest in making "Continuity" features work on Windows ( 90+ % of PC market ) than on OS X.
d. It isn't just "big shot suits" who are internal folks making money off of Apple stock increases. The stock is part of the compensation benefits for many of Apple high contributing value employees. Those folks will have limited incentive to walk away from that and just to do same thing for less.
Implicit in the premise is that Apple would spin out the Mac division, but then still give some independent company huge preferential treatment and provide them lots of 'air cover' for free.
The Mac division doesn't have to be spun out to be more individually resourced. Apple's "minimal staffing" strategies is part of the reason why have to rob some teams of resources to make major changes elsewhere ( revamp iOS and OS X slows down. Major laptop tweak and Mini team gets raided , etc.). It isn't like Apple needs Mac to be the 'cash cow' to fund R&D in new high growth product markets. Apple has a giant pile of investment capital. They wouldn't have to spend billions more. "100's" of folks supposedly working on iWatch and the Mini languishing .... Apple should be able to walk and chew gum at the same time. There is enough cash flow to support that.
And yet the entire rest of the Mac line up upgraded in 2013 (minus the also comatose classic MBP 13" that the minus shares Apple design constraints with). And the whole laptop line up has upgraded in 2014.
It isn't Intel's problem. If Apple wants to radically change the Mini form factor smaller then Intel doesn't have much without taking a huge performance hit. But nothing to do an upgrade with? It doesn't seem to be a problem for the rest of the line up.
Far more likely that Apple just hasn't assigned folks to work on the Mini because there are higher priority projects to put the limited staff onto. ( Ive's relatively small design team is one of a couple choke points. )
Not really since the iMac uses Desktop oriented CPU packages (minus the MBA CPU powered, sub-$999 with volume discounts special ) and the mini has laptop ones. The pragmatic turbo performance curves are different.
What Apple is less likely to do is change the Mini's enclosure and properties so that it is just a headless iMac. xMac-iMac fratricide is something they are not going to invoke.
Apple from the start was about selling a tool (solutions) rather than bare bone kits and/or "build it yourself" kits. That isn't anything "new".
I am running Mavericks on a late 2007 iMac and it's not terrible. Way faster than my 2012 Dell at work running Windows 7 🙂
I have seen issues when upgrading an MBP (older than your Mini but not terribly old) to Mavericks. The UI slowed to a crawl and the computer was basically unusable from time to time. But it turned out to be an issue with an application I was using, that had worked fine before upgrading OS X. It was one of the media server applications I was trying out at the time, I'm not 100% sure but I think it was Plex. So it was some kind of issue with the Mavericks+Plex combination that killed the computer, not Mavericks by itself. All problems went away when I stopped running Plex.
Maybe there are more applications out there that can cause issues like these until they have been updated for Mavericks? In your case I think it's worth a try to go through the third-party applications you are using, particularly any always-on stuff you are autostarting at login.
I know the feeling. Sitting here day and night, always reloading the Apple Store in one tab and this thread in another... Finally all Tuesdays are merged together in an endless fuzzy disappointment, every Tuesday indistinguishable from the next.

yeah i just pop by every once in a while. apple has kind of lost me as a buyer.
And i purchased more then 250 minis from 2006 to early 2013.
oh well
